Blog News: Temporary Hiatus Due to Unexpected Problems

Hey everyone! This is a quick note to let you know 2 important things.

Tomorrow, I’ll Announce the Giveaway Winner

Tomorrow, I’ll be randomly picking and announcing the winner of my OPI The Man With The Golden Gun giveaway as mentioned in the post where I met Suzi Weiss-Fischmann of OPI for a 2nd time. (I’ll announce it on my various social-media platforms.)

Blog Issues

After it was brought to my attention by several readers, I will need to look into some issues that are affecting my blog.

Since I have a full-time job and only blog in my spare time as a hobby, unfortunately, it’s going to take me quite some time to work on these important issues and investigate what’s causing the problems. I will try to fix them as soon as possible. However, I have no idea how long or even if I can fix the problems, as I don’t have a technical background. I’ll do my best.

During the time that I devote to figuring out the solutions, I won’t have time to additionally prepare regular posts. It’s really a one-or-the-other type of deal. And the blog problem is an issue that takes precedence.

I wasn’t planning on taking a blog-posting hiatus, but with these major problems, I must.

Thank you for understanding, and I’ll do my best to be back as soon as I can.

In the Meantime…

I will try to be active especially on Twitter if you need to get in touch with me. (Please follow me on there to stay up-to-date on Swatch And Learn news and when I’ll be back up. Your support would be appreciated, as I’m currently pretty stressed out.)

But, if you need to get in touch with me to inform me about certain blog issues that may help my investigation, please reach me through my e-mail instead, which is SwatchAndLearn (at) gmail (dot) com.

Please help me spread the word about my temporary hiatus & the reason!

I don’t want people to think that I’ve abandoned my blog! I have full intentions of blogging regularly once everything is running again normally.

There are critical issues behind the scene that I need to fix first, and I unfortunately don’t have a technical background, so it could take me any time from a week to several months. I really hope to be back quickly because, as you know, I love blogging and interacting with my readers is something that brings me a lot of joy!

I hope that during this process, you will stick by me and support me during this tricky time.

Thanks,
Mary

      Hey Lizzy!

Thanks for giving me more information. I know that some readers are still having some issues – it doesn’t seem to affect everyone (thank goodness). But, I still want to fix everything before going forward. I hope to be back to blogging ASAP!

      Hey Laure!

Thank you – there have been some changes made in the back-end, and since my post, I’ve updated the layout so it’s more mobile-friendly. Still have to do some important maintenance tasks.

      Hey Neelie Z!

Don’t worry – I plan to be back in action soon. There have been a lot of changes behind the scene since this blog post. 🙂

I’m trying to not stress out, but when I work so hard on my blog and then there are technical issues, it’s a bit disheartening. Trying to stay positive and work out the major kinks!

      Thanks for your support!

I’ll be here when you get back. Not like holding my breath or anything like that, so no pressure. But when your techy stuff is straightened out. Happy thoughts and lots of support here. 🙂

      Hey Cindi!

Thank you for supporting me! 🙂 And thanks for not adding pressure – hehe, I do a great job at putting pressure on myself, actually. I thrive on challenges, and this is quite the challenge.

I hope to be back to posting soon. There have been a lot of changes behind the scenes, but there are still more to do. I’ll keep readers posted.

      Hey Stella!

There are just some maintenance problems, but also some readers have noticed strange things on my blog that shouldn’t be there. I’m working to find and address these important concerns. Lots of changes have been made since this post, and I’ve also tweaked the layout a bit to improve the mobile experience.

    Hi Mary,
Just wanted to let you know that I ♥ your Blog, and look forward to reading it each day.
I am from New Zealand and have not noticed any tech issues, just some damn good Blogging and fantastic honest reviews.
Hope you are able to get things sorted quickly, just a thought, maybe one of the beauty companies you Blog about could sponsor an IT person for you?
    Best wishes,
    Kathe from NZ

      Hey Kathe!

Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know how you feel. It mean a lot to me right now that you support me, despite this temporary hiatus.

I’m glad that the issues have only affect some readers. But, even so, I need to fix them because I want my blog to be properly accessible to anyone.

There have been some changes made in the back-end, and I’ve also tweaked the layout to make it more mobile-friendly. But, there are still some bigger issues that need to be ironed out. I hope to be back to blogging ASAP.

Aww, I don’t think I could ask the PR firms to sponsor an IT person. That would be like a dream come true, though…haha!

Welcome back!! I’ve always been amazed at how you post every day and have a full time job. I started off being able to do that, but I was burnt. I don’t have a set schedule, but I let myself just blog as I go and I notice I prefer not to post on weekends and spend that time preparing posts for the week. I’m still sporatic though haha. Glad to know your sunday posts aren’t forever gone though 😀

      Hey Frosso!

      Thanks so much! 🙂

Yeah, it’s quite challenging because I rarely just come home and work on the blog. So there’s tons of juggling after hours. My new schedule of Monday to Friday only will definitely give me the breathing room I feel like I need.
