Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter Strawberry Shortcake Swatches & Review

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter Strawberry Shortcake Swatches & ReviewOkay, okay…so I said before that after getting 3 of the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters that I wasn’t interested in any of the other colours.

A $4.99 CAD sale at Rexall changed my mind. Hahahahaha! (Hypocrite much? Oh boy…)

I picked up a few additional shades. Among them was Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter Strawberry Shortcake!

Like I’ve said before – these Revlon Lip Butters are like potato chips. You can’t just have one. And there are so many wearable shades…ahhhhh!

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter Strawberry Shortcake Review

Colour

This is a very easy colour to wear because it’s a milky pink with a bit of shimmer. It’s not wild and dramatic like a deep red. It adds just a little baby pink so that your lips are noticeably pink without being bam-in-your-face like Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Lollipop.

The colour seems to sink into lip lines, but in real life, it’s not as noticeable as in my blown-up lip swatches. It wasn’t enough to bother me.

Is It Moisturizing?

When it’s first applied, it felt very moisturizing and comfortable on my lips. However, I don’t think it’s hydrating enough to skip using a good lip balm.

If you’re going to use a lip balm but are concerned that it’ll mute the colour, I suggest applying your lip balm about 15 minutes prior to using the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter. Then, blot your lips with tissue before applying Strawberry Shortcake. You’ll have the hydration from your lip balm while still getting the maximum colour from your lip butter.

Finish

The Strawberry Shortcake Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter has a shiny finish. There’s some shimmer, but I didn’t really see it on my lips. It’s the kind of shimmer that just gives your pout a sheen, and it’s very natural, so you don’t have to worry about seeing big pieces of glitter.

When I wore Strawberry Shortcake, my lips felt very smooth and soft.

Application

I applied this directly from the tube, and it glided on smoothly and easily. Because the shade is pretty light, I had to use more than 2 swipes to build up the colour to what I wanted.

What Is the Wear Time?

While the shade Lollipop lasted a very long time on me, Strawberry Shortcake lasted about an hour before I noticed it starting to fade. I’ve noticed that the lighter in colour the lip butter is, the faster it wears off on me.

Packaging

The packaging is okay, but I wish the black bottom was taller. Then it’d be easier to open. Sometimes it’s a little difficult to get the cap off.

Also, I wish the lip butter didn’t have a wide, flat slanted tip. You can get a more-precise application with a narrower tip.

No Fragrance

I know that some people wish that these lip butters had corresponding scents. But I’m soooo glad that these don’t smell like anything.

If I don’t like the smell of something (especially something that I’ll be wearing on my lips, which are close to my nose), that’s a major deal-breaker for me. The lack of fragrance helps the lip butters appeal to more people.

Pros

  • Sweet baby pink
  • Feels hydrating (not as drying as a lipstick)
  • Gives lips a pretty shine
Cons

  • Short wear time (needs to be re-applied often), but that’s to be expected of a lip butter

Final Verdict: 9/10

The Strawberry Shortcake Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter is a colour that I’ll be reaching for often when I don’t want something dramatic on my lips. It’s an easy, everyday kind of colour.

Did you pick up Strawberry Shortcake? Are you a fan of the Strawberry Shortcake cartoon or dessert?

      Hey Brittany!

Thanks! πŸ™‚ Yeah, I think this pale pink may be tricky for some to wear. It’s not as universally flattering because it seems to have a cool undertone…at least it seems that way to me.

      Hey CupK8!

It’s a really sweet pink. At first I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off, but it worked because it wasn’t overly cool-toned.

oh my gosh, I finally fell victim to the revlon lip butters this past weekend. I researched on you tube and blogs to figure to figure out what color I wanted to try. Made my list in order of what I wanted most to least incase they didnt have what I wanted. Well it was buy 1 get 1 50% sale so I got 4. And i’ve been itching to get more >.< Strawberry Short Cake is my fave so far, then Creme Brulee. I also got Lollipop and Cupcake. I want to get Cotton Candy next and one of the darker red shades. I very rarely wear lipstick because I dont like the feeling of it and always feeling it on my lips. And I'm tired of goopy lip gloss. So this was a PERFECT medium. It's just addicting πŸ™

Omg that’s so funny how you compared these to potato chips. I also went crazy with them and ended up with 6 all at once. They are great but I agree that they’re not very moisturizing on their own. Lovely color on you!

      Hey lacquerloon!

Wow, 6 all at once! πŸ˜‰ Nice haul! The first time, I got 3, and then when they went on sale, I bought 4. Really should stop now, right? Right? What’s this silence? Haha, guess that means I may get more if they go on sale again. (Hahaha…”if”) πŸ˜›

Yay for saving money! πŸ™‚ It’s a good feeling. Haha, I know how many times I’ve been relieved when I saw a review and realized it wasn’t what I wanted. More money to spend on other stuff.

      Hey Eilen!

Glad that you’re enjoying your tube of it. πŸ™‚ It’s one of the easier pinks for me to pull off, so I reach for it very often.

Looks great on you, Mary! I doubt I can pull this one off. There’s something about paler pinks that just look off when I have them on. I might get some back ups of Peach Parfait, though! It’s the absolute perfect MLBB shade! I can wear it everyday, really. Thank you again, so so so so so so so much for snagging me one! πŸ˜€

      Hey Carmela!

Hmm…I tend to have the same problem with pale pinks on my lips (hehe, and also my fingertips). It was surprising to see that this didn’t make me look like the Snow Queen. You know how some pale pinks make your lips look like they’re frostbitten?

So happy to hear that you’re loving Peach Parfait! I was glad to have found it. Didn’t know it would be THAT challenging. Haha, it seems like everyone was trying to beat you to the punch. They must’ve been reading your comments. πŸ˜›
