Nubar Indigo Illusion Swatches & Review

Nubar Indigo Illusion Swatches smallerIn my last post, I showed you an Argyle Konadicure featuring Nubar Indigo Illusion. Now it’s time to show off this baby solo without any cover-ups or push-ups.

I definitely have a weakness for multichrome nail polish because it feels like you’re wearing more than one polish all at the same time. If you’re the type of person who gets tired easily of a color, give multichromes a chance!

Depending on how the light hits and the angle of your nails, with Nubar Indigo Illusion, you’ll be able to see blue, pinkish-purple, and green!

Gotta give kudos to Nubar – they have tons of amazing duochrome and multichrome colors. While some brands shy away from unconventional hues, Nubar goes full throttle!

Natural Light – YIKES, need to moisturize my cuticles! Always looks worse in these macro shots than it does in real life.

Nubar Indigo Illusion Review

Color

Indigo Illusion by Nubar is listed as a duochrome on their official website, but it’s actually a multichrome! You see blue with a shimmery pinkish-purple flash, but when you tilt your nails, you can see a lot of green. Absolutely mesmerizing!

Even by just looking at the bottle pictures, you can tell that it’s awesome. Then when you put it on your nails, it’s like whoa!

Finish

I didn’t wear a top coat because I was using Indigo Illusion under my Argle Konadicure I showed you not long ago. Plus, you can see in my swatches above just how shiny it dries on its on. But…if you’re going to wear this by itself, I highly suggest you use a top coat to make it last longer. I like Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

Application & Formula

The first coat goes on pretty sheer, but with a second coat, it covers pretty well without any visible nail line.

The formula is smooth and liquidy. It dries fast and is easy to work with, which is exactly what I’ve come to expect from Nubar nail polishes. Perfection!

Ingredients

Nubar Indigo Illusion doesn’t contain any Formaldehyde, Toluene, or Phthalate, which makes it Big-3-Free. Unfortunately my bottle doesn’t have the full list of ingredients, so this is all the information I can provide.

Pros

  • No Formaldehyde, Toluene, or Phthalate – Big-3-Free formula
  • Smooth formula
  • Dries shiny without a top coat
  • Multichrome nail polish (blue, pinkish-purple & green)
  • Dries quickly
Cons

  • Nubar polish can be tricky to get hold of since it’s mainly for sale on the official website (that doesn’t ship to Canada)

Final Verdict: 10/10

If you love multichrome polishes like I do, you’ll agree that Nubar Indigo Illusion is a home run! It has all the visual interest you need to keep your attention, and it applies effortlessly.

What are some multichrome and duochromes you’ve fallen in love with? Are there any colors you wish Nubar would put out?

      Hey Poetic Realist!

Thanks – Nubar is the champion when it comes to duochromes and multichromes! Makes me want to collect all of them. Ever feel that way about a brand? You seem to like almost everything they put out?

Gorgeous! I’m a new reader and chanced by your blog from Google while looking through Nubar’s duochromes. Been wanting Nubar Stardust and 2010 for a while now but they don’t seem ship to my neck of the woods. Any tips where to snag one of these in Toronto? I’m headed there next week.

      Hey Carmela!

Welcome to Swatch And Learn! 😀 Hope you come back and visit soon. We update daily, so there’s always something new.

Nubar is a tricky polish to locate in a physical store. If they were more easily accessible, they’d give OPI and China Glaze a run for their money!

There are some Winners stores that I’ve seen occasionally carry Nubar, but there are usually only a handful.

The only place I can think of that definitely carries a lot of Nubar polishes (including full-collection sets) is Fernanda’s (http://www.fernandas.com), but they’re located in Mississauga. That’s where I got most of my Nubars including Nubar 2010: http://www.swatchandlearn.com/nubar-2010-swatches-review/

It’d probably be a good idea to call them first, especially if you’re mainly going for Nubar 2010, which is a limited-edition that they may have sold out of.

Hope that helps, and I hope you find the Nubar polishes you’re looking for! 🙂

      Hey Ruthe!

YES, Nubar polishes aren’t just wants. They’re needs! 😛 Hehehehe! Seriously though, Nubar really knows how to come up with multichromes and duochromes that are pretty hard to find from other brands.

The Nubar site ships to the States, which doesn’t help me since I live in Canada. But I sometimes get my Nubars from this one beauty-supply store I know of and sometimes on eBay. You should be able to get your hands on this color because Nubar brought it back due to popular demand. 😀

I’m fairly new to your blog and I love your photos and reviews! I was actually looking for a photo of Nubar Reclaim on google for my blog and found one of yours (I hope it’s alright I used it, I named your blog and linked back to you post). If it’s not okay I can remove it and I apologize. Have a lovely weekend.
