You may remember that a while back, I was disappointed in the Bath & Body Works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Shower Gel because it was missing the main star – the pumpkin!
Well, at the same time I bought that, I purchased the Bath & Body Works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Fragrance Mist.
I probably talk about pumpkin way too much (not just on here), but I really can’t help it. Pumpkins taste so good in pies and smell amazing in spicy scented candles! I’m always hoping to find the next yummy fragrance.
So when something pumpkiny comes out, I feel the strong urge to get it. Sadly, I didn’t fall in lust with this pumpkin body splash. Let me tell you why.

Bath & Body Works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Fragrance Mist Review
Fragrance
When I think of “Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin”, I think about a yummy just-baked pie like what the Pier 1 Imports Creamy Caramel Pumpkin Candle smelled like. Unfortunately, the Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Fragrance Mist from Bath & Body Works was a far cry from the home-baked scent I crave.
When I first sprayed it on, after the alcohol evaporated, I got an extremely perfumey aroma, which I didn’t like at all. It’s strong, so if you actually do like the scent, that may be a positive thing for you. But it gave me a headache almost instantly.
I can best describe it as a salon shampoo kind of scent with some fruity notes that I’m guessing are apple. I couldn’t detect any pumpkin, which was really disappointing.
But where the scent departs is with the cinnamon note. It’s definitely there, and adds a fun kick to the overall scent. It became more prominent with the dry down.
I much prefer the dry down because I feel like all the notes are in better balance, and the perfume part becomes more subdued.
Longevity
The lasting power on this body splash was fantastic! While it only stayed super strong for about 30 minutes, it faded to a more comfortable scent and lasted for a good 4-5 hours on me! That really impressed me because this isn’t a perfume, but a diluted fragrance mist.
Packaging
The fragrance is housed in a plastic rectangular spray bottle that’s wider at the top and then gradually narrows near the bottom, but then flares out a bit.
On the front, you see a picture of a pumpkin with the vines growing out of it. And the liquid itself is orange, which makes it festive and perfect for the fall.

Final Verdict: 4.5/10
Although the dry down was a more pleasing scent to me, I still didn’t enjoy it. I was hoping for a natural kind of pumpkin-pie smell, but instead, I got a really synthetic perfumey apple scent.
Did you try this fragrance mist? If so, what was your first impression? If not, have you tried any other pumpkin-inspired fragrances?
I’d like to wish all my neighbours down south a very Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful time with your family!
I’m just like u!! I too love ALL things pumpkin!! As soon as September rolls around I wanna break out the pumpkin candles!! I was so excited when I saw this in a Bath & Body Works in Kansas City! A chance to smell like a nummy pumpkin?! YES PLEASE!! Sadly the pumpkin scent just wasn’t there. Very disappointing! Thankfully I can still light my Yankee Candles & get the delicious pumpkin spice scent in my home.
Hey Melissa!
Oh, I’ve never tried any Yankee Candles before. Which pumpkin scent have you tried? Which would you recommend?
I love my Aunt’s pumpkin pie! It is probably the reason I love pumpkin scents. It’s disappointing B&BW can’t get these scents right. I’m wondering if their pumpkin candle from their line smells “pumpkin-y”.

Hey PinkGlitter!
Homemade pumpkin pie is always the best! 😀
I’ve tried their Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin scented candle, and it’s delicious-smelling – much more like a pumpkin pie than this fragrance mist.
I totally agree, I was just not a fan of this fragrance. It almost smelled like rotting fruit to me, yuck! Someone needs to come out with a real, true pumpkin bath and body fragrance. Philosophy has done a Pumpkin Spice Muffin fragrance the past few years, but they only have had it in the body wash, I wish they would have done it in a lotion and spray.
Hey Jacqui!
Okay, I’m both glad to know that I wasn’t alone in thinking that this fragrance isn’t so hot. But it’s also disappointing that Bath & Body Works didn’t get it right.
Rotting fruit? Haha, how lovely! 😛 I couldn’t detect that, but the perfumey quality was enough to turn me off.
I agree with you. We need a true pumpkin scent – one that doesn’t smell synthetic. Hmm…that Philosophy fragrance you mentioned sounds good enough to eat!
I like the scent of the hand soap, but don’t think I would enjoy it as a scent. Thanks for trying this out for us!

Hehe, I figured. 🙂
Hey mellinail!
It was too strong and fake-smelling. Oh well…maybe next year they’ll tweak it. (I really should just spray it in the store instead of just buying it unsniffed…)
I don’t think I’ll like this because there isn’t much pumpkin. 🙁
Today I put on the Vanilla Bean Noel pray before I left for school and it stayed on from 9:00 to past 3:30. I even had gym and we were running around and playing hockey but I could still smell the Vanilla Bean Noel spray!
Hey maddy!
Mmm…Vanilla Bean Noel is soooo yummy! Wow, it lasts a long time on you – lucky! That’s my favourite body spray from Bath & Body Works. It makes you smell edible, so it gets the thumbs up from me! 😀
I don’t really use mists, but I wanted to step in and say Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂

Hey lulu!
Hehe, I don’t celebrate American Thanksgiving because I’m Canadian, but I’m more than happy to partake in any Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals! 😛 Hehehehe! Happy Thanksgiving! 😀
I feel bad for you every time you get excited to try a pumpkin based scent and the pumpkin doesn’t quite show. 🙁 (hugs) Maybe B&BW are still refining their scents so next year’s batch might be a whole lot better. 🙂 Personally, I’m not a huge fan of mists just because I feel that I’ve outgrown them. lol! I used to rock Hawaiian Ginger by Calgon back in high school till I found my signature perfume and I’ve never quite looked back. I can see how mists can come in handy after a sweaty work out at the gym or as a quick refresher on a hot summer day though. 🙂

Hey Carmela!
I know, right? Sometimes I feel like such a chump because of all the disappointment, but…I don’t want to lose the faith in finding the right pumpkin scent in bodycare!
Usually I just stick to my eau de parfums, but I enjoy switching it up occasionally with a fragrance mist. 🙂 Hmm…Hawaiian Ginger sounds yummy!
This is an accurate review imo. I don’t own the splash but I own the Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin body lotion and the scent is the same: lacking in the pumpkin department and very strong at first! I can’t use the lotion all over my body because it gives me a headache. I’m trying to use it up though as just a hand lotion and it also fades into a more comfy smell after a while. I’m glad I read this and sadly, I won’t be purchasing this scent again. Great review!

Hey Joann!
Okay, so I wasn’t the only one who was sorely disappointed with this fragrance. It’s too bad. 🙁 The day that Bath & Body Works comes out with a true, natural pumpkin scent is the day that they’ve just created a seasonal bestseller. Hope they get it right soon.
It’s a shame that you don’t like this. I ADORE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess I’m not into the authentic smell as much as you are. I love the look of pumpkins – they are so cute! But I loathe how they taste!!! This sent suites me perfectly! I bought everything this sent comes in (wallflowers & candels included) and when Vanilla Bean Noel comes out shortly I will be buying everything I can get my hands on too since that is my second favorite scent!
oops – candle not candel.
🙂
Hey Claudia!
I’m really glad that you enjoy the scent and that it wasn’t a waste of money like it was for me.
The Vanilla Bean Noel shower gel and fragrance mist are my favourites. The first time I smelled it, it was true love – so yummy!
