Nicole by OPI Opal Texture - In person, this polish has way more of a true mother-of-pearl look to it with lots of pink shimmer running throughout. I wasn't able to capture it properly...

Same order as above

Note: To bring out the sparkle, you should use a shiny top coat, like I used in the above swatches. There is noticeable texture without it, and the glitter doesn’t has as much oomph when worn solo.

Official press release sent to me by PR:

Create Endless Design Possibilities!

Nicole by OPI Introduces NEW Limited Edition Texture Coat Shades for Instant Nail Art

Nicole by OPI announces the launch of four new limited edition Texture Coat hues: Opal, Quartz, Amethyst and Aquamarine. This line of graffiti-style nail art products offers a simple way to create an edgy, two-texture effect on nails with quick, at-home application.

In addition to the two-texture element, these four new line additions feature high-shine finishes. Opal Texture is a metallic, mother-of-pearl shade with chameleon-like properties that takes on a different look depending on the color over which it’s applied. Quartz Texture has a unique taupe/pink metallic hue, while Amethyst Texture and Aquamarine Texture are packed with sparkle – purple and blue respectively – for an added glittery effect.

Nicole by OPI fans not only follow trends – they create them. Texture Coat has been such a big hit with our consumers because it’s completely customizable, with endless design possibilities,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, Nicole by OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “The high-shine finishes of these metallic, opalescent, and glitter Texture shades is perfect for creating a fun look this spring and summer.”

To use this product, start with Base Coat Plus, followed by two coats of any Nicole by OPI nail lacquer. Let the lacquer dry completely before applying Texture Coat. Complete the manicure with Top Coat Plus for a high-shine finish. Texture Coat is also currently available in Gold, Silver, Red, White, Turquoise and Black.

Nicole by OPI Nail Lacquers and Nail Treatments contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde. Nicole by OPI formulas are long-lasting, fast-drying, and salon-quality. Opal, Quartz, Amethyst and Aquamarine Texture shades will be available April 2012 for $10.99 each at select Jean Coutu, Loblaw, Shoppers Drug Mart and Walmart Canada locations.

    Okay, that’ll work.

Planning on cutting my nails short this afternoon and re-painting. Have been tossing ideas around in my head all day. This reminds me of the China Glaze pink crackle that I snagged off the sale rack at Sally’s and it should go nicely with the newly short nails.

      Hey karen!

By the time I’ve replied to this post, you will have already painted your nails. Did you end up using the pink crackle, or did you change your mind in the end to something else? Polishing minds want to know. 😉

        LOL

Actually, I whacked all of them off to the fingertips and used Linkin Park After Dark with a cover of CG Haute Metal Crackle (the pink one).

Nails are getting mixed reviews. Some love it, some don’t, and others can’t understand why on earth I would cut my nails (am guessing they don’t type for a living). 😀

Haha, I know what you mean. I tend to grow my nails out until I can’t stand it. Whenever I chop them off to little nubs, I can always type faster. It’s refreshing…but then I fall in love when they get long again. Oh, can’t make up my mind about what nail length I like more. (First world problem much? :P)

      Hey lacquerloon!

I understand how you feel. There’s so much ‘crack’ around these days, and it’s so accessible! 😛 Hahaha!

I actually tried these out over an existing mani this weekend and was not impressed. I was wearing CG Kinetic Candy, a pale blue, and it only the purple one looked interesting. THe others kind of faded into the background, especially Opall. This, being crackled out and the fact that I can never find NOPIs on sale mean that I definitely won’t be buying them for myself. (I must admit, your swatches over black look nice, though.)

      Hey Another Cristina!

Sorry that these weren’t what you were hoping they’d be. Maybe they need to be used in high-contrast combinations.

I honestly think Opal is the only one I’d want to try. I saw swatches of it over an orange and I loved how it subtly looked more coral compared to the orange! Made for a fun, subtle design that crackle-phobes might actually enjoy. 🙂

      Hey Carmela!

Hmm…if you don’t mind a polish that I’ve used to swatch on a nail wheel once, I’d be more than happy to send Opal your way. Let me know! 🙂
