OPI If You Moust You Moust Swatches & Review

OPI-If-You-Moust-You-Moust-Swatches-ReviewPink polish isn’t something I typically wear, but with my newborn niece being born just days ago, I had to sport something traditional to pay tribute to her.

OPI If You Moust You Moust comes from the OPI Vintage Minnie Mouse Collection, and it’s a playful pink that I actually think looks okay on my skin tone.

Most of the time, pinks make my fingers look dirty or just ‘off’. So this was a real shocker!

Maybe if I’m able to find shades like this, I’ll be able to wear pinks more often. Haha, oh, who am I kidding? I’m a green and purple lover at heart! 😉

OPI If You Moust You Moust Review

Colour

If You Moust You Moust by OPI is a traditionally feminine pink that isn’t anything revolutionary. Chances are that the average woman who buys polish has something like this in her collection.

However, haha, I’m not the average woman – I’m the obsessed nail fanatic, so I haven’t experimented much with pinks. Pink is a novelty for me in the same vein how yellow is a novelty to the non-collector. 😉 Crazy colours speak to me.

This pink is slightly darker than what I would call a bubblegum pink. It’s not dark, but it’s also not so light that I would consider it a pastel.

Finish

OPI If You Moust You Moust is a creme polish, so there’s absolutely no shimmer or sparkle in it. It’s very simple.

Application & Formula

The formula was great! I had no problems controlling the polish during application. However, after painting 2 coats, I thought I could still see a little bit of streakiness, which is why I applied a 3rd coat.

Unfortunately, I didn’t notice that a little piece of fiber flew onto my ring finger’s nail – this was right after I used my fast-dry top coat, so it was too late to correct the issue unless I repainted it. That was something I didn’t want to do, and it only bothered me a little, so I lived with it. 😉 (That explains the squiggly textured line you may have noticed on my 4th finger if you looked closely at my swatches.)

Pros

  • A pink that I can actually wear! (*Gasp* Haha!)
  • Nice formula is easy to control
Cons

  • Not a unique shade

Final Verdict: 7.5/10

When I first laid eyes on this colour in the bottle, I thought it’d be boring. Okay, so it’s not as exciting as a multichrome, but I really ended up liking it a lot more than many pink polishes I’ve tried in the past. For a pink, it received a very high Final Verdict score from me. I’m pink’s toughest critic. 😉

What types of pinks are most flattering on you? Do you own anything with the Minnie Mouse character on it? What creme polish is one that you’ve rocked more than once?

This pink looks great on you! Cremes and pinks may not be that unique but it’s nice to wear something simple every once in a while. I’m like you though, I like a little punch to my polish. =D

Congratulations on the new addition! Your niece will be rocking some awesome manicures when she’s old enough thanks to Aunty Mary. =D

      Hey Raychul!

I agree with you – flashy is obviously really fun, but sometimes you have to suppress the bells and whistles and appreciate simplicity. 🙂 It’s a good palate cleanser, actually, as far as polishes go. Since I don’t do many neutrals, this is my ‘neutral’.

Thanks for the well wishes! 🙂 Hehe, I just hope she’ll be a nail fanatic like me. It would be heart-breaking if she ended up hating polish. Ahhh…perish the thought, right? 😉

I’m not a pink fan but this one is actually cute.

What do you use on the skin around your nails to keep it moisturized. I’ve been using Burt’s Bees Cuticle Cream but I’m not too impressed. I’ve been painting my nails a lot and the acetone is eating the skin up.

      Hey Jeanette!

Yeah, there’s something about this one, isn’t there? Makes us non-pink fans actually look twice! I wonder what it is…

Okay, I’m naughty. I hardly ever use cuticle cream, which is why my cuticles are usually not in the best shape. I don’t even use hand cream much, and I wash my hands quite a bit. When I’m good and do treat my cuticles well, I actually use the Burt’s Bees one you mentioned, and I’ve had great results with it. I even love the lemony fragrance. Hmm…but since that’s not working for you, maybe you can try Lush Lemony Flutter? I’ve heard people rave about it, although I haven’t tried it.

