You know how much I love me some green nail lacquer, so when I first heard about the limited-edition Sephora by OPI Caught With My Khakis Down from the Safari Luxe Collection, I couldn’t resist!
Had no idea that this fatigue green would land in my list of top 5 green polishes of all time! It’s so different than all the other greens in my collection.
It’s too bad my camera didn’t do it justice, though. For some reason, I could only capture it being either super gray or with too much teal. In person, it’s a touch more primary green and a lot more dusty – definitely a grayish green.
Let me get into the nitty gritty of it and tell you why Caught With My Khakis Down is a winner in my makeup book!

Sephora by OPI Caught With My Khakis Down Review
Color
The grayish green in the Sephora by OPI Safari Luxe Collection intrigued me because it’s so different from the other green nail polishes I own. As the name suggests, it reminds me of green khaki pants.
Sometimes dusty colors have that ‘sleepy look’, but that doesn’t apply to Caught With My Khakis Down. Sephora by OPI really nailed it because it’s muted and sophisticated. (Plus I think that it’s very flattering on my skin tone.)
This hue would look so hot if you’re wearing brown or beige clothes and gold or bronze accessories!
Application & Formula
This is the second Sephora by OPI nail polish I’ve ever tried. (The first was Metro Chic, which I previously swatched and reviewed.)
I’m so impressed by the formula and totally wasn’t expecting it to be this good since I’ve read lots of bad reviews on some other Sephora by OPI colors.
Caught With My Khakis Down is the perfect consistency – not runny, not thin, and not thick. It goes exactly where you want it to, it’s smooth like butter, and get this – it’s freakin’ opaque in just one coat!
I would compare this formula to the pricier Rescue Beauty Lounge’s formula! (I did use 2 coats, though, because I always feel wrong about using just one coat unless I’m layering.)
The dry time on this was pretty standard – nothing to write home about.
Been wearing it for 3 days, and so far there’s not a chip in sight. But I can usually wear the same polish without any retouching for 7 days easily.
Brush
The brush is thin, but it does a great job at picking up enough polish so you don’t have to keep re-dipping.
Bottle Shape
Sorry, but I’m not a fan of the bottle design…and especially not of the handle. It looks like a MAC lipstick cap. And the bottle itself has the illusion of being round when it actually has a square bottom. This isn’t really a big deal to me, but I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel to find something wrong with this polish…haha!
Ingredients
This polish is free of Formaldehyde, Toluene, and DBP, making it Big-3-Free!
Price
Sephora by OPI has been nicknamed $OPI because it costs more than regular OPI nail polish. Trust me – the color and the formula of Caught With My Khakis Down is totally worth the $12 CAD because it applies as effortlessly as an $18 USD Rescue Beauty Lounge polish.
Name
When I first saw it, I thought it was Caughty With My Khakis Down instead of Caught With My Khakis Down since caughty sounds like hottie.
Some people may take offense to the name, but it doesn’t seem that vulgar to me. It’s not nearly as risque as the Cheeky Monkey polish names!
Actually, I would’ve liked the name more if it was called Caughty With My Khakis Down like I originally thought because I appreciate a good pun.

Final Verdict: 10/10
Sephora by OPI Caught With My Khakis Down is a must-have muted green because not only is the color special, but the formula is spot-on. I recommend you get this ASAP since it’s a limited-edition color.
Are you a fan of dusty shades? Which is your favorite green nail lacquer? What polish have you tried that pleasantly surprised you? If a nail polish had a lewd name, would it deter you from purchasing it?
I absolutely love this shade of green, and it looks spectacular on you!

Awww…thank you so much! 🙂 This is definitely one of my favorite green nail polishes.
What a pretty color I am a sucker for greens too! (have you tried Zoya apple?) Cute name for the polish it made me chuckle.

Hey Amber!
No, I haven’t tried Zoya Apple, but I’ve seen so many amazing swatches of it. Gorgeous!
The flash is more accurate! its a light beautiful green color! definetly nott a color u see alot
Hey Jessica!
Think I took a hundred photos in various lighting, and my camera couldn’t seem to pick up the right color. Such a pity because this fatigue green is so beautiful and needs to be shared.
Do you have any other fatigue greens? They’re hard to come by, so any recommendations would be appreciated. Chanel had one that looked nice. Do you have it?
this is by far the BEST nail polish i’ve ever bought in my entire life!
i was just out with my girl friends at sephora one day and i was looking at their polishes. at the time i was looking for a pretty color gray just like essie’s but i was just in sephora at the time when the thought popped up in my head. anyways, a found “caught with my khakis down” thinking it was gray and when i tired it out. my heart sank. i gasped because its a BEAUTIFUL color! gray/green mossy color. totally beautiful and definitely worth the money. well…if it was $8 then yeah haha.
Hey auriely!
Glad that you loved the colour! 🙂 It’s so great – applies smoothly and is really pigmented. People who’ve had bad experiences with Sephora by OPI polishes should definitely try this one because it was a breeze to work with.
But, yeah, I wish that it cost less, too.
