Alright, I admit: I have a sunscreen obsession. It’s the number-one prevention to aging skin! So when I keep seeing the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock name pop up in magazine after magazine, I just had to try it. Overall, I will say that I’m glad I did.

    Fast-absorbing

The Review

My previous body sunscreen is Vichy Capital Soleil (review available at a later time). Would I buy the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer sunscreen over it? Yup.

Reason: I love how it feels. They didn’t lie when they said the formula is lightweight and Ultra Sheer. It doesn’t feel like the usual sunscreen that’s uber thick and messy to put on, leaving you wondering what to do with the gunk on your palms after. This goes on easily, and it is quickly soaked up by my skin. I almost believed that it was a lightweight lotion. Almost…

Why didn’t I? Well, it smells just like a sunscreen. That’s not to say that it stinks, because it doesn’t. But you can definitely get a whiff of the ingredients. This may be because of the Helioplex formulation of Avobenzone and Oxybenzone. The combination of the two is supposed to create a longer-lasting formula for skin protection. But it might be what leads to the only claim I’d say Neutrogena failed on: it certainly doesn’t have a fresh scent.

I know there are some confusions as to whether this is a face or body sunscreen, but it is actually intended for both. I, however, do not recommend using this for the face though, even if it’s just because of the smell itself. I suggest using a moisturizer with SPF 30 or higher to protect your face instead.

    Pros

  • Very light formula
  • Doesn’t feel thick, sticky or icky
  • Absorbs into the skin quickly
  • Available in varying SPF degrees
  • Clean packaging
    Cons

  • Smells like sunscreen (not light or fresh)
  • Smell lasts through the entire day

Final Verdict: 8/10

This is a buy for those who are tired of sticky sunscreens. Tips: I put the sunblock on after my morning shower since you should let your skin absorb any sunscreen for 15-30 minutes before going out. Also, keep a bottle with you so you can reapply every few hours – also recommended for any sunscreen, not just the Neutrogena, because sunblock ingredients have a short life span and decrease in efficiency.

I’ve heard great things about this sunscreen being used as a moisturizer + foundation primer. Has anyone else used it for this? How did it fare? Fiona and I would love you to share your thoughts!
