After wearing OPI Polka.com over Essie Mint Candy Apple (a mint green) as a full manicure, I was itching to try layering it over other colours.
So what did I do? I scratched that itch!
My OPI Polka.com Layering Combinations confirmed my suspicions – this glittery nail polish is truly versatile.
In this post, you’ll see how it looks absolutely stunning over everything from a pale yellow to a jet black.
If you’re a fan of glitter and layering it over different-coloured basis, I highly recommend that you pick up OPI Polka.com before it’s too late. This is one of the more interesting glitters, and it creates a neat Easter-egg, speckled effect!

I don’t know why but I’m just not a fan of these glitter polishes. I just recently tired Rainbow Connection and although I totally agree that they are gorgeous, they just aren’t for me =/ so fussy!

Really? I find that glitter polishes are not fussy because you can just slap them on when you’re lazy. The only thing is removing them takes some effort. But, I understand they’re not for everyone. Sometimes a simple creme polish is beautiful!

I love it over hot pink and yellow! Although light blue is super nice as well… Sadly I didn’t grab this one.

It’s gorgeous over dark blue. I would also want to see this over a white, but I didn’t think at the time to try it out.

I think OPI Polka.com would look fantastic over a grey! Just thought of the combination now.
I recently bought OPI’s polka.com in a set with three other colours to layer it with. I really like it, but how do you get it off?! I tried the usual method for glitter polishes of cotton pads soaked in acetone with aluminium foil, but all it did was take the polish off and remove the colour from the pieces of glitter. The glitter itself was still stuck to my nails with bits of polish in between. After several tries, I had no choice but to pick the glitter off and damage my nails in the process. Any help?

Aww, you damaged your nails? I’m sorry to hear that! My remover got off all the glitter with a little bit of elbow grease. (I use the one from Sally Beauty Supply – the acetone one (not 100% acetone). It’s the pink one. There were only one or two pieces of glitter that remained, and yes, I had to pick those off.
I found this one recently on clearance at Sally’s for like a buck. The base had turned a dirty color from the glitter soaking in it so long, so they must not have used solvent-resistant glitters. I haven’t worn it yet but like Lucy, I’ve had the same experience trying to remove glitters. Some of my newer glitters and indie glitters don’t give me such a problem removing; I wonder if it has to do with the base or the type of glitter used.

Wow, what a major score? Just a buck?! Hmm…so odd to hear about the base changing colour, though. After reading your comment, I fished out my bottle from my Helmer to check if it had turned a different colour, but mine still seems okay. I wonder if there were bad batches…
I’m curious, too, as glitters seem easier to remove than many years ago. It sometimes varies from brand to brand or even collection to collection, but I see what you’re saying. It would be interesting if someone ‘in the know’ could tell us the inside scoop about if the base of type of glitter used is something new. Hmm! Interesting!
