TRESemme Anti-Frizz Secret Smooth Hair Creme Review & Pictures

TRESemme Anti-Frizz Secret Smooth Hair Creme

It’s been an extremely humid summer. Some day you could just be standing and sweat like a pig. And my finicky hair rebels in the form of frizz. I swear, it seeks out every last bit of moisture in the air like a stealthy ninja! Then I’m left with what looks like a hairball that my cat coughed up. It sure ain’t pretty.

So when I saw tubes of TRESemme Anti-Frizz Secret Smooth Hair Creme lining the shelves at Rexall on sale, I had to try it to see if it could tame the beast on my head.

Does it work? Let me tell you.

TRESemme Anti-Frizz Secret Smooth Hair Creme Review

Every morning, I flat-iron my hair after blowing it out with a big, round brush. After all that, it really annoys me when I step outside in weather that’s over 30 degrees Celsius with the humidity and it unravels all my hard work in seconds.

But I really dislike putting styling products in my hair because of the gross residue they sometimes leave. And certain products weight down my hair or make it look greasy – something I also don’t want. So I was skeptical about trying the TRESemme Anti-Frizz Secret Smoothing Hair Creme.

First impression? This stuff smells wonderful! It’s light, fresh, and fruity. But once it dries, you don’t really smell it anymore, so it’s perfect for people like me who don’t like being bombarded with too many different scents.

How do I apply it? After styling my hair, I put a dollop on my palm (the size of 2 peas) and rub my hands together. Then I start rubbing the product in at the ends first, working my way up to the crown. Finally, I rake my hands through my hair to help evenly distribute the product.

I absolutely love how this creme doesn’t leave any residue or oiliness and it actually softens my hair. But it’s by no means a miracle product, either. It helps tame my frizz somewhat, but my hair isn’t left as straight as I would like it. (Then again, my hair is naturally wavy and when left to dry naturally has a tendency to get very curly, so it takes a lot to keep my mane straight in humidity.)

Pros

  • Not tested on animals
  • Great fresh fragrance
  • No sticky residue
  • Doesn’t weigh down hair or make it limp/oily
Cons

  • Doesn’t leave hair super straight
  • Effects wear off after shampooing

Final Verdict: 7.5/10

If you don’t have unruly hair like mine that’s dry, wavy/curly, and gets frizzy easily, the TRESemme Anti-Frizz Secret Smoothing Hair Creme may be all you need for beautiful locks. I think most people fall in that category.

This does help reduce frizz, but I think if you want to control it completely and you have hair with a mind of its own like I do, you should consider layering this with another frizz-fighting serum for better, lasting results. I didn’t bust this product even though it didn’t work miracles for me because it provided a small albeit noticeable difference in my hair, which is extremely unusual. This is the first anti-frizz product that has ever made a difference! But my hunt continues for something better.

Which hair smoothing/straightening products have you tried and loved?

Would you suggest layering this product before or after a styling product? Lately I’ve been using regular conditioner as a styler but I notice it doesnt tame my frizz as much as I like. Do you think this product would work for my 3b hair?

      Hey CieMarquise!

I see this product as being used more after styling. It weighs down your hair a bit to tame the frizzies. Actually, I no longer use this product because I found something much better.

Now I use the MoroccanOil Oil Treatment before styling. And on humid days, I add a little extra after to tame my mane.

For you, I think that this may be too light, actually. I recommend the original MoroccanOil Oil Treatment much more than this. (I’ve reviewed it on here before in case you’re interested in comparing the two: http://www.swatchandlearn.com/moroccanoil-oil-treatment-review-pictures/

      Hope that helps!
