Essie Tart Deco is a soft cantaloupe coral, but somehow I pulled out some pink during the photoshoot.
Random thought: Ever wonder what your nails would say if they could talk? I do…often! (I can picture them screaming, “Ohhh nooo!” whenever I wear a polish that has the potential to stain. And, no, Tart Deco isn’t a polish that stains.)
I think mine would roll their imaginary eyes at me whenever I pull out my camera. They’d say, “The paparazzi again? Why can’t they respect our privacy? Creepo!”
But really, deep down inside their cuticles, they know that they really love being in the limelight. When their 15 minutes of fame are up, they’ll be wishing that this ‘paparazzi’ busted out the camera again. 😉 All press is good press…or is it?

Essie Tart Deco Review
Colour
Tart Deco by Essie is a coral that has more cantaloupe than peach. either way, it’s delicious-looking and fresh like a piece of fruit. (Perhaps I’m hungry while I’m writing this? I doubt it, though, because I stuffed myself at dinner and even had a protein drink afterwards…)
I don’t have many colours like this, but I’m trying to add more to my collection to fill that gap. While I have trouble pulling off oranges, this type of orange coral hit the sweet spot.
Finish
It has a creme finish, so it’s plain and sensible. For a colour like this, I feel like creme finishes help it to stand out more – doesn’t really require any bells or whistles.
Application & Formula
The formula was pretty good. It was easy to control with the Essie brush, and the first coat wasn’t too streaky. By the second coat, you can even everything out and get great opacity. I don’t think you’ll need a third coat, but if you want complete opacity and zero streakiness, go for it!

Final Verdict: 8/10
Tart Deco by Essie is clean and fun to wear. It’s not a diva type of polish with lots of pomp and circumstance. It’s classy yet modern.
What’s a colour family that you’re going to try to wear more often? Do you like eating cantaloupe? What’s your favourite melon? (Mine’s watermelon!)
i love the color.. i hope essie brings it to my country soon..!!

Hey maria emma!
This colour is from a while ago…Is there a long delay getting polishes in your country? I can’t picture it being several years late. Geez, that would be horrible!
If you can’t get hold of this, maybe try Essie Haute as Hello? (I’ve also reviewed it on Swatch And Learn.) It has a similar look, but it’s also an older polish…
I love this, Tart Deco is so pretty! I don’t have it but I have Essie Haute as Hello, which is pretty similar I think. Corals are a good colour on you, Mary!
I usually gravitate towards corals and blues for nail polish. Watermelons are my favourite melon too, they’re sooo delicious! 😛

Hey Jenn!
Yes, Haute as Hello is pretty similar. Between the two, I actually prefer Haute as Hello. The formula on that one was also good, but the colour was a smidgeon better for my skin tone.
Aww…thanks! Funny how just over a year ago, I thought that corals would look bad on me, and that’s why I didn’t wear them. Then I tried one out, and was hooked! 😉 Hehe, polish has a way of hooking us, doesn’t it?
I’m going to visit my mom tomorrow, and she said that she bought a watermelon. I’m already excited about eating some…hehe, and (of course) also seeing my mom. 😛
This shade was/is so loved by many polish hounds. It came out when I was in a major buy, buy mode so of course it landed into my stash. I found this one to be too chalky white base in it for me to pull it off well. I know (now) to really watch out for that issue be it a pastel or even moving into a brighter shade as this one and also ends up in some of the taupe as well too. It’s still hard to pass on when I see this issue if the formula is a great cream – I get weak in the knees for a really good cream. Essie has this ‘good Essie cream formula,’ and their ‘bad Essie cream formal.’ Think many of us know that problem abounds with Essie. This one for my bottle fell into the ‘good Essie’ cream formula – could have been a bit thicker but leveled well and covered in 2 coats. Looks nice on you. I need to find a good home for my bottle (along with about 500 other bottles of polish that need to find good homes.
Interesting that you found this out of stock so many places. I thought Essie had put it with their classic collection shades – but they are not good about making announcements as to when they are doing a discontinue I have found since purchase by L’Oreal. They just seem to fade away. I would really like to see Essie do discontinue announcements like OPI does. I know this shade used to have a labeled area on some retail larger Essie displays.
I had no idea it would be out of stock, either! Not long ago, I thought I saw it in stock at all the popular etailers…and now…poof!
Hey beachgal!
*Woof woof woof* I’m such a polish hound. Take me to your polish pound! 😛 Hehe, I’m in a silly mood right now.
It’s good that you’re aware of the ‘chalky white base’ issue so you can avoid it and therefore also save money. I’m never sure when it comes to pastels. I always have to just wear them to find out. Sometimes it works out and other times it doesn’t. Maybe I should pay more attention to uncover a pattern…That would be smart.
yip! yip! yip! i’m a polish-hound, too! and i just scored a bottle of this tonight and can’t wait to try it out!
loved your review, btw.
ps. sorry for triple-posting!!! THIS is the comment i wish published. thanks!! xo
Hey Mellow Jessica!
Hehe, I’m glad you got a kick out of that line! *WOOF WOOF* Hehe! 😉