Mary, I think you’ve found THE pink! This is sooo pretty on you! No dirty looking fingers or clashing with the skin tone here. Gorgeous! 🙂 This sells me on the collection even more, haha! (My wallet is giving me the stink eye now. Uh-oh.) Your questions made me think and as far as cremes go, the ones that get repeated use more often than not are my nude/neutrals. OPI Tickle My France-y and Color Club Earthy Angel are a couple of my repeat offenders (probably why I have back ups of both). I’m surprised to realize it’s not something blue. Strange.

      Hey Carmela!

You think so? 😀 Now I just have to figure out what it is about this type of pink that makes it more wearable. It’s a mixture of the undertone and the saturation, I’m guessing.

Haha, just look the other way when it gives you the stink eye. 😉

Nice picks – OPI Tickle My France-y is probably my favourite neutral. It changes in different lighting and goes from conservative to edgy when you least expect it. 🙂

Okay, so I had to check this out. A pink on Mary’s blog… I thought maybe the Cheshire cat would show us his painted claws instead 😉

Congrats on the healthy niece!!! How exciting! Start stockpiling these pinks because they DO look great on you!
I tend to wear really subtle pinks OR neon pinks nowadays. A few years back this shade would have made my eyes pop out and my mouth scream “want want want”.
I passed on this entire collection… Though Minny Mouse is a common household term/name here 😉

I love to wear nude creams (beiges) as well as baby blue cream shades 🙂

      Hey Marta!

Thank you for leaving another awesome comment for me. 🙂 Really makes me smile. Once things over here calm down a bit, I need to head over to your blog and shower you with comments. (Sorry about my absence lately. I do feel really badly about it.)

Haha, have you heard of ‘pawdicures’? Not sure if you’ve ever watched Nail Files (a TV show about a nail salon), but in one episode, they paint dogs’ claws! Haha, I wouldn’t take it that far. Plus I’m not sure how healthy it is for animals…and not to mention how confused the animal must be. 😛

Yup, I was going to give away most of my pinks, but once I found out that my niece was on the way, I decided to keep them. When she gets old enough, I’ll probably give them all to her (if she likes pinks). Hahahaha…wouldn’t it be hilarious if she ended up loving green, too? (Not my fault. *Hums*)

      Hey Candice!

Thanks! I’m never sure how to pick out pinks…unless they’re rich and saturated. But for shades like this, I usually pick the unflattering one. Hehe! Go figure that PR sent me the perfect pink. 😀 I must learn the trick to picking the perfect pink for myself.

Well you know I’m a pink girl, so this is right up my alley!!! This looks gorgeous on you! You really should rock pinks more often. Seriously! I love any kind of pink. Looking forward to trying this one.

      Hey MariJo!

YES! You pull of pinks incredibly well! Do you have a trick for the types of pinks you pick, or are they just shades you naturally gravitate towards? I never know the rule of thumb, haha, and 99% of the time I pick a light-medium pink, it looks awful on me. It’s easier for me to go with deep magentas or neon pinks. Bubblegum pinks are a gamble, but this one’s close.

Congrats on your neice. She will enjoy having you paint her nail and look great. This color looks really nice on you as did the other 3 Minnie Mouse colors. I just saw them in Ulta and there was no WOW factor when I saw them. Looking at your nails I thought I would really love them. I won’t be buying the Minnie Mouse collecton. I did just buy the OPI Spiderman Into the Night (blue) and Just spotted the lizzard (gold and green). These were worht the money for me. I’m not really a pink and red person, I love blues and now greens and purples, thanks to your sight, Not blaming it on you, you’ve helped me decide on different colors to buy. Love the site, keep up the great job. Enjoy your neice. :~)

      Hey Melissa!

      Thanks so much! 😀

Good choice on Just Spotted the Lizard. That’s definitely the standout in the Spiderman collection! 🙂 I would’ve bought it, too, if I didn’t already have Chanel Peridot.

I wonder what it is about this colour that’s swaying people like you and I who don’t normally reach for pink! Hmmmm!
