With gingerbread in the name, it was hard to resist. Would it smell like actual gingerbread, or would it be more like a ginger cookie?

Bath & Body Works Iced Gingerbread Anti-Bacterial Gentle Foaming Hand Soap Review

Fragrance

To me, the Bath & Body Works Iced Gingerbread foaming soap smells a lot more like a ginger cookie than actual gingerbread as advertised. (You may remember that the Slatkin & Co. Gingerbread Candle had the same issue.)

Even though I technically had to ‘Bust’ their claims since the main (and important ones) were simply not true (at least according to my nose), I still think that this product is ‘Trusted’ and I do recommend it.

It may not be gingerbread, but the ginger-cookie aroma is very believable and delicious – like having a real cookie in front of you every time you wash your hands. Of course, you can’t eat it…so it’s more like a ginger cookie hanging by a string from a rod, teasing you each time you wash your hands.

If you have a sweet tooth and like the sweet kind of ginger more than the raw, natural ginger smell, this will be right up your alley.

Efficacy

I’ve tried foaming soaps from other brands and really disliked them because they were always very thin, and I felt that they didn’t do a good job at cleaning my hands. So, I set out to try this foaming hand soap with that negative bias.

I’m glad that I gave this a shot because the Bath & Body Works Iced Gingerbread foaming soap is way better than all the foaming hand soaps I’ve tried in the past.

When you rub the foam in your hands, it feels substantial, and it lathers well. My hands felt very clean after using it, however, the formula is slightly drying. It’s not nearly as drying as the Deep Cleansing soaps they have with the exfoliating beads, though.

Packaging

The packaging is misleading because it shows a stack of gingerbread cookies with icing on top. If they swapped that picture out with one showing a ginger cookie with no icing, it would be more accurate.

I like how “Iced Gingerbread” is in metallic-gold script – makes the packaging seem fancy.

    Pros

  • Smells like a yummy ginger cookie
  • Foaming soap lathers & cleanses well
  • Economical (goes on sale often)
    Cons

  • Doesn’t smell like gingerbread as advertised

Final Verdict: 9.5/10

I really enjoyed the scent of the Iced Gingerbread soap from Bath & Body Works, and it made me give foaming soaps another shot.

Are you a fan of foaming hand soap? When was the last time you ate gingerbread? Have you ever eaten ginger candies?

Gingerbread is such a big weakness for me that it would be really hard to resist licking my hands. LOL

We don’t generally use foaming soaps. Since it is just my grown son and I, we usually stick with basic unscented pump soaps. My skin is sensitive and he, being a guy, doesn’t like smelling like flowers/fruit/food.

      Hey karen!

Aww…guys are missing out. Maybe if they come out with soap that smells like leather, tobacco, and soot they’ll like it. (Ewww! :P)

Actually, my mom’s the same way. (Not about liking those smells…haha!) She’s been using a lot of simple, unscented hand soaps. But recently when I went to visit, I brought her some Bath & Body Works soaps, and she seems to like them. So now I’m the ‘soap provider’. 😛

I love gingerbread cookies! I wished it smelled more like gingerbread though. About every month, I buy my teacher a bottle of B&BW hand soap (foaming or regular) as a gift. She uses them in class instead of the ones the school provides and it smells so much better.

      Hey maddy!

What a lucky teacher to have such a thoughtful student like you! 🙂 Hehe, did you get her any ones with an apple scent? I was just thinking about the old tradition about giving your teacher an apple (I’ve never done it.), but giving your teacher apple-scented soap could be a modern tradition! 😛

Lovely crisp scent. I may have only smelled the candle in that fragrance. It was really fresh. Now I’m craving an apple! See what you’ve done? 😛

      Hey Ashesela!

Bath & Body Works sure knows how to reel us in, don’t they? 😛 They always come out with enticing scents that make it hard to not try them! (Great marketing, too, with all their fantastic sales.)

I try my best to describe products in as much detail as I can an take photos that I would want to see if I were in the readers’ position and hadn’t seen the product before. 🙂 So I’m glad you enjoyed it!

      Hey PinkGlitter!

Plus they have a bazillion different scents, so they’re way better than the plain sanitizers that just smell like alcohol!

I’m a big fan of these foaming hand soaps! 😀 I prefer these to the other kind that usually dries out my hands faster than you can say winter. I guess they can be drying, too, but I’m a lotion fanatic so my hands are perpetually lathered in the stuff and I don’t really notice any drying sensation. I was expecting a low overall score when I saw that the product was busted; good twist! 😉

I’ve also had those ginger candies. I love them for when I have a sore throat. My dad makes me ginger tea and it’s sooo soothing for a scratchy/raw feeling throat.

      Hey Carmela!

It’s good that you’re a lotion fanatic. I often forget to put stuff on my hands until they start feeling uncomfortable. Terribly, I know…

Haven’t had any ginger candies in a long time, but whenever I do, I enjoy them. They’re so different than most candies I eat, which are sweet. I like how the true ginger really comes out.
