Bath & Body Works Fresh Picked Watermelon Anti-Bacterial Gentle Foaming Hand Soap Review & PicturesWhoa – I can’t believe it’s already August! Can you?

I realize that a lot of you are like me and realllllly love nail polish, but it’s always good to switch it up every now and then. The last thing I want to do is to get burned out…

Today I decided to review the Bath & Body Works Fresh Picked Watermelon Anti-Bacterial Gentle Foaming Hand Soap! Wow, what a mouthful – some of the rind is stuck in my teeth! 😉

While I don’t try out tons of new perfumes, I do enjoy testing out lots of different scented hand soaps because it makes a boring thing like washing your hands way more fun and enjoyable.

As a kid, I grew up in a household where nearly everything wasn’t scented, so I must be making up for lost time!

Bath & Body Works Fresh Picked Watermelon Anti-Bacterial Gentle Foaming Hand Soap Review

Fragrance

Bath & Body Works Fresh Picked Watermelon definitely does smell like watermelon, but I wouldn’t say that it smells like a real watermelon that you’d eat. It’s more like an artificial scent that you’d get from candy.

Nevertheless, I was surprised how much I actually enjoyed it. You see, I’m not really a fan of watermelon scents in general. Well, I love the smell of real, ripe watermelon, but I find that most scents tend to be very artificial. This is the only artificial watermelon fragrance that doesn’t give me a headache, but that could be because it’s in soap form and I’m not constantly smelling it.

The fragrance is very light, and you mainly smell it just when you wash your hands. An extremely light scent will linger on your hands for a few minutes, but it won’t compete with an eau de parfum you may be wearing.

Cleaning Efficacy

Whenever I wash my hands with this Bath & Body Works anti-bacterial soap, my hands always feel very clean. Even if they’re greasy, this cuts right through it.

Packaging

I like the simple packaging, and the pump makes it very easy to dispense just the right amount of product that you need.

Animal-Friendliness

According to the label, this product wasn’t tested on animals, so if cruelty-free products are of interest to you, check this out.

Availability

This scent used to be available on Bath & Body Works’ website, but I only saw the Deep Cleansing version still there. And I’ve seen the foaming version in the store, but there are less of them around now than when I bought it months ago. So…if you like the scent, I suggest picking up more than one. I’m really unsure if they’ll bring back this scent next year. Does anyone know if it’s a permanent scent?

Value

Since this is a foaming soap, you’ll go through it faster than gel-type soaps. Keep that in mind because it means that it actually costs more money to use a foaming soap in the end. Still, I think it’s priced well because Bath & Body Works always has great sales (that’s how they suck us in!), so you pretty much never have to pay the retail price.

Pros

  • Pleasant watermelon-candy scent
  • Light scent lingers only a bit after washing your hands, so it doesn’t compete with your perfume
  • Inexpensive (pretty much always goes on sale)
  • Cleans well
  • Anti-bacterial
  • Not tested on animals
Cons

  • Doesn’t smell like a real, fresh watermelon
  • Available for a limited time as far as I know (seasonal)
  • You go through foaming soaps faster than gel soaps

Final Verdict: 6.5/10

Fresh Picked Watermelon by Bath & Body Works cleansed my hands very well, and it has an okay scent that didn’t offend my nose. But it wasn’t the type of scent that makes me want to stockpile the soap like it’s the Fragrance Apocalypse. Nothing really special here, but it’s nice enough.

What’s your favourite scent from the Fresh Picked line? Do you like watermelon scents? When’s the last time you ate watermelon? (For me, it was last month!)

This Fresh Picked line is seasonal (spring/summer), so you probably won’t see this scent again unless they decide to bring it back next year. However, they just released their fall Fresh Picked soaps: blackberry, apricot, pomegranate, and apple!

      Hey Anna Z!

Oh yes, I saw their fall ones, but haven’t smelled any of them yet. Have you? I’m curious about the apple one.

I’ve only tried the watermelon and strawberry hand sanitizers. They smell ok but they smell kind of fake. I want to try their foaming hand soap so I might stop by bath and body works soon.

      Hey maddy!

Okay, so it’s not just me who thinks it smells artificial and not like a fresh, real watermelon.

Foaming soaps are a lot of fun. Will you be trying out the new fall Fresh Picked scents that Anna Z mentioned?

      Hey Ashley!

Okay, it’s good that I’m not the only one who thinks this about the watermelon scent. I know some people who are crazzzy about it, but I just thought it was alright.

Speaking of Island Margarita…I had Slatkin & Co. candle in that scent that I wanted to review, but I seemed to have misplaced it! Not sure how, though, since I had the 14.5 oz candle! BIG!
