Slatkin & Co. Pumpkin Cupcake Candle Review & Pictures

Bath & Body Works Slatkin & Co. Pumpkin Cupcake Candle Review & PhotosThis review on the Slatkin & Co. Pumpkin Cupcake Candle from Bath & Body Works was a long time coming.

You see, before it was even released in stores, I ordered it from the website when I found an amazing 30% off coupon code that could be used on top of the 2 for $20 USD 3-wick candle sale, and the Canadian dollar was strong.

I waited. I waited and waited. And then I waited some more. Finally, I decided to inquire about why it was taking so long for my package to arrive in Canada.

Turns out, my order arrived damaged at Purolator, so Purolator sent it back to Bath & Body Works in the States. I contacted Bath & Body Works, and they said that I’d need to re-order it. They have good customer service and said they’d honour the sale prices (but not the 30% coupon code). They also offered to give me complimentary shipping.

I took all this as a sign that I was supposed to save my money. So I didn’t re-order it. Instead, I thought that I’d just pick up the candle in-store.

Well, I stalked Bath & Body Works for weeks, and they didn’t get the Pumpkin Cupcake candle for the longest time. Then…I got very busy and didn’t check. It was only very recently when I went back. And…the salesperson said they were all out of them a long time ago. Seeing my extreme disappointment, she offered to check the back ‘just in case’.

She found the very last one! And guess what? Apparently on her way back to me, there was a guy who was asking for the Pumpkin Cupcake candle…Haha, but too bad for him because that last one went into my greedy little mitts! *Squeals*

Slatkin & Co. Pumpkin Cupcake Candle Review

Fragrance

When I first heard that there was going to be a Slatkin & Co. Pumpkin Cupcake candle, I knew it had to be mine because I’m a huge pumpkin fan, and I really love Slatkin & Co.’s Frosted Cupcake candle.

Although this one’s called Pumpkin Cupcake, what I smelled was more like a sweet pumpkin muffin. Nevertheless, what I smelled made the Pumpkin addict in me swoon. And it made me crave a pumpkin dessert – the candle is deeeelliiicccious! (No, I didn’t eat the wax, silly!) 😉

The pumpkin scent is more like a pumpkin pie and not just a fresh pumpkin. It’s definitely a yummy bakery type of fragrance, and that’s my favourite kind.

Scent Throw

I’ve had mini candles and 3-wick candles before, but this was my very first small Slatkin & Co. single-wick candle. I was extremely pleased with its performance!

Based on the small size, I was almost sure that it would only be good in a very tiny space, but I decided to try it several times in different locations. I found that even in my small living room (which isn’t tiny, but it’s not big, either), the scent throw was amazing! Within about 10 minutes, the scent had filled the air.

The scent is moderate in terms of intensity. It isn’t so strong that it forces its way into your nostrils, haha, but you don’t have to strain to get a whiff. 🙂

Burning

Like so many Slatkin & Co. candles that I own, this one was no different – it burned evenly, and the wax pooled from edge to edge. The single flame remained strong the entire time, too, which really surprised me. Sometimes even 3-wick candles I’ve tried have flames that get weaker over time. But this single-wick one stayed strong for a very long time!

Seasonal Availability

Unfortunately, by the time you read this review, most of the Pumpkin Cupcake candles will be sold out. But I still believe in reviewing this because some of you may be able to find a few in the clearance section…or you may have one stashed away in a closet. Bring it out, and burn, baby, burn!

This was a fall scent, and I really hope it returns next year. Of course, I have no idea if it’ll come back, so if you’re lucky enough to own it or find it on clearance, cherish it!

Pros

  • Pumpkin-pie muffin type of scent (delicious!)
  • Strong flame
  • Great scent throw
  • Burns evenly
Cons

  • Tricky to find now because it’s seasonal

Final Verdict: 9/10

I really wish that my original Bath & Body Works order arrived because I would’ve had 2 of the large 3-wick candles. Then I wouldn’t have to ration this small one. (However, I am VERY grateful to even have this one! I’ll be cherishing it for sure!)

Have you tried any other pumpkin candles? Are your experiences with the Slatkin & Co. 1-wick candles as good as mine, or do you think this is the exception to the rule?

I love everything pumpkin – I even take the part most toss when they scoop one out making a jack-o-lantern for Halloween and I bake mine up like most do with sweet potatoes – it tastes great! I am sad that I cannot burn real candles anymore where I live. The place is tiny and with the 2 new Co2/smoke detectors every candle sets them off. So now I use only flamless ones which is safer with the neighbor’s cat around all the time. I did smell this particular one at a friends home and thought it was lovely. Time to brew up a pot of pumpkin spice tea for breakfast now!

      Hey beachgal!

Oh, I’ve never tried doing that with the pumpkin’s insides before. Sounds like a good idea, plus it’s good that you use the whole pumpkin. No waste! *Thumbs up*

Haha, oh, sorry to hear about your very effective smoke detectors! 😛 Yeah, I feel ya on the small living quarters. My place is like a shoebox, so when I burn my candles, I put it far away from the detector and closer to the window (just in case I need to blow it out and then open up the window to air it out).

Mmm…pumpkin spice tea? What brand is that? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pumpkin tea before, only pumpkin-flavoured coffees! Do tell!

Mary , I think they should have honored your 30% code. It wasn’t your fault it was damaged while shipping! Didn’t try this one even though I love pumpkin everything!

      Hey Barbara!

If I had pressed them about it, they probably would’ve given me my 30% off, too. But I didn’t bother asking since I decided to just not re-order everything. (Actually, it would’ve been a splurge – $80 on TONS of candles. Crazy, right? So maybe it was good that this happened. It’s sometimes too easy to place orders online…hehe! Impulse purchases!)

I just got my first candles from B&BW a few weekends ago. I fell for their 2/$20 sale on the 3 wick versions. I got a Sandalwood Vanilla one that is to DIE for, well for me, at least. Sandalwood Vanilla is one of my absolute favorite scent combinations of all time. I love that it is potent enough that I can smell it as soon as I walk in the door even if it isn’t burning. It makes my home feel so much cozier.

The other one I got was Lemon, which I love in my kitchen, it gets rid of all the cooking smells after the fact and just generally makes the room smell fresh and clean.

      Hey Heidi!

YAY for getting your first candles from Bath & Body Works! 😀 I’ve never actually smelled that Sandalwood Vanilla candle you mentioned. I’ll have to check it out the next time I go to the store.
