When was the last time you had a caramel apple? For me, it was probably when I was in grade school…grade 3 or 4!
In class, we made caramel apples by melting down the caramel squares and coating the apples. It was really yummy! Not sure why I haven’t made or eaten one since.
I picked up the Slatkin & Co. Caramel Apple Candle for nostalgic reasons.
Sometimes apple scents can be really tart and strong, which unfortunately gives me a major headache. But I thought that the blend of caramel would soften the apple to my liking.
In the container, it smelled soft and delicious. But how did it fare when I burned it? There’s only one way to find out!

Slatkin & Co. Caramel Apple Review
Fragrance
Bath & Body Works says that the Caramel Apple Candle by Slatkin & Co. is a blend of golden apple, brown sugar, and creamy caramel with Anjou pear, nutmeg, and vanilla cream.
I’m not sure what Anjou pear smells like, so I can’t identify it. But I think they’re right about the apple, sugar, caramel, and vanilla. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any nutmeg from it.
What I enjoyed about this scent is that while you get the crispness of the apple, it isn’t tart or the showstopper. It shares the limelight with the caramel, vanilla, and sugar. And I think the sweet notes keep the apple from being overpowering. Overall, I really enjoyed this combination because it’s delicious-smelling and sweet, which are my favourite kind of fragrances.
I think this is a great candle if you like the smell of apples, but don’t want something that is predominantly apples. And you really have to be a fan of caramel to get down with this candle.
Scent Throw
Compared to other candles by Slatkin & Co. that I’ve tried in the past, I felt like the scent throw on the Caramel Apple candle was light to moderate. You can definitely detect the aroma wafting in the room, but it doesn’t hit you in the face with neon fists.
Burning
Normally I’ve had good luck with my Slatkin & Co. candles’ performance. Usually they burn evenly, so there’s no tunnelling or wasted wax. With this one, I got a little troublemaker. (I understand that wick issues vary from candle to candle.)
After about 30 minutes of burning the candle, one of the three wicks burned really low. This impacted the scent throw, I’m sure. After about 1.5 hours, two of the three wicks burned really low. That left just one wick burning strongly.
The first time you burn any candle, you’re supposed to burn it long enough so that the wax melts from edge to edge. This prevents tunnelling. But since I had some wick issues, it took me about 2 hours or so to do this.
Sometimes you can correct problematic wicks with repeated use. We’ll see if I can do that to this one.
Seasonal Availability
The Caramel Apple candle by Slatkin & Co. is a fragrance that came out in the fall. I know they had it last year, so this is probably a seasonal scent that’s going to come out again next fall.
It used to be available online, but it’s not listed anymore. They might put it back up, but if not, check your local store – they might have some left.

Final Verdict: 7/10
I recommend the Slatkin & Co. Caramel Apple Candle to those who enjoy soft apple scents that aren’t tart or really strong. It’s really sweet, too, so if you’re more interested in a fresh, crisp apple-type fragrance, this won’t fit the bill.
Have you tried any apple-scented candles? What’s your favourite apple dessert? When was the last time you ate a caramel apple?
Wow, I havent had a caramel apple in so long as well!
However I prefer candy apples over the caramel for some reason 😡
I’ve always wanted to try out these Slatkin & Co. candles.
So many people talk about how amazing they are and there seems to be such a variety of scents, which is great.
Hey Lawren!
You know, I have never eaten a candy apple before! Is it shocking? When I was little, it was one of the handful of things that were banned from the home by my mom. Also on the Banned List were Lucky Charms cereal, Froot Loops cereal, and all cereal that had those fun little marshmallow shapes.
I highly recommend Slatkin & Co. candles. They typically perform very well, but a good rule of thumb (for me) is that if the scent is fairly weak in the container, normally the scent when the candle’s burned is also weak. Depends what you like. I’m not into faint scents because it feels like I just bought expensive wax, but some people can only tolerate mild fragrances or they get headaches.
I see, well good to know. I’m in love with vanilla and anything that smells like baked goods, so I probably won’t have to look too far. I’ll keep the scent thing in mind when picking one up, I hate when I can’t smell the scent while burning it 🙁
Ah, how can you live without Froot Loops as a child? :O
Yeah, I don’t know how, but I survived without them. (But when I became an adult and moved out, guess what was on my grocery shopping list? Yup – Froot Loops! :P)
I love these candles! I just wish they would make the scents into little hand sanitizers or lotions or something because that’s what I usualy buy. The last time I had a caramel apple was the last week of summer. My family and I went to Blue Mountain for a week and we got beaver tails and a NY Cheesecake caramel apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Great review!
Hey maddy!
Bath & Body Works actually does have a Caramel Apple hand sanitizer. I saw it at the store (but didn’t get it because I have a huge pile to finish first). I also found it online – it’s on sale now for $0.75 USD: http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11696583&cm_vc=200
They also have this scent in antibacterial soap form. But I think they won’t be around for much longer because they’re on sale and Bath & Body Works is trying to make room for new stuff.
Oh, so you had a caramel apple not really too long ago! YUM! 😀
I got hungry just reading your review!! I love anything caramel so naturally I love caramel apples, even though I haven’t had one in a long time. Sounds like a deliciously-scented candle–I would consider trying it!
Hey Jessica!
Haha, be careful! Don’t eat the wax! 😛
If you love caramel and sweet scents in general, this will definitely be up your alley.
It’s weird but I like caramel but not when it’s on apples. I’m guessing it has to do with being a caramel purist..? So while the sweet yumminess of this would probably be right up my alley, I’ll probably pass because of the apple. Love the review though!

Hey Carmela!
Hahahahaha, that would be such a hilarious practical joke, but yeah, also incredibly mean! Hope the people have a good sense of humour! Can you imagine how disgusting the combination would be? Hahaha! Or imagine if the person ended up actually liking it. Gross either way! (Thanks for sharing. I enjoy seeing stuff like this!)
