Nicole by OPI Kardashing through the Snow Swatches & Review (Layered Over Nicole by OPI Deck the Dolls)

Nicole-by-OPI-Kardashing-through-the-Snow-Swatches-Review Nicole by OPI Kardashing through the Snow is the 2nd of 3 Kardashian Kolor Holiday polishes I have to share with you.

When I first laid eyes on it, I knew that it would be fun to use for layering. (However, in case you actually want to wear it solo, I’ve included some photos of it at 1, 2, and 3 coats to give you a better idea.)

This is a fun glitter polish that puts some pizzazz in any manicure. So it’s perfect if you have an old manicure that you want to refresh after a few days.

Nicole by OPI Kardashing through the Snow Review

Colour

There are so many great festive colours in Kardashing through the Snow: red, green, blue, gold, and silver. But it’s not the kind of glitter that’s only good for the holidays. You could wear this any time of year when you need a little extra bling.

Finish

This is a glitter nail polish, and there’s noticeable texture. When you wear this, expect to take a while scrubbing it off. For this reason, I think you should use it as a layering polish to cut down on removal time. (If you use it solo, it’s going to grip onto your nails like crazy, and you’ll probably end up spending 30 minutes just trying to get rid of it.)

Edit: With a single layer of top coat, I found that it smoothed out the texture of the glitter very well.

Application & Formula

Applying this was so easy because it went on easily, and it wasn’t difficult to get the glitter to go on evenly.

Layering

Of course I had to show you some layering ideas so you can see how it looks over different base colours.

Nicole by OPI Kardashing through the Snow Layering Swatches

Left-Right (Natural Light): China Glaze Prey Tell, China Glaze Liquid Leather, OPI Don’t Mess with OPI, Prolana Cold Hearted & Maybelline Downtown Brown

And…if you want to see what it looks like on its own, here are 1, 2, and 3 coats (left-right) over white nails. (As you can see, if you’re going to wear it solo, you’ll actually need 4 or more coats, and *shiver* imagine how hard that’s going to be to remove!)

Nicole by OPI Kardashing through the Snow 1, 2 & 3 Coats

Pros

  • Multi-coloured glitter
  • Can be used for layering to add extra bling
  • Formula is easy to work with & glitter goes on evenly
Cons

  • Has texture
  • You’ll need to use 4 coats or so for full opacity if you wear it solo
  • Will be difficult to remove

Final Verdict: 8/10

Because the glitter is suspended in clear polish, you can layer this glitter polish over any colour without having to worry that you’ll transform the base colour.

What would you layer Kardashing through the Snow over? What’s your favourite way to wear glitter nail polish – all over the nail, part of the nail, or only on an accent nail?

I like the layering combo you did with this one :). It looks like confetti on your nails. I think I’ll have to see the glitter in person, though. I love glitter but the removal drives me crazy, so I’ve started doing glittery accent nails instead of full glitter manicures. It’s easier for me to deal with removing 2 fingers of glitter rather than all 10.

      Hey Jessica!

Thank you! 🙂 Haha, yes, glitter removal can leave your poor fingers feeling raw. Good idea about just doing accent nails. Smart!

It’s beautiful over Deck the Dolls. And looks so different between natural light and flash that it has a lot of interest as well. I bet it would look gorgeous over white underwear. Another on for the ‘Christmas Wish List’. :0)

      Hey Angela!

The sun didn’t really come out while I was wearing this combination, unfortunately, but the glitter really reflects the light and is super blingy!

Yes, it would be interesting over a white, too. Lots of fun combinations you can play around with this one, thanks to the glitter being in a clear base. 🙂

      Hey rebecca!

I saw the display at Shoppers Drug Mart already, and it was one of those tall, bookshelf-type of displays. It’s really fun to see the entire collection displayed like that.

      Hey Jenn!

Haha, thanks, but the Kardashian Kolor Holiday Collection just made it a no-brainer. I seriously didn’t even have to think about the layering combination. I was already wearing Deck the Dolls, and then I saw Kardashing through the Snow. Done deal! 🙂

Yeah, the display at Shoppers is impressive! The one I saw was tall like a bookshelf. It’s so fun when displays are large like that. Makes the collection feel more special.

    Great combo with the teal!

I love glitter, but I have to be in the right frame of mind to wear it, haha, just because it’s such a pain in the butt to take off.

      Hey Amanda!

Using the teal as a base really helps the glitter stand out. But I’m curious to see other people try it over yellows and whites.

I completely understand where you’re coming from. Hehe, and a lot of times I’m in the mood for glitter, but not for the removal, so I compromise and just layer it over an existing manicure. That way I still get the bling, but it’s not as hard to remove. 🙂

      Hey NATALiJA!

Yes, it’s a pretty one, indeed…and very versatile because you can layer it over lots of colours. There aren’t any restrictions since the base is clear.

      Hey maddy!

Have you tried these little gadgets that look almost like snow globes for your nails? You fill them with acetone, put your fingers in them, wait a few minutes, and then it literally dissolves the polish without you having to do any scrubbing! I was thinking about buying a set on eBay.

Fantastic color, I loooooooove glitter. I like layering with similar colors or just piling it on the nail. Have you heard of the PVA glue base coat for glitters? I recently tried it, and it has worked like a charm for me! No more scrubbing 😀

Yes, I’ve heard of that base coat, but I haven’t tried it. That’s cool how it worked so well for you!
