L’Oréal Colour Riche Le Vernis à l’Huile Jardin des Roses

L'Oreal Jardin des Roses

They didn’t promise you a rose garden, but here’s one anyway. 🙂

It’s L’Oréal Colour Riche Le Vernis à l’Huile Jardin des Roses!

To get the opacity in my photo, I used two generous coats.

The formula was smooth, easy to apply, and very shiny. Pictured above is what the nail polish looks like without a glossy top coat.

I love the the bottle design – so elegant and luxurious. It looks much more expensive than a drugstore polish.

Wishing you all a Happy Monday and a great start to a fresh new week!

L’Oréal Le Vernis à l’Huile Violet de Nuit Swatches & Review

L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Vernis a l'Huile Violet de Nuit Swatches Review

L’Oréal Le Vernis à l’Huile Violet de Nuit comes from a new line that launched this month, which features over 20 shades. (A handful of additional colours will be coming out in November 2016.)

The line  boasts the first oil-based nail colour that contains Rose Oil, Lotus Bloom Oil, Camellia Seed Oil, and Argan Oil, all of which help to enhance the colour depth.

The L’Oréal Le Vernis à l’Huile nail polishes come in a unique rectangular bottle with a beveled design that’s aligned with the brand’s elegant branding.

The Flexor brush has wide, rounded bristles, which is particularly handy if you have wide nail beds and want to cover more surface area with a single stroke. (According to the press release, there are 440 soft bristles.)

This sultry deep purple creme was the first of all the L’Oréal Le Vernis à l’Huile nail polishes that I wore as a full manicure.

Here’s what I thought of the colour, formulation, and patented brush.

L’Oreal Owl’s Night Swatches & Review

Sunlight L'Oreal Owl's Night Swatches & ReviewLookie what I found on my computer: photos taken with my old camera several weeks ago!

This is the limited-edition L’Oreal Owl’s Night!

The first thing I noticed when I laid eyes on the bottle was that the gold shimmer caught the light like a supermodel who knows her best camera angles.

I probably would’ve never had this in my possession if it hadn’t been for Carmela’s generosity. She went to the States and brought me back this gorgeous bottle! It was a thoughtful surprise! (You can check out her blog here.)

When I wore this, I was in this phase where I was really feeling dark polishes, so this fit the bill well. Plus the sexy shimmer really made this lacquer special. Continue reading

Nail Art: Hong Kong Flag Nails & Tutorial

Image of Hong Kong Flag Nails** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

So a couple of days ago, I did a nail design for the Canadian flag. My patriotic love doesn’t end at Canada. I was born in Hong Kong where I studied until grade 2 before my family moved to Canada to avoid 1997. We didn’t know what would happen when Hong Kong was returned to China, so we upped and crossed the ocean with everything we owned. I think moving to another country is the change that has affected me the most in my life. It was hard because the cultures and practices are so different. But since I was young, I was able to adapt more easily than the rest of my family.

I miss Hong Kong, but the one thing I don’t miss is the heat there. I’m sorry to all the summer lovers out there – but I can’t stand the heat (so I got out of the kitchen). The sweat, the stickiness, the stench, the sun in your eyes, the dehydration, the feeling tired, the… you get the idea. It doesn’t help that my car’s A/C died and is spewing hot air. BTW, does anyone else ever wish that you could change your car’s color like you change your nail polish? So many times I’ve wondered what my car would look like with a certain polish on.

WOW. I digress. Sorry! Here is my design for Hong Kong Flag nails. It also looks like a cool floral design, doesn’t it? I really like it (not to pat myself on the back or anything :))!

Best Drugstore Beauty Products & Finds

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

It’s gee-golly swell if you can afford to drop $30 on a lip gloss and $50 on a face primer. But really, a lot of us just don’t have the budget to do that – not even once in a while!

So when it comes to beauty products, I’ve learned not to discriminate. I’ve also learned that there are a lot of great drugstore products out there that do an awesome job, but for way less. You end up getting more makeup and products that you love for the money you’re willing to spend. And who doesn’t love that? 🙂

Today, I want to share with you the best drugstore beauty products & finds that I’ve come across. Let me know if you agree with any of these or if there are products you’d recommend! Continue reading

L’Oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base Review & Pictures

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

When I first saw the L’Oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base, I laughed. “Secrets?” “Magic?” C’mon! With words like that in the name, this product is setting itself up for failure… Right?

Or so I thought. I saw it on sale for almost 50% off at the drugstore, and I couldn’t resist picking it up. It’s no miracle product by any means, but I am now a believer in this magical secret. It’s a quick and easy step in my makeup routine that makes me feel better about my skin. Come see exactly why. Continue reading

L’Oreal HiP Concentrated Shadow Duo Review – Wicked

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

The L’Oreal HiP Concentrated Shadow Duo in Wicked is my third product from the HiP collection. I’ve previously tried the Metallic and Bright Duos, neither of which quite blew me out of the water.

I went with Wicked because I have such a soft spot for purples. And I just had to have this vibrant purple that looks like an amethyst gem! So…my thoughts on this L’Oreal HiP shadow? Continue reading
