I want to be able to pull off a sexy blood red (sounds morbid!) on my lips. But because I’m not used to that much color on my lips yet, I feel kind of weird and out of place when I have that red on. I’m slowly working up to it! For now, I feel most comfortable with sheer washes and pinks. But one day – just one day – you’ll definitely see me with lips colored with a vibrant red hue! I promise!

Until then… Today’s lip color is e.l.f. Pink Lemonade Luscious Liquid Lipstick. I believe it’s a pretty-new line because the last time I was stalking – erm, I mean browsing – their site, I didn’t see it. I purchased it on my most recent elf Cosmetics haul. Unfortunately, I only got two colors from the line. I say “unfortunately” because I’m really liking this product. I haven’t tried the other color yet, but Pink Lemonade is awesome!

Update: OK. So this line isn’t new. I just haven’t been checking out their lip section thoroughly enough. Hahah. I know better and will scour their entire site next time. Thanks, Poetic Realist. 😛

elf Pink Lemonade Liquid Lipstick Review

Color

elf Pink Lemonade Liquid Lipstick is a rosy pink that’s not too bright and not too dark. It adds a very natural hue to the lips. I think anyone with any skin tone can pull this off. It has a beautiful sheen that’s not super glossy or super blinding.

I hate some pinks that make your teeth look yellow (even if they aren’t). Pink Lemonade won’t contrast against your teeth too much to create a yellowish effect.

Scent & Taste

Pink Lemonade Luscious Liquid Lipstick by elf smells a little minty and feels like it when you apply it, too. It says on the site that the scent is Vanilla Mint, but I don’t really get the vanilla part. Either way, it doesn’t smell bad – it’s kind of pleasant.

I always talk about the taste when it comes to a lip product. I don’t eat lipsticks! But your tongue is so close to your lips – you’re bound to get a taste. Good to know: this product doesn’t taste like anything at all so you won’t get a disgusting taste at the back of your throat after you lick your lips.

Consistency & Feel on the Lips

I would describe e.l.f. Pink Lemonade Liquid Lipstick as a cross between a lipstick and lip gloss. It glides on like a gloss, but with a slightly thicker consistency like a lipstick.

It’s not heavy, although it feels just a bit tacky on. Like if you smack your lips together, you can feel them sticking a bit to each other.

I wouldn’t say that this feels super moisturizing, but it doesn’t dry out my lips. If you have super-dry lips, you might want to wear a lip balm underneath as this won’t soften them. It does, however, provide a little bit of hydration.

Application & Applicator

I like the thin applicator of elf Pink Lemonade Luscious Liquid Lipstick, just not how long it is. It measures in at 5”, kind of unnecessary. I think the mechanism that pushes the product out can be shortened by at least 1.5”.

After I first uncapped my Pink Lemonade Liquid Lipstick by elf, I was doubtful about the sponge applicator. I was wrong! I really like the sponge at the top because it creates a smooth application and helps the product glide on evenly.

When you use it for the first time, you have to click 15-20 times before any product comes out. I actually wondered if mine was broken because nothing was coming out for the longest time! After the first time, I usually click it about 4 times to get the right amount of product on the sponge.

Longevity

Pink Lemonade Liquid Lipstick by e.l.f. surprised me in this. I don’t usually put a thick layer on, just a thin enough to add color to my lips. I can get it to stay on for 3+ hours if I don’t eat or drink anything.

    Pros

  • Pretty color
  • Very affordable
  • Lasts quite long
  • Sponge for easy application
  • Offers some hydration
  • Feels lightweight
    Cons

  • Feels a bit tacky
  • Applicator stick is too long

Final Verdict: 9.6/10

Wheeeeeeee! This product makes me happy. Why, oh, why didn’t I get more colors? It’s only a dollar. I can’t remember the last time I paid just a dollar for a lipstick that has such great qualities.

What’s your favorite lip color to wear? Do you have a go-to lipstick brand? Have you tried elf Luscious Liquid Lipsticks?

I don’t have that, but my friend who owns enough makeup to open a store does. It’s not new. And that color is amazing because I used it to make a model’s lipgloss for a fashion show and I couldn’t get over it.

Oh! You mean I’ve been missing out on this gorgeous color for a while now? Sad face. 🙁

I must’ve not been paying too close attention to their lip color section since it’s only recently that I got completely infatuated with lipsticks, glosses, stains, etc. etc.

What other colors have you tried? I also have Ruby Slipper that I can’t wait to break out. 🙂

Ooohh this color is super pretty on you Fiona! I love how natural the pink looks! I have a couple of these and I really like the smell/consistency as well. Oh, and of course, the price too ;). I definitely prefer these to e.l.f.’s Hypershine glosses. The glosses are more sheer than the liquid lipsticks, which isn’t exactly a bad thing, but they’re also super nasty smelling (sickly sweet fake cotton candy ewww).

Thanks, Ruthe! What colors do you have/recommend? I think I might need to get myself some more of these!

I’ve never tried Hypershine, so thanks for the warning. Glosses that smell sickly/fake sweet are DISSSSSSSSSSgusting! 😛

I got Bark, Brownie Points, Raspberry, and Strawberry. Bark is a pretty nude color, but it was a bit too pale on me. I like Brownie Points way more than I was expecting to; it’s also a pretty brownish nude. I think Raspberry is a fail on me; it’s a strong medium pink that just looks too heavy on me, but I think it will work on you. Oh actually it’s really similar to the pink color on Swatch and Learn (to the left and right over there)! Sorry, that’s totally random :P. And strawberry and a really pretty pinkish red that gives your lips a nice light flushed red color. Sorry, I didn’t mean to leave such a long comment, lol :P.

Whoa. Whoa. Whoa.! Have you done swatches on these? I’d love to see!

I’m not really into brown lip colors. They make me feel like I’m a messy chocolate eater or something. 😛 But Raspberry and Strawberry sound awesome!

No worries, Ruthe. We love long comments. 😛

After reading this review I went and bought this in 3 colors: Pink Lemonade, Cherry Tart, and Ruby Slipper. I tried on all 3 when I got home (when I get new makeup I can never wait to try it on!)and loved them!! I have very fair skin and was worried that Ruby Slipper would be overwhelming. It wasn’t! It added a nice pop pf color without looking out of place. I am quite satisfied with the other 2 as well and I know I’ll get great mileage out of all of them. Thanks for making this great makeup discovery known! 🙂

      Hi Jessica!

I’m so glad you went out and got them and loved them! I’d love to see pictures and swatches if you can share. 🙂

I have 1 other color of this that I haven’t tried yet, but I’m dying to. It’s in queue after all the other things I have to try. Hahah.

It’s great to discover an awesome product that you can share with others. Not only is the quality great, but the cost of these elf lipsticks is also incredible. 🙂
