If I were a moth, I’m sure I wouldn’t survive for longer than a few minutes because I’d fly to my death on the 60-watt bulb. Lighhhht! Prettttty!
When I caught sight of OPI It’s My Year, I knew that it had to be mine. And when I wore this plum polish packed with golden shimmer, it didn’t disappoint!
This polish looks very different depending on the lighting, so you’ll never get bored.

OPI It’s My Year Review
Colour
The main colour is a pinkish plum, but it’s jam packed with golden shimmer. I really love it because it changes a lot depending on the lighting. It felt like I was wearing different polishes!
Finish
It’s super shimmery! You know how in the winter, the snow glistens like crazy when the sun shines down on it? That’s exactly the effect you get with It’s My Year. You see a lot of sparkly plum in direct sunlight, but even in dim light, it’s very sparkly. In fact, in dim light, the gold takes center stage. So pretty!
Application & Formula
This applied very easily and smoothly. The dry time was average.
The only thing I noticed that was less than stellar is that this colour is prone to tip wear. I suggest adding more polish onto your tips or waiting longer before applying your fast-dry top coat to avoid this. (All of my photos above show the tip wear I’m talking about….unfortunately.)
Also, you’ll need about 3 coats to get the maximum impact of this colour. This may be a deal breaker for some, but I really don’t mind 3-coaters if the colour’s as brilliant as this. (I really only start to get frustrated if I need to apply 4 or more coats.)

If you’re big on super shimmery plum polishes, I feel like this is a must-have because it changes drastically depending on the light,which gives it a lot of character.

It’s even prettier in person. For some reason, my camera flattened the colour. It’s so shimmery in person and catches the light even when there’s not much light! If you see it in person, you’ll see what I mean. But I tried to capture it the best I could. 🙂
I love love love this but almost always seems to be out of stock. 🙁 I remember seeing a huge display once and grabbed the plum looking shade to find out it was Congeniality is My Middle Name. That shimmer is just sooo gorgeous!

Awww…really? Every time I go to my local Trade Secrets, they always have at least 5 bottles of it. Nobody in my area seems to like the colour…haha…or maybe they already bought it.
I hope you can find it soon before this collection becomes harder to find. 🙁 I know how frustrating it is to really like a colour and feel like you’re going on an impossible treasure hunt.

The one at Fairview had a bunch yesterday. It was located on the bottom of the shelf, so maybe that’s why not many people paid attention to it – poor product placement.
Hey, have you tried asking the salesperson if they could do a ship-to-store thing for you? They might be able to, and then you wouldn’t have to spend the time going out of the way for one bottle (even if it’s worth it).

This is definitely a very special colour that you don’t see from OPI a whole lot. Hmm…if a lot of people let me know that they reallllly like this polish and it’s out of stock at their store, I would consider buying a bottle and using it in an upcoming blog giveaway. So far I’ve heard from 2 people (you and Carmela). If I hear from 10 people who say the same thing, I’ll go buy that bottle (if it hasn’t sold out at my store by then).

No, I didn’t get all 4 colours in the Universe Collection. Originally I just went in for It’s My Year. Then I caught the sparkly blue one (Swimsuit…Nailed It) from the corner of my eye and caved. Considering that I was only supposed to buy one, I felt guilty for leaving with two. Guilty, but sort of happy, too. 😛
