I’m a big fan of Shiseido skincare! Even though the price tag sends shivers up my wallet’s spine, it’s worth it.
Now, you may be experiencing deja vu right now. That’s because the Shiseido The Skincare Day Moisture Protection SPF 15 Lotion will be the 4th Shiseido moisturizer I’ve reviewed on here, and all of their packaging looks so similar!
The Skincare line by Shiseido is wonderful! My skin has never felt more comfortable and hydrated.
But…there’s one thing about this face moisturizer that I didn’t like.
Want to know what it is? You’re about to find out!

Shiseido The Skincare Day Moisture Protection SPF 15 Lotion Review
Moisturizing Efficacy
Shiseido, I love you, but you keep burning a hole in my pocket!
The Skincare Day Moisture Protection SPF 15 Lotion by Shiseido is a winner. I got this because the “Enriched version” seemed too heavy for the spring (but it’s incredible for the winter).
While this one is lighter, I found that it hydrated my skin very well. It’s recommended for those with normal to oily skin, but because it’s so effective at moisturizing, I think people who have dry skin would also notice a positive difference in their skin after using this.
When I use this (daily now!), my face never feels tight or parched during the day, so I’m sure that it hydrates well.
Consistency
Unlike the “Enriched version”, this is a lotion, so the formula is very runny. The liquid itself is white, and it glides on the skin smoothly. I just love the way it feels – not greasy, but not so thin that it disappears immediately.
Can It Be Used Under Makeup?
Yes! I’ve worn this under my primer and loose mineral makeup, and it didn’t negatively affect the finish.
Packaging
I much prefer this sleek, thin, and tall bottle with a pump dispenser instead of the tub of the “Enriched version”. With the pump, I can just get the right amount of product I need without contaminating the rest of the product.
I only need to use 1/2 to 3/4 of a pump to get enough to cover my entire face. Because the product spreads so well, a little goes a long way.
The pump, however, can’t be twisted to close and open. It’s always open. But there’s a cap to protect the pump.
Shiseido was very smart. The packaging is an opaque white. I believe they did this to protect the product from breaking down due to light. (If you leave a moisturizer in a clear container and it’s exposed to the light, it can ruin the ingredients and make them less effective.)
I also like how it’s a thin bottle. It takes up very little space on my bathroom vanity.
Is It Worth the High Price Tag?
Umm…hells to the yeah! 😉
I will be re-purchasing this Shiseido moisturizer because of the way it makes my skin look and feel. My skin is already pretty soft and smooth, but when I used this, even I noticed a difference. I bet that if you have rough skin, the difference you’ll notice after using this Shiseido moisturizer will be out of this world! 😀
The One (Major) Downside
Sadly, the SPF 15 only protects you against UVB rays. So, it’s important to note that this doesn’t provide full-spectrum UV protection, which is what’s ideal. UVA rays are what causes damage to the skin and aging. UVB rays are the ones responsible for giving you a sunburn.
On very sunny days, I actually double up to make sure I get more protection. I wear the Shiseido Ultra Sun Protection Lotion SPF 50 For Face/Body underneath this Shiseido daytime moisturizer.

Final Verdict: 9.5/10
If this moisturizer had UVA and UVB protection, I would’ve given it a perfect score! I’m in love with the way this feels on my skin, and I’d recommend it to anyone who can afford to spend a little more on skincare. It’s well worth the price!
Does it bother you if your moisturizer doesn’t have broad-spectrum UV protection? What skincare are you currently hooked on?
I personally haven’t tried this but I can’t see how it won’t be as awesome as all the others I’ve already tried from the line. I’m actually thinking of branching out to the other skincare lines and I’m looking at the Benefiance one (at least for the eye cream) and Pureness to see if it’ll work better for me. Can’t wait for the warehouse sale!!

Hey Carmela!
Yeah, the Benefiance eye cream looked interesting to me, but then I got scared away by the price tag. I know that it’s good to invest in skincare (and I do plunk down a lot of money on it), but I’ve never used ANY eye cream, and so I’m not sure if I should invest in a pricey one before I at least know the type I really want. Oh, first-world problems, right? 😉
Good luck at the warehouse sale! 😀 I know that you’re really great at finding awesome deals. Don’t know how you do it with all the elbowing that goes on there. You’re Superwoman!
Thank you so much for your review.
I bought this and night for my mom and grandma and now I think I actually going to get to myself, aswell.
I havent use the shiseido brand yet but I definitely will.
