Those who love splashes of colors on their nails might think Sephora by OPI How Many Carats is a yawn fest. But there is something sophisticated and demure about this milky white shade that’s appealing. Plus, it’s a great shade for a classic French manicure.
My issue with Sephora How Many Carats isn’t so much the not-so-exciting shade. It’s more with the quality you get. It is definitely not worth the price – an expensive price, at that! Come see why!

Sephora How Many Carats Review
Color
I usually like my nail polish concentrated and vibrant, but sometimes I like to get down and serious. How Many Carats by Sephora is described as a sheer metallic snowflake color. Sheer and snowflake – yes. But the finish is more pearlescent than metallic. There’s a fine shimmer to the color, which I think what the “Carats” refers to.
Because it’s very, very sheer, I had to apply 3 coats to get the milky shade to show up. Or you can apply 1 coat of this on top of a contrasting color, like black, for some real visual effect.
Application & Formula
I find OPI Sephora How Many Carats slightly hard to apply. It’s more on the thin side, but just like the color, it has kind of a milky consistency. It goes on kind of streaky and tacky for me. That’s one of the reasons why I used 3 coats – for an even finish. Otherwise, you can get somewhat patchy results.
My experience with Sephora by OPI Top Coat is that the formula takes forever to dry. To my surprise, How Many Carats sets faster than expected. It takes just about 10 minutes before I feel right putting on another coat, which is longer than what I’m used to from other brands, but not horrible.
Quality & Worth
I paid a whopping $12 CAD for Sephora OPI How Many Carats. Sure, it’s not as expensive as some high-end brands, but still! Even though it is very chip-resistant, I can get better quality and value with a better application from other brands. If I’m paying that much, I expect the polish to be incredible…not what I got.

Final Verdict: 6.5/10
So far, I’m not a fan of the Sephora by OPI collection. Two big names coming together don’t necessarily produce the best results. I just expected the formula of How Many Carats from OPI by Sephora to have a better consistency that’s much easier to apply. Sigh!
Is this shade too boring for you? What are your thoughts on Sephora by OPI nail polishes?
