China Glaze Harvest Moon Swatches & Review

China Glaze Harvest Moon Swatches & ReviewChina Glaze Harvest Moon is a brilliant copper polish, and since I don’t have much of this kind of colour, I really enjoyed wearing it. It was a breath of fresh air!

I love how this colour looks like it’s lit from within in some lighting and then has dancing shimmer in other lighting.

One thing’s for certain – this is a terrific summer colour that also would be right on point in the fall, too.

After yesterday’s China Glaze disappointment, I had to post a rave about another colour just to balance out the book. 😉 When they get it right, oh boy, do they ever get it right!

Key Notes

China Glaze Harvest Moon Review

Colour

If you want nails that ‘wow’, Harvest Moon by China Glaze is the perfect choice. It’s not an attention-seeking neon polish or a boring red. It pops and sizzles like meat on a hot grill!

This is definitely more of a copper than a bronze because it leans orange. I don’t have many copper nail polishes in my collection, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that copper looks okay on me. Thought it would be too orange and would accentuate redness, but it didn’t.

I felt so glamourous when I wore this polish. It’s sophisticated yet summery at the same time.

Finish

This is a super shimmery polish that almost has a foil-like appearance.

In the sunlight, your nails will twinkle and dance like snow. It really comes alive! Just try to stop staring at your nails! 😉

Depending on how thickly you apply the polish, you may be able to see verrrrrryyyyy slight brushstrokes. But it’s not terrible or very noticeable unless you look really closely at your nails.

Application & Formula

The formula of Harvest Moon by China Glaze is a beauty. It goes on smoothly and easily. I had no problem with goopiness, and the polish was so easy to control.

Even though I used 3 coats, you really only need 2 coats for complete coverage. I only used the 3rd coat because one of my nails had a little streakiness (due to my own application error), and I feel weird about applying an extra coat to only one nail.

OPI Warm & Fozzie vs. China Glaze Harvest Moon

When I first saw China Glaze Harvest Moon, thoughts of OPI Warm & Fozzie immediately sprung to mind, and I knew that I had to compare them.

Well, seeing them side by side made it crystal clear that these two polishes are completely different. Haha, I don’t know what I was thinking! (Maybe it’s time to make my next appointment with the eye doctor…)

As you’ll notice, China Glaze Harvest Moon is more orange and has smaller shimmer particles than OPI Warm & Fozzie (which is more of a bronze-gold-brown with reddish-burgundy larger shimmer).

Although these are both incredibly stunning polishes that I highly recommend you try, out of these two, I have to say that OPI Warm & Fozzie is the more unique one.

Pros

  • Colour has a lit-from-within look
  • Great, easy-to-apply formula requires only 2 coats for full coverage
  • Catches the light & the shimmer dances on your nails like snow in the sun
Cons

  • Copper leans heavily on the orange side, so it may be difficult for some people to pull off (Yup, I was really reaching for this Con!)

Final Verdict: 9.5/10

Copper is such a fun and classy colour to sport especially in the summer. It’ll look so amazing if you pair it with turquoise clothing or accessories!

If you don’t have anything like it already, I highly recommend you give this one a try. The formula’s great, and the colour is a beauty!

What other coppers can you recommend for me? Do you prefer bronze or copper nail polish?

This is a gorgeous color that screams “fall” to me. I haven’t worn it in forever. I don’t usually like foil-like polishes but this is just such a deep and bright color.

Wow… this is sooo gorgeous on you as a full manicure!!!! I also like how you encourage us to wear it in the summer (I kind of put it aside as a fall shade). Thus far I have used Harvest Moon as accents to a manicure with a dotting tool (and the shimmer and sizzle you speak of actually shows even on dotted surfaces… this is one intensely awesome shade).
How neat that you compared it to Warm and Fozzy… one of my favourite shades EVER because I originally passed on getting the CG shade thinking they are too similar and I try not to buy dupes… buuut I am so glad I own this one 😀

      Hey Marta!

Oh, you seriously must try using it for a full manicure. You’ll rock it like you always do! 🙂

Very cool that it can be used for dotting. I may have to try that sometime. Sigh…seems like I haven’t done freehand nail art in forever!

      Hey MariJo!

Thank you! 😀 Wasn’t sure because it leaned so orange. Maybe I can pull off oranges…There’s only one way to find out, right? 😉 (Excuses, excuses…hehehehhe)
