Today I present the 4th (and last) glitter polish I own from the upcoming OPI Muppets Collection – OPI Divine Swine!
It follows the same suit as 2 previous glitters I’ve showed you. But this time, the small glitter is magenta. I really like this one, but Rainbow Connection still gets top honours.
The name makes me laugh only because when I think of ‘divine swine’, I tend to think of bacon, so really this colour should be reddish.

OPI Divine Swine Review
Colour
Divine Swine by OPI is one of my favourites from The Muppets Collection. Rainbow Connection definitely is the one to get, but I think this is my second favourite!
I thought that I’d be lusting after the green one more, but when I started layering this one over my purples and a black, it really impressed me. (More on that later.)
Just like Gone Gonzo! (blue glitter) and Fresh Frog of Bel Air (green glitter) from the same collection, Divine Swine also has large silver hexagonal glitter suspended in clear polish. With Divine Swine, the smaller glitter particles are magenta.
Finish & Grittiness
Divine Swine is jam-packed with lots of glitter, but the finish is much smoother than a typical glitter polish. It must be the clear lacquer that coats everything better. You definitely don’t feel it being scratchy and gritty. (Use a top coat if you want it to be even smoother.)
Application & Formula
The formula is on the thicker side, but it’s still easy to control. When you paint your nails with this, you’ll have to go back and use your brush to push some of the large hexagonal glitter and spread them out. Sometimes they clump together, but it’s not too much work to get them to separate.
You’ll want to allow each coat to dry before applying the next for best results, unless of course you plan to wear just a single layer over another polish colour (which is actually what I prefer).
The dry time is pretty good, so using multiple coats isn’t much of an issue.
Layering Experiments
I love the way this one looks over purple, berry, and black polishes! Absolutely gorgeous! It’s nice on its own, but when you layer it over another polish, it has more depth and you don’t have to think much about covering bald patches where the glitter didn’t go.
Here are some of the colours that I’ve tried underneath OPI Divine Swine. But, of course, you can layer it with whatever colours you want. If you like contrast, put a vampy or super-light shade or a non-purple shade underneath. There are so many fun possibilities!

To give you a better idea of what OPI Divine Swine looks like with just a single coat, I bared my yellow-stained nail to show you. Also, please note that I didn’t add a top coat – the shine you see is all from Divine Swine.

Glitter Removal
Glitter is so pretty and festive to wear. But then, all good things must come to an end. When it’s time to remove the ‘Swine’ from your life, it takes a little bit of effort since the glitter is so dense and there are large, chunky glitter pieces, too. It’s not gonna be as easy as removing a creme polish.

I gave Divine Swine 0.5 points more than Fresh Frog of Bel Air and Gone Gonzo! because, well, I have so many purples in my collection, and this magenta glitter polish seems to play so well with many of them. I love a polish that’s as flexible as a yoga instructor! 😀
Out of all the glitter polishes I’ve showed you, which do you like the most? The least? Are you into yoga? Does ‘divine swine’ make you think of bacon?
I wasn’t even really interested in picking this up just because I have a strange aversion to anything magenta. I don’t know, but it just rubs me the wrong way. That said, I never even thought I’d want to get this from the collection.
But your layering experiments have swayed me! (Tsk, tsk. You’re too good of an enabler..;)) I love how it looks over the dark purple! I’m curious to see how it’ll look over a blurple or indigo shade, if it’ll make the shade pull more purple because of the glitter.

This was a surprise winner for me, too. I thought for sure the green glitter would be my favourite (other than Rainbow Connection, of course). This one is just so easy to incorporate into my purple-polish collection!

I definitely like this pink one. I imagined it to be lighter, more pink than magenta but I’m glad it isn’t. It looks lovely over the darker base colors (dark red, purple, black). How many coats do you think it would need to be completely opaque. 4 or 5?
I’ve seen some sites say that the polishes will be released on nov. 11th, but nothing from OPI officially. Do you have any word of this date?

I’m glad it’s not a light pink – those are the kind I often have trouble wearing because light pinks are tricky for me: they can oftentimes make my fingers look dirty or make my skin look super yellow when it’s not.
Hmm…I didn’t use a dark red. The colours to the left and to the right of the silver swatch are both more berry-toned purplish pinks. But I guess there’s a touch of red in it. Sometimes different monitors show it as a slightly different colour.
Yes, to get it completely opaque, I’d suggest 4 or 5 coats by itself. I think it looks way better layered over another polish, though…brings it to life more.
I don’t know the official date, but I can ask PR and see what they say. 🙂
Okay, I just got the official word from PR. The OPI Muppets Collection launches on November 1st! I’ll be updating my posts to include this date.
I think I need /want just about all the glitters from this collection. the name of this though I hate it haha Divine Swine? It makes me think Swine flu or something.. lol
