SpaRitual Break of Dawn Swatches & Review

SpaRitual-Break-of-Dawn-Swatches-ReviewHere’s SpaRitual Break of Dawn, a brilliant red that’s from last year’s holiday collection called Twinkle.

You may remember a while ago, I posted a Haul of Shame post on the colours I picked up. This was one of them.

At first glance, it looks like any other amazing red nail polish (there are many of them on the market, especially around Christmas!), but don’t judge this polish completely until you see it in person and in the sunlight.

It’s far more interesting than it first appears, and unfortunately, I had some difficulty capturing all its glory with my camera, even in the sunlight photos. But, when I say that it’s amazing, I don’t say it lightly. You know that I’m not the biggest red nail-polish fan, but this one is now one of my favourite reds.

SpaRitual Break of Dawn Review

Colour

This red has a few drops of magenta in it, but it’s still a strong red. I love how it absolutely pops on the nails, and it definitely reminds me of Christmas without being just another traditional red nail polish.

The small pieces of glitter are gold, which brings a richness to the overall look. But sometimes, the gold looks orange in certain lighting!

Now, you may be thinking, this isn’t any different than many of the other reds on the market. Well, IT IS! (Sorry for yelling, haha, but I feel very strongly about this.) 😉

You can’t judge this polish until you see it in person in the sunlight. I swear that I saw flashes of pink and purple, in addition to the magenta and gold. It was very magical, but unfortunately, in all other lighting conditions, you can only see the gold and magenta. It’s almost like a secret that gets exposed only under the right conditions. Pretty cool!

Finish

The glittery finish is smooth and not gritty like a chunky glitter polish. It was also a breeze to remove.

Application & Formula

SpaRitual polishes seem to always apply so well (at least from the ones I’ve tried – I don’t have many).

It goes on smoothly and pretty even. For full coverage with this one, you’ll need to build it up, Buttercup! 😉 (Hehe, I’m feeling silly, and that song popped into my head…)

Two coats is all you need to get great coverage!

Animal-Friendliness

All SpaRitual nail polishes aren’t just animal-friendly, but they’re also vegan!

Pros

  • Interesting red polish with gold & flashes of purple & pink (in the sunlight
  • Applies smoothly & evenly
  • Requires just 2 coats for full opacity
  • Animal-friendly & vegan
Cons

  • Tough to find now because it was from the limited-edition holiday Twinkle Collection

Final Verdict: 9/10

This is a brilliant red that I loved wearing – it goes KA-POW on your nails! And the formula is so easy to work with that it’s a complete joy!

Have you tried any SpaRitual nail polishes? If so, which one’s your favourite? If not, which one would you want to try first?

      Hey Icequeen81!

They always seem to make limited-edition colours that are incredible, don’t they? 😉 But it does a great job at making us buy it quickly. Good marketing! (Maybe they’ll re-release it one day.)

      Hey Gosia!

It’s even better in person – more interesting because of the different colours of shimmer. 🙂 Aww…I hope you can track down a bottle of this!

      Hey MariJo!

You know, that’s what also makes SpaRitual polishes so special – when you just have a few, you reallllly cherish them and don’t take them for granted as much.

Wow! I may have mentioned this before, but I have always be taught that pink and red DO NOT go together… well, all those lessons were wrong because the pairing in this nail polish (with the gold… because I DO spot the gold) looks INCREDIBLE!

I have a few SpaRituals that a great friend sent my way 😉 (but I shamefully admit that they are yet untried)… must. get. on. that.

      Hey Marta!

Oh boy…haha, I totally broke that pink-and-red rule when I was in elementary school. I painted my bedroom walls pink and then stencilled red roses on my dresser. Somehow, it went together. Or maybe I just thought it did. 😉

Yay – I’m glad that you can see the gold. I wasn’t sure if I was able to capture it well enough.

Oh, you’ll LOVE your SpaRituals! 😀 And now that Sephora carries their polishes, they’re easier to find. YAY!
