There’s something extra appealing about a product that you just can’t quite get your hands on, isn’t there? When I first locked eyes with Eyeko Line & Shine Duo Colour Pencil for Popstar Eyes, I really wanted it. But alas, Cherry Culture was out of stock for the longest time. I swear it could’ve put a restraining order on me as I was stalking it every week to see if CC had it available.

And it finally did. To hold something you’ve wanted for so long in your hand is satisfying! Don’t get me wrong. This isn’t a HTF/discontinued nail polish or anything. It’s just… I waited months for it to be back in stock, and I’m so happy that I finally bought it!

This is the first time I’ve tried Eyeko, and I was wary about the quality at first. That’s because after falling in love with Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils, I swear no one can make me go back to hard and scratchy ones. No one! This Eyeko Line & Shine Duo Color Pencil is far from scratchy!

Eyeko Line & Shine Duo Color Pencil for Popstar Eyes Review

Colors

On one end of the Eyeko Line & Shine Duo Color Pencil for Popstar Eyes you have a vibrant electric blue that’s matte. The color is slightly lighter in my swatches than in real life. On the other end is a shimmery teal color. Both are very pretty and can definitely be the main attraction color on your lids. I love them!

Eyeko only offers Line & Shine Duo Color Pencils in three colors, which is a bummer. I’d definitely get a few more of these if there are other interesting shades!

Pigmentation

Holy pigmentation, Batman! This Eyeko Line and Shine pencil offers such pigmented colors. As you can see in the swatches, you get just as much color payoff with it alone as on a primer.

Consistency & Application

The Eyeko Line & Shine Pencil simply glides onto the lid – that’s how smooth and creamy it is. I don’t have to tug at my eyes in order to draw a line. Thank goodness because I’m really scared of doing that and damaging the sensitive eye area.

It’s on the creamy side, so I didn’t even try to wear this without a primer. (Cream shadows and I are not BFFs. Not even frenemies.)

How to Wear

On the packaging, it says that it lines, defines, shades and shines, so naturally I tested it as a liner as well as a shadow. As a liner, Eyeko for Popstar Eyes Duo Color Pencil creates a thick line on the lid. If you want something thin and subtle, this chunky pencil won’t give you that in the least. I usually line my upper lashes with a thickish line anyway, so this is perfect.

As a shadow, it offers really precise application thanks to the pencil shape. You basically just draw on the shadow. Although even with a primer on, I did get very slight melting into the lower lash line at the end of the day. It doesn’t crease on me though.

Another complaint I have if I were to wear this as a shadow is that it’s hard to blend. You can sort of smudge it out a little to soften the look, but not a lot.

    Pros

  • Very creamy & smooth
  • Easy to apply – no tugging
  • Beautiful matte electric blue & shimmery teal
  • Super pigmented
    Cons

  • Hard to blend as a shadow
  • Slight melting/smudging at the end of the day
  • Collection only has three colors

Final Verdict: 8.7/10

Sigh. Of course I’d try the blue option of the Eyeko Line and Shine Duo Colour Pencils. I need to try to stray away from wearing so much blue! But I can’t help it when blues, especially like this electric blue and teal, are just so gorgeous!

Have you tried the Eyeko brand? What’s your experience with them? Do you think they should put out more colors?
