KleanColor Chunky Holo Clover layered over China Glaze Gaga For Green was the manicure I wore for St. Patrick’s Day.
Haha, as if I needed a reason to wear green nail polish, right? 😉 I’m pretty festive all year long!
I enjoyed wearing KleanColor Chunky Holo Clover, but out of all the other colours in the Chunky Holo Collection, this surprisingly wasn’t ranked near the top of my list.
What do you think of it? And what would you layer underneath it?

KleanColor Chunky Holo Clover Review
Colour
Chunky Holo Clover by KleanColor has a green-tinted base with glitter particles that appear yellow, green, and orange. It’s very pretty in the bottle, and just as nice on your nails.
But I recommend using this as a layering polish because it’s so sheer that I think you’d have to layer a bazillion coats…and even then, you’d still see Visible Nail Line!
This polish reminds me of aliens at the disco…not that I’ve seen martians get down on the dance floor. 😉
Finish
This polish is a holo glitter that looks better in person than it does in my photos. When you layer it, it adds a lot of bling. (My natural-light photos show the glitter best, I think.)
There was some noticeable texture due to the chunky glitter, but it wasn’t rough or scratchy at all. Still, if you want to have completely smooth nails, make sure you use a top coat.
Application & Formula
Like all my other KleanColor Chunky Holo polishes, Clover reeks! I don’t mean that normal polish smell. KleanColor polishes always smell way worse to me, so make sure you hold your breath when applying this because it’s potent!
The formula was pretty good. I was able to glide it onto my nails quite easily, and the polish wasn’t thick or goopy like you might expect with these kind of chunky polishes.

Final Verdict: 6.5/10
KleanColor Chunky Holo Clover is pretty, but if you really want to take the plunge and get your first Chunky Holo polish, I recommend Bluebell or Purple over this one.
Have you tried any of the other KleanColor polishes? What would you layer Clover over?
I dont have this one. but I wonder how it looks over black or yellow. I may have to pick this one up to try.. Thanks
Hey Kim!
I find that a lot of the KleanColor Chunky Holo glitters tend to look very similar when layered over black. Hmm…over yellow sounds neat!
I agree with Mary, when they’re swatched over black, both of my Kleancolor holos look very orangey and don’t have much(any?) color shift going on.

Hey Marcia!
Thanks! 🙂 Green’s always close to my heart. 😉
I have Chunky Holo in Bluebell and Purple, but I’ve never tried layering over my other Kleancolors. (A lot of them are glitter so it wouldn’t be logical anyway.) Totally agree with Mary, these are the most hideous polishes I’ve ever smelled-by far. Luckily, their non-holo formulas are not nearly as potent. I’m having a hard time finding what to layer the holos over. They’re beautiful in the bottle but I’ve tried them over a variety of blues and purples and don’t think they translate that well. Maybe a light jelly version of the bottle color?

Hey another Cristina!
Some people like using a matte top coat over these Chunky Holos. But I’ve never tried it.
Good to hear that the non-holo formulas aren’t nearly as offensive to the nose! 🙂 The holos were the first KleanColor polishes I ever tried, so it was a shock when I cracked open a bottle. My goodness! You could use it to replace smelling salts. 😛
This is just gorgeous!!! I would probably layer it over an emerald green also.

Hey MariJo!
Polish addicts think alike! 😉
And another Lovely Green! You truly do pull these off so marvelously! Do you get a lot of people commenting on your green nails?
I really like how you just layered (no extra artwork etc). Sometimes there is such simple beauty in a layering combo.

Hey Marta!
Haha, actually, no! Believe it or not, people comment on my nails most I wear purple glitter polishes (or nail art) compared to anything else. The glittery purples aren’t wild and crazy, but people seem to talk about it more than even when I’m wearing a glittery green. (I guess there are more purple lovers where I live.) 😉
And when I wear neons, usually I find that a lot of men stare at my nails as if they’re saying, “There’s something wrong with my eyes. Why does your polish look like it glows in the dark?” Haha! I always get a kick out of the confusion on their faces.
Yup – nothing quite like layering! Easy peasy! I need to layer more often…
I agree about the smell. It’s what’s put me off from using the Chunky Holo Fuchsia you gave me (thanks again!) even though it’s an awesome glitter!
You pull off these greens with aplomb! I doubt I could as I gravitate towards darker greens or minty ones. Anything in between just looks wrong on me, somehow. 😉
