OPI I’m All Ears Swatches & Review

OPI I'm All Ears Swatches & ReviewInstead of reaching for self-help books, maybe Dumbo should wear nail polish (and in particular, OPI I’m All Ears) to feel better about himself!

Perhaps he’d hit it off with Minnie Mouse, even though there are lots of tall tales about elephants being scared of mice. 😉

And will you take my temperature? I have never worn so many pink polishes in such a short period of time!

It’s actually making me miss my greens, and I never miss them because they’re usually my staple.

Key Notes

OPI I’m All Ears Review

Colour

If I wear a pink polish, I prefer to go with ones like this that are bold magentas. I feel like they never clash with my skin tone and, therefore, are easier for me to pull off. (Some light pinks can make my fingers look odd and dirty.)

The glassflecks are pink and purple, which make it a treat to gaze upon, especially in the sunlight.

Finish

I’m All Ears by OPI looks like a glassfleck jelly polish. The jelly finish allows the sparkle from the glassfleck to really shine through, and there’s a dimension that breathes life into a colour that would otherwise be ho-hum-run-of-the-mill.

Application & Formula

The formula was fantastic! It goes on smoothly, evenly, and effortlessly. It also self-levels beautifully, so even if you’re not the best nail painter, it’s quite forgiving.

However, because this has a jellyish quality, you may need to add extra polish onto the tips of your nails. I found that the polish shrunk a bit (even on its own before I applied a quick-dry top coat). If you put more onto your tips and wait a few minutes inbetween each coat, you’ll be fine.

Also important to note is that, although in my photos it looks like my nail line is highly visible, in real life, it wasn’t. I think the glassfleck helps to keep this jelly from appearing too sheer. (Also, I tend to apply medium coats, so that also helped opacity.)

Pros

  • Saturated magenta is flattering on many skin tones
  • Glassfleck jelly has dimension & sparkle
  • Formula is very easy to work with
Cons

  • You need to apply more polish to your tips (or an extra coat), as this polish tends to be thin & sheer there

Final Verdict: 7/10

OPI I’m All Ears is nice, but…haha, you know that I’m most interested in naughty polishes. 😉 And by that, I mean lacquers that have fierce attitude. I want them to growl instead of meow. So, while I liked this polish, it wasn’t love.

That being said, I put something over it, and then it was love. Want to know what it looked like after? I’ll show you in a future post, so stay tuned – I’ll show you shortly. 😉

How do you feel about I’m All Ears? Can you believe that I’ve never seen the Dumbo movie and only read the book? Do you like glassfleck-jelly polishes?

      Hey karen!

Can’t wait for you to get it! 🙂 You should try stamping over it. After I did that, wow, it made a huge difference!

Very cute 🙂 I love the colour and I love Disney anything, so this is pretty awesome that they’ve come out with a Minnie Mouse nail polish line. Can be marketed towards young girls who love anything Minnie Mouse, and those of us who can relive their childhood through it 🙂
Now, I’m curious, because of the flecks in it how easy or hard do you think this will be to remove? That is the main reason I despise “glitter” polishes – the removal of it! I get glitter everywhere and it stays around for days, even after I’ve scrubbed my fingers trying to get rid of it 🙁

      Hey Erica!

Yes, it was very clever marketing, and you don’t often see Minnie Mouse themes these days, so it’s refreshing.

I’ve been wearing this manicure for about 3 days now, and it’s time for me to try out another shade. I’ll get back to you after I remove it.

      Hey again, Erica!

It actually came off very easily. It wasn’t as easy to remove as a creme or jelly polish, but it was nowhere near as difficult to remove as a chunky glitter polish.

      Hope that helps!

Wow, I feel like I need sunglasses to look at this polish! It’s so bright and cheerful :). I’m loving those glassflecks–for some reason, I feel like OPI doesn’t actually do glassflecks that often.

      Hey Jessica!

Hahaha – yeah, it’s a very happy-go-lucky kind of colour, isn’t it? And you’re right – OPI doesn’t seem to do glassflecks as often as, say, China Glaze.

      Hey MsStephanieCatherine!

No, I wouldn’t call it a dupe. While I don’t have Meep Meep Meep, from the swatches I’ve seen online, that one has some flake shimmer. I’m All Ears is finer and there aren’t any flakes. But the base colour does seem a bit similar.

      Hey Another Cristina!

I totally understand your aversion to pinks. 🙂 Hehe, pinks are hard for me to pull off unless they’re deeper…or if they’re used in a Konadicure. 😉

Okay… I will start by saying that I passed on this whole collection… I kind of wish there was a polish in this collection that called out my name so I could get it for my daughters to say “hey, this is the Minnie Mouse OPI shade”… but what can you do. This reminds me a lot of a ‘redder’ version of OPI Be a Dahlia Won’t you (which I own).
I do like glass flecks in a polish… they add that extra something …
I remember watching Dumbo and just feeling sad… isn’t it incredible how animation can evoke such strong feelings… today I cried during the last few minutes of Toy Story 3 lol

Oh, I’m with you. When I saw Toy Story 3 in the theater, I had to stifle my sobbing. The last scene really pulled on the heartstrings. (That’s a movie I need to watch again – it was really good!)

I am in love with this nail color, a friend owns a salon/spa and I just had her do my nails in THIS polish (I’m all ears)….did I say, LOVE? Oh, oddly enough,
last manicure, I got (If you moused, you moused) not realizing that’s what it was, so I must really like this collection. Trying the one with the confetti hearts, next time…and Oh, BTW…I’m 42!
