OPI Solitaire is, the white Liquid Sand from the upcoming Bond Girls Collection due out in May.
I don’t often wear white nail polish, so this was certainly an interesting change of pace.
Ever since I first talked about the OPI Bond Girls Collection, many of my readers expressed great interest in Solitaire.
So, I’m finally getting around to fulfilling the request to see this unique Liquid Sand in greater detail.

OPI Solitaire Review
Colour
Solitaire by OPI is a pearly snow-white Liquid Sand nail polish that’s sprinkled with silver glitter. It’s very clean-looking and, like OPI Tiffany Case, I can picture the Snow Queen wearing this when going to see Stars on Ice. 😉
But what makes Solitaire fresh is that it’s not a plain white lacquer. Aside from the awesome texture, the glitter inside is silvery, so it catches the light. Sometimes it looks lighter and blends in with the white, but other times, it appears darker and almost dark grey or black.
The more I looked at my nails when I wore it, I thought it reminded me of salt with a bit of pepper. Or maybe I’ve been watching too much Hell’s Kitchen lately…Yeah, I’ll just blame Gordon Ramsay.
Finish
Solitaire by OPI has a Liquid Sand finish that I absolutely adore. From the very first time I tried out the finish with OPI Get Your Number, I was hooked onto this unique trend.
There’s some texture, but it’s not harsh like sandpaper. You won’t have to worry about it cutting you like sharp glitter. It’s subtle texture, and don’t be surprised when you keep rubbing the surface of your nails!
(It’s funny, but when I wear regular polishes after Liquid Sands, I really miss the texture. Shiny and smooth texture is just so ordinary afterwards!)
Despite the finish looking gritty, it comes off with remover very easily – much easier than a typical glitter.
Application & Formula
I have nothing but positive things to say about the way OPI Solitaire applies! It wasn’t too thick, and it was easy to paint with. Plus the bonus is that the formula dries really fast, so if you’re in a pinch, Liquid Sands like this are the perfect choice!
OPI Solitaire with a Top Coat
Here’s what it looks like with a shiny top coat, just in case you don’t like the Liquid Sand finish as much as I do.
Look how gorgeous it is! Now, if only I could pull off white nail polish better, then I’d be wearing this way more often!

Final Verdict: 7/10
I think OPI Solitaire is very beautiful. Unfortunately, my hands have a bit of redness, so when I wore this (or when I wear any white polish), unfortunately, that’s emphasized, and I don’t feel quite comfortable.
But, if your skin tone is different than mine and/or you don’t have an issue with redness in your hands, Solitaire is pretty to wear, and I think you’ll enjoy it!
Would you wear OPI Solitaire more in the winter or the summer? Do you play the card game, Solitaire?
Wow, I love this one with the topcoat! It’s like a snowglobe (having said that, now I’d be tempted to try painting cheesy miniature trees for a Christmas mani…).

Agreed! I have a few more days away from Saskatchewan, then I have to go shovel myself back in… 🙂 I’m trying to re-look at this polish more like coral-derived beach sand or diatomaceous earth with glitter…

That is the one color from this collection that is on my wish list. I don’t care much for the virgin versions of this, maybe because I am not a fan of the textured polishes, and nearly took it off my wish list, until I saw the last pic with the top coat. Now, THAT’s what I’m talkin’ ’bout!

Yeah, it’s really gorgeous with a top coat. 🙂 But the texture is interesting, too. The only reason I’m not in love with it is because this white makes me look like a Lobster. 😉
Not been a fan of the liquid sands or any of the texture polishes – but then I really hate grit – I cannot even use sandpaper or an emery board! But there are a few shades in this group I do like! I might try one finally and see if I can deal with my issues over grit! I got over it with some glitters and would use those more if they were not such a pain to remove!

The Liquid Sands are so different than the usual grittiness you get in glitter polishes. You might be surprised how much you like it. (I didn’t think I’d like the texture, either. But…Get Your Number changed everything!)
Hrm… It’s a little frostier than I expected. I wonder if some matte topcoat would help that out? Or if it would just bork the texture…. hrm….. lol

I only applied one layer of top coat. However, this polish eats top coat, so if you want it to remain shiny like that for days, you’ll probably need to use more than one layer. And if you do that, I suggest using a first top coat that’s regular (i.e. not fast-drying) and then your final top coat can be fast-drying.
Am I the only one who thinks that this one should have been called Tiffany Case (the Bond girl from Diamonds are forever)?
Maybe its just my inner Bond geek being fussy I would have though that the Diamond Smuggler would have the diamond colour 😉
Either way, its lovely! Looks like I’m going to have to buy all six …

[I tried to like the Tiffany Case polish more than the Get Your Number, but that frosty blue just doesn’t cut it for me. I even showed my husband Mary’s comparison post, hoping he’d pick the Tiffany, but he likes Get Your Number better too!]
