My skin is super dry. So if I use a face sunscreen, I have to put on an extra layer of moisturizer underneath. It’s not a comfy feeling! That’s why I opt for a lotion with SPF built in. I wear it every day of the year, not just in summer. The sun doesn’t hibernate in the winter!
I decided to give the La Roche-Posay Hydraphase UV a try because it’s formulated for dehydrated skin and dry skin lacking elasticity. Yup, got that. So should you make La Roche-Posay Hydraphase your go-to moisturizer with sunscreen?

The La Roche-Posay Hydraphase UV Review
While the La Roche-Posay Hydraphase doesn’t have the thickness of sunscreen on top of lotion, it certainly has that stickiness. It takes about an hour for my skin to fully absorb the product. But once absorbed, it doesn’t turn my dry skin into an oily nightmare (which a Kiehl’s moisturizer does). And I’m happy to report that it doesn’t have any smell to it…not even the smell of sunscreen. Awesome!
As for the packaging, I really like the tall, slender bottle. It makes it easy to drop into your purse without taking up a lot of space. And it’s easy to hold, too. The pump is quite handy, and I prefer it over squeeze bottles that you have to turn upside-down to get the stuff out. Especially since this moisturizer is a ‘fluid,’ so it’s a lot more liquidy. If it’s a squeeze bottle, you run the risk of getting product everywhere.
All you need is a couple of pumps for your entire face, as the formula smoothes out easily over the skin. As promised, La Roche-Posay Hydra Phase isn’t oily at all. It actually dries quite sheer. But this is where I put the halt on the praises…
The product is specifically marketed as “Intense Hydration,” so it should be very moisturizing, no? At least that’s not my experience with it. As I have mentioned, my skin is quite dry and sometimes flakes. It does add some hydration to my skin, making it it softer, but it doesn’t deliver on the intense part nor the long-lasting promise. By mid workday, my skin is already screaming for more moisture.

Final Verdict: 6.5/10
I think this moisturizer has a lot going for it. But it fails on the two key aspects that this product is hyped up on. It doesn’t deliver on its promise of “Intense Hydration”! That’s only because I need more moisture than it offers though. If your skin is normal and not as dry, this might be a good product for you.
