A little while back I shamelessly did a haul post on my NYX haul from HauteLook. I wanted to do swatches on them right away, but I couldn’t really do a review unless I actually tested the products themselves. I knew the pigments would work basically the same across each one, but I needed to make sure.
So now, here is the first group of NYX Dramatic Chromatic Eyeshadow Pigments – The Blue Shadow Group. This includes Hard Core, Lagoon, Bayou, Ocean Blue, Blue Eyes, Piggy Back, Chaotic and Space.
Duh, right! Fiona jumping on the blue shadows first before any other color. Surprise, surprise. Well, you know what? Sue me! I just love blues the most, alright! 😛 I adore the color, and I love almost all the blues pigments that I got. Almost all. There are eight blues in total, and I love seven of them. Which one’s the ugly duckling that, in my opinion, won’t be a beautiful swan? Come see!
NYX Dramatic Chromatic Hard Core, Lagoon, Bayou, Ocean Blue, Blue Eyes, Piggy Back, Chaotic & Space Swatches & Pictures
NYX Chaotic Dramatic Chromatic Eyeshadow Pigment
Chaotic is a dark blue with shimmer. I don’t really know how Chaotic relates to the shade! I think it’s lovely because it’s a sophisticated blue, yet you get a sparkling twinkle.
NYX Space Dramatic Chromatic Eyeshadow Pigment
Another one of my faves, Space is a blue with a hint of dark purple mixed it. Gorgeous!
NYX Bayou Dramatic Chromatic Eyeshadow Pigment
Bayou is a true blue with glitter. Aside from the glitter, it’s kind of flat and matte. Not very interesting.
NYX Ocean Blue Dramatic Chromatic Eyeshadow Pigment
Ocean Blue has a tinge of purple with high shimmer. Love it.
NYX Blue Eyes Dramatic Chromatic Eyeshadow Pigment
Another one of my faves! Hahah. This soft icy blue shimmers for attention.
NYX Piggy Back Dramatic Chromatic Eyeshadow Pigment
Piggy Back is a powder blue with shimmer. It’s pretty, just not my fave.
NYX Hard Core Dramatic Chromatic Eyeshadow Pigment
This shade reminds me of denim. It looks more like a blue turquoise with a slight golden shimmer on top. It’s very pretty, and I love it!
NYX Lagoon Dramatic Chromatic Eyeshadow Pigment
It looks a little like a lighter version of Hard Core, but with more golden undertone. I don’t know which I like more. 😛

NYX Hard Core, Lagoon, Bayou, Ocean Blue, Blue Eyes, Piggy Back, Chaotic & Space Pigment Review
Pigmentation
I find these blue NYX Chromatic Dramatic Eyeshadow Pigments to be quite pigmented. You really don’t need a lot of product to get the maximum shade. Plus, you can also wear them wet to intensify the pigmentation even more.
Application & Consistency
It’s really a breeze to apply NYX Dramatic Chromatic Eyeshadow Pigments. Hard Core, Lagoon, Ocean Blue, Blue Eyes, Piggy Back, Chaotic & Space all are finely milled for a velvety texture that goes on silky smooth. Bayou’s the only one that’s slightly clumped, but you can easily break up the clusters using your brush. Also, this is the only color that I suffered fallouts from. Probably because it’s the only one with glitter. Out of all eight, Bayou’s my least favorite.
Staying Put
I always wear a primer with these because I’ve had not-so-happy experiences with unprimed lids and pigments. With a primer on, these last me the entire day and night.
Packaging
Just a warning though: NYX Eyeshadow Pigments all come with a cap and a lid. The lid comes tightly on; it might be hard to pry it open with your fingers. Be careful because if you use too much force, shadow can get everywhere. You can discard the lid if you want. I like to keep it on because it makes the powder slightly staticky. That way, I don’t have to dip my brush into the container to get the powder out. I just use whatever pigment’s stuck on this lid.

Final Verdict: 9.7/10
I loveeeeeeeeeeeeee these colors. I can’t choose which one I like the most. It might be Blue Eyes… or Hard Core… or Space. I’m glad I have them all because I don’t actually have to choose! 😛
Which of these blues is your favorite? Do you have the same issue with the lid being hard to open? Have you created eye looks using NYX pigments?
OMG so many pretty blues!! Even though I don’t wear eyeshadow, I can just imagine how pretty these would be when they’re worn! 😀

Ruthe, you should wear shadows! Or at least play with them. They give you so many options. 😛
I’m look for a style of blue eyes make-up at office… who can hep me? Could you tell me more detail… Thanks a lot

Hi Susan!
I have brown eyes, so I love blue eyeshadows. For blue eyes, I would suggest wearing golden and bronzy colors to pick the golden flecks in your eyes. I also love seeing silvery shades paired with blues because I personally love the icy look, but that’s just me. I think you can do a simple lid-and-contour eye or a smokey eye using these colors, and it would look awesome!
