I’m quickly becoming a huge fan of Shiseido skincare products. Yup, my wallet squeals like Wilbur getting a whiff of bacon, but the way it makes my skin look and feel justifies the high price tag in my book!
Today, I bring you my take on the Shiseido The Skincare Night Moisture Recharge! (This is the ‘regular version’ of the ‘enriched version’ I’ve previously reviewed on here.)
Allow me to go into further detail about its performance, how it feels on the skin, and the packaging.

Shiseido The Skincare Night Moisture Recharge Review
Moisturizing Efficacy
How do I love thee, Shiseido? Let me count the ways!
I fell in love with the Shiseido enriched version of this moisturizer, but with summer on the horizon, I knew that I had to find a lighter alternative.
Even though this is not as heavy-duty as the enriched version, don’t let that fool you. It’s still crazy moisturizing! 🙂
You know how sometimes your skin feels a bit tight or dry after washing or after a long day at work? Well, after I used this at night, I woke up in the morning with smooth and soft skin that really had a healthy glow to it.
(My skin is normally very soft and smooth, so it really speaks volumes about this moisturizer that even I noticed a significant improvement! I can only image how dramatic the effects would be for someone who has rougher skin than me.)
Consistency
I’m in love with the way the Shiseido The Skincare Night Moisture Recharge feels. It’s silky and glides effortlessly on your skin when you smooth it out and rub it in. After just a short while of rubbing it in, it absorbs nicely.
Packaging
The packaging is very handy, and I prefer it to the tub that the enriched version comes in. For one thing, this regular version is more hygienic, since you don’t have to repeatedly dip your finger directly into the product and contaminate it. It comes with a pump, so you only dispense exactly what you need, and the product isn’t exposed to air with each use.
An important thing to note, though, is that the pump doesn’t twist to close. However, the cover protects the pump. I’m not sure if it’ll spill or not if you travel with it, though…
I also prefer this packaging because it’s sleek and tall, which means it takes up less space on your bathroom vanity. It really looks sophisticated in the frosted-glass container.
How Much Do You Need to Use?
Of course this varies from individual to individual, but I found that I didn’t even need a full pump to cover my entire face. The Shiseido night moisturizer is rich and spreads out so well. I’d say that most people should be able to use just about 3/4 of a pump to adequately cover their entire face.
Considering what a small amount you need to use, it should last for quite some time.
Is It Worth the High Price Tag?
Hell yeah! I know that not everyone can afford skincare that’s this expensive. (It took a lot for me to shell out this kind of money on a moisturizer.) But, if you consider the dramatic hydrating effects, I think it’s worth it.
The way I see it is that I’d rather spend more on a product that works than spend less money on something that doesn’t work and leaves something to be desired.
When it comes to skincare and maintaining the health of your skin, I really think that it’s worth splurging on higher-end products (within reason and with your personal budget in mind). Skincare may not be as exciting or as flashy as makeup, but since skincare is a foundation for any makeup you apply, it’s worth the investment.
And if you still find it hard to bite the bullet, I suggest waiting for when Sephora has a Friends and Family Sale or a Beauty Insider special discount so you can at least knock off something from the retail price.

Final Verdict: 10/10
If you’re looking for the best night moisturizer, I highly recommend that you invest in the Shiseido The Skincare Night Moisture Recharge for the simple reason that it works exceptionally well! You will definitely notice a difference in the way your skin looks and feels.
Although Shiseido recommends that this formula is ideal for normal skin types, I think that it’s rich enough for even those with dry skin to use.
This Shiseido night moisturizer is a holy-grail product to me! I always look forward to using this because it feels soothing when first applied and then, in the morning, my skin feels so comfortable.
What night moisturizer do you use? Is there a product that you always splurge on?
I am so happy you love this! This is exactly what I’ve been using for the past couple years and my skin has definitely thanked me for it. I adore that one pump is enough to cover your entire face AND neck so the bottle really lasts you a while. I think that alone justifies the price tag! 😀
Also, notice how it has Sodium Hyaluronate in the ingredient list? That’s the same one I talked about when I reviewed the Tocca Stella hand cream that also had it. That’s the reason why your skin feels hydrated all the more! 😀

Hey Carmela!
Haha, you saved this post from having zero comments. 😛 It’s funny because a lot of times when I post about Shiseido, it gets so quiet on the blog that you can hear a pin drop. 😛
Oh, I didn’t know that Sodium Hyaluronate is the ingredient that helps skin feel hydrated more. Interesting!
I know! It’s so strange though. But I can’t stop raving about them either to anyone who’ll ask me about skincare. They’re the absolute bomb. Maybe there’s just not much to be said and people who read it just say, “okay, one more thing to put on the must buy list” and move on?

Every time I rave about Shiseido’s skincare, people normally ask how much it is. Then when they find out, they get scared. Seriously, it’s worth it! At least the moisturizers we’re using aren’t $200! :S Now, THAT, I’d never pay, even if it was incredible.
very glad to find this aswell… new using the brand.
regards.
