You may remember that I received the Yves Rocher Gentle Makeup Remover Sensitive Eyes in my Loose Button April 2012 Luxe Box.
Even though I already found my Holy Grail eye-makeup remover, I had to put Yves Rocher to the test and see how it stacked up.
This is the first Yves Rocher product I’ve tried since I was in elementary school! And I’m not really sure why…(They have a lilac fragrance that sounds lovely…especially since lilacs are my favourite flowers! Maybe I should check it out. Have any of you tried it?)
So how did this makeup remover fare? Did it pass the exam with flying colours, or did it flunk out of beauty school? You’re just a click away from the answer!

Yves Rocher Gentle Makeup Remover Sensitive Eyes Review
How Well Does It Remove Eye Makeup?
I was able to remove all of my eye makeup when using both sides of a cotton pad soaked with this Yves Rocher makeup remover. However, I had to go over the same area a few times before it all came off.
You may know that I’m loyal to the Clean & Clear Soothing Eye Makeup Remover because it dissolves makeup so quickly and easily. You hardly even have to rub, and even waterproof gel liner comes off with practically one wipe.
So, unfortunately, the Yves Rocher eye-makeup remover paled in comparison. (It had such strong competition, though…)
This formula works, but I’m used to my Clean & Clear makeup remover working faster than a ferret on caffeine! 😉
Is It Truly Gentle?
Yes! My eyes are extremely sensitive, so I was nervous to try something new on my eye area. Thankfully the claim that this product is gentle is true. I didn’t suffer any horrible reaction.
Is It Oily?
The interesting thing is that even though the eye-makeup remover I typically use is oil-free, it does have a bit of an oily film afterwards, so you need to rinse after. (Although, I tend to take my eye makeup off first and then wash my entire face.)
I was expecting this gentle makeup remover by Yves Rocher to have a similar oily feeling. However, it didn’t! It left my skin feeling soft and not oily in the slightest. In this aspect, Yves Rocher wins over Clean & Clear.
Ingredients
This contains organic cornflower water. That’s an ingredient that I don’t think I’ve ever noticed in other beauty products I’ve bought. More natural products get the thumbs up from me!
Also, it’s free of paraben, in case that’s a concern for you.

Final Verdict: 7/10
The Yves Rocher Gentle Makeup Remover is good, but it isn’t the best one to get the job done fast. If you already have it, sure, finish it, but I wouldn’t recommend that you buy this instead of the Clean & Clear one.
What do you use to remove your eye makeup? Have you ever used olive oil to remove makeup? (I read about that somewhere, but I’m too chicken to try it. I do, however, use olive oil to clean my brushes that have gunky dried gel liner – it does the trick nicely!)
Faster than a ferret on caffeine! You crack me up!
I have the same sensitive eyes and although I’ve tried both Estee Lauder and Clinique, I always buy Clinique. Clinique does leave the oily film though. In a pinch, I have used witch hazel. It’s safe and gentle (and cheap!)
Oh yeah, based on your recommendation, I’m going to try the Clean & Clear.
Awesome! It removes eye makeup so quickly and effortlessly, but it does have oiliness even though it’s oil-free!
Hey The KnitMaster!
Glad you got a kick out of it. (Apparently, the ferret got a kick, too…from the caffeine. Hardy har har…I’ll stop now. Don’t worry – this torture won’t last much longer, even though I’m tempted to continue making countless corny jokes. :P)
I’ve actually never tried using witch hazel…Interesting!
I tried the olive oil method and it was just too gross for me. I hated the oily feeling! I’ve been using the Marcelle oil-free eye makeup remover but if I’m feeling lazy (which happens often enough :P), I usually just do a one shot makeup remover using Olay cleansing cloths (http://well.ca/products/olay-2-in-1-daily-facial-cloths_31876.html) that you wet and lather. I just let it sit on my face for a minute and everything just comes off without much effort at all! Best part is it’s perfect for travel since there’s no liquid involved and it works as a makeup remover AND facial cleanser. I’d still use a toner after though, just to be doubly sure everything’s gone. 🙂

Hey Carmela!
Yeah, I don’t blame you. Using olive oil on your eye area sounds so messy. But at least you were brave enough to try it!
