Smith & Cult She Said Yeah is a nod to nail luxury at its finest with a muted periwinkle that whispers sweet manicure lullabies!

Depending on what kind of lighting you’re under, Smith & Cult She Said Yeah can lean purple or blue, but it always falls under a charming periwinkle that I feel is great for spring, easter, or whenever you want an easy-to-wear colour.

Smith & Cult is a new-to-me brand that has a 5-free formula. I’m very excited to share my first review on it!

Interesting tidbit: Smith & Cult’s founder, Dineh Mohajer, is the same person who started Hard Candy!

I can’t remember ever seeing Smith & Cult nail polishes sold in Canadian stores, but maybe one of the merchants I linked to will ship to Canada. (Note: None of them are affiliate links.)

Smith & Cult She Said Yeah Review

Colour

She Said Yeah by Smith & Cult is a medium periwinkle that’s not too light and not too dark – just right, Goldilocks!

When I looked down at my nails, sometimes they appeared to lean purple, but other times, blue. That’s the beauty of a good periwinkle – you can enjoy the slight shift.

Finish

Featuring a simple creme finish, it doesn’t compete with the colour. Instead, the shade shines through beautifully.

As is common with cremes, this one was also easy to remove quickly and without any hassles.

Application & Formula

She Said Yeah by Smith & Cult flowed onto the nails easily, and it had a smooth formula, which was easy to work with.

To get full coverage, use two to three coats. (I used three coats because one of my nails was a bit uneven, due to my own application, and I wanted to make them all look uniform.)

How Do You Paint with the Large Cap?

The large round cap can make the painting process cumbersome, but don’t worry – it’s just a cover!

Twist it clockwise, and you can pull it off, which will reveal a smaller, more manageable cap. This is easier to use.

But since I took a photo, can we admire the artistic cap? It’s not just a regular round one. It has some indentations that make it look unique among my collection of nail polishes.

Ingredients

All Smith & Cult nail polishes have a 5-free formula, which means it doesn’t contain any DBP, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, or Camphor.

The Brush

The brush has a shorter handle than other polishes I’ve used, but the brush isn’t as skinny as the ones on Essie nail polishes. It’s not quite as wide as the OPI Pro-Wide brushes.

Bottle Comparison

The bottle is HUGE, and it has a good weight to it, which is why it feels so luxurious to me.

The bottle got my attention immediately because I haven’t seen a design quite like it. Not only is the bottle’s diameter larger, but the cap has neat indentations that make it look like a work of art that you’d want to display.

Below, I’ve photographed it beside an OPI bottle to give you an idea of the size difference.

Keep in mind that you’re roughly getting the same amount of nail polish (Smith & Cult’s 14 mL compared to OPI’s 15 mL).

Also worth mentioning is that the combination of the weight and wide base makes the Smith & Cult nail polish very stable. You won’t have to worry about accidentally tipping the bottle over.

For the ‘normal’ consumer, these bottles are easy to store. However, if you’re a nail-polish addict (like me) with hundreds or thousands of bottles, it can be more challenging to store, as it takes up more space.

Smith & Cult She Said Yeah is the kind of polish that’s fun to splurge on because the packaging is unique and not run-of-the-mill. It’s the kind of lacquer that you’ll want to leave out on your vanity because it’s pretty and elegant with the gold scripted font and the interesting silhouette of the cap.
