OPI It’s All San Andreas’s Fault is the taupe Liquid Sand from the OPI San Francisco Collection coming out in August.
Although the colour is more sophisticated than the other Liquid Sands I’ve tried, I’m not completely sold on this.
For one, I love wearing bold colours on my nails. Being able to wear obnoxious or immature shades is just something that makes me very happy.
While I can appreciate how this is a more grown-up Liquid Sand, I miss the glitter and colour. However, for those who are the opposite of me and who prefer neutrals on their nails, maybe they’ll dig this more.

OPI It’s All San Andreas’s Fault Review
Colour
Taupe is a colour that I associate with very sophisticated, fashionable women – y’know, the classy types like successful business people.
I hardly have any taupe – nail polish, clothing, or makeup. I’m the type of person who gets excited about rainbow colours. The only earthy shades that really make my heart race are swampy greens (aka geese-poop greens).
So, while It’s All San Andreas’s Fault by OPI is an interesting nail polish, it doesn’t excite me the same way that, hmm, a green Liquid Sand would! (Hehe, I’m still keeping my fingers, toes, and eyes crossed that OPI will come out with one.)
Taupe is a colour that, because it’s a neutral, can be paired with lots of bright shades, which makes it really versatile. So, instead of just writing it off as something that “isn’t me”, I plan to pair it with neons or something funky so that I can wear it again. 🙂
Finish
It’s All San Andreas’s Fault by OPI has a Liquid Sand finish, so it has grit without sharpness.
Also, I find that Liquid Sands are easy to remove. I don’t have to do anything different. Even though they look like they’d be a nightmare to remove, they actually come off fairly easily without much scrubbing. Yet they are so durable and resist chipping, even though I’m constantly on the keyboard at my job.
With the glittery Liquid Sands, you could add a couple layers of shiny top coat to bring out the sparkle. For a Liquid Sand such as It’s All San Andreas’s Fault, I don’t see the point because it’s a creme Liquid Sand. I think that if you add a clear top coat, it might make it look like a regular creme polish.
Application & Formula
It’s All San Andreas’s Fault by OPI was easy to apply. I didn’t have any problems with it, and because it’s a Liquid Sand, it dried very quickly.
I only needed 2 coats to get perfect opacity, even though a single coat covered pretty well.

It’s All San Andreas’s Fault by OPI isn’t really a colour that screams my name or even whispers it. I think it begs. Haha! While I can picture this looking incredibly classy on someone else, I don’t think it suits me. But I do plan to wear it again because I am a huge fan of OPI’s Liquid Sand finish. So, I’ll pair it with a bright shade to add some colour to a manicure. 🙂

It’s a very pretty polish and I love the look of it, but I’m also more into wearing bold colors 😉 Or pastels, I love those too. With nude colors, I prefer pink shades, because they look better with my pale, pinkish skin tone.

Do you have some favourite pinks that you love? I find that the pinks that work best for me are the medium-to-dark, more-saturated ones. Pale pinks are hit or miss with my skin tone.

Yes, I’m proud of my name, and I don’t often come across beauty products with my name, so the ‘rare factor’ makes it more interesting for me to collect, I guess.

Definitely I agree with you. The shimmery or glittery Liquid Sands are more my favourites. Without it, the colour has to be truly outstanding for me to love it.
You’re welcome! I had fun trying this colour that I wouldn’t normally wear. Sometimes it’s how I discover I like new shades. That was the case with coral, actually! I used to think it wouldn’t look good on me or that I wouldn’t like it. Then I tried it, and now I’m gaga over corals! Taupes, however, rarely excite me. But I gave it a chance. 🙂
I’m with you on this, I thought I would never-ever wear blue, and then I got I have a herring problem and I fell in love. Now I’m crazy about blues, just crazy!
Blues are so flattering on many different skin tones. I find that they really POP, and contrasting nails are my favourite manicures!
Ugh – do not want. The only thing going for textured polishes, in my opinion, is the sparkle. Although I love your swatches (and dang your nails are nice!), this color just looks like mud. Not attractive.

I can’t decide what I think about this. I actually love the color. It does look very much like You Don’t Know Jacques, which is one of my favorites. And I’ve been wanting a more neutral colored Liquid Sand. I feel like I should like this, but I don’t think I do.

I think a lot of people are curious about neutral Liquid Sands. Hehe, but I get more excited over the colourful, rainbow-y, loud Liquid Sands. Although it’s not always about bells and whistles, for me, the Liquid Sands that pull out all the stops make my heart race the fastest. I guess that’s what’s neat about all us nailphiles, though. We share a similar passion, but it’s interesting to see the different preferences.
Meh. This is just OK – it kind of reminds me of the Milani Texture polishes. I will definitely skip over this one.

I have to agree with Tanya on the description of this one, a leather couch, which in the summer time and without a/c can become quite tricky to sit upon if you sweat (yes, I said it even though we ummm *cough cough* aren’t supposed to) alot like I do I tend to slide right off the darned things and I have a feeling this color would do the same with my nails. In other words, for me, it’s just ho-hum, but I do love the look of the liquid sands and for that alone, I might try it if it were sitting on the shelf all by it’s lonesome saying rescue me please. 😀
