Officially launching in April, the OPI SoftShades 2016 Collection includes six pastels that will put an Easter Bunny hop in a nail-polish enthusiast’s step!
My heart fluttered when I saw the pale green (This Cost Me a Mint), and the sunny yellow (One Chic Chick) is right up my alley.
These polishes spell spring to me, and I love how, this year, OPI decided to go with opaque shades instead of sheers.
All of the OPI SoftShades 2016 Collection colours would combine brilliantly together, so those nail enthusiasts among us who love to do dotticures or more complicated designs will appreciate the cohesive theme.

Pastel Power
OPI SOFTSHADES 2016
April showers bring May flowers…and Pastels, six freshly minted OPI SoftShades. Softly shaded, seriously opaque and knockout gorgeous, these pastels are unmistakably there. Pale lilac, yellow and green redefine cool, while creamy white makes an indelible impression. Baby peach and blue have never looked more grown up. All are demure with a bit of an edge, and über chic.
“Inspired by the spring 2016 runways, we offer a fashion-forward interpretation of the pastel palette,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder and Brand Ambassador. “Instead of the expected sheer and muted look, we’ve chosen a finish that adds a ‘mod’ element to our shades without diminishing their refinement.”
“This is a color story we absolutely love,” adds Weiss-Fischmann. “Our pastels play well together, and create a myriad of sophisticated, feminine looks from accent nails to French tips and nail art. Plus, they bring plenty of modern romance to bridal, prom and other spring/summer occasions.”
OPI SoftShades 2016 Pastels include the following shades in both nail lacquer and GelColor formulas:
It’s in the Clouds
I’m storing this creamy white in memory forever.

Which colour in the OPI SoftShades 2016 Collection do you like the most? If you could add an extra colour to the collection, what would it look like?
I love This cost me a mint and I am what I amethyst the most. But the whole collection is gorgeous.
Hey Chloe!
Out of all the SoftShades from the last few years, this one’s my favourite colour palette! Usually OPI does pale pinks and sheers, so this was a refreshing twist.
I’m going to go broke buying all of the polishes!!! They’re all so pretty, but as a green fiend, it’s This Cost Me A Mint is calling my name. LOL Thanks for letting us know about this new collection. Can’t wait to see your review on them.
Hey Melissa!
Haha! Every time I hear about your wishlist getting longer, I imagine your wallet looking at you with wide, watery eyes…and your nails grinning like the Cheshire Cat! 😉
I’m not usually drawn to pastels but these are all gorgeous!
Hey Deanna!
This collection is like a basket full of Easter eggs! 🙂 I really love how OPI included a green. (They don’t seem to create as many greens, compared to other colours, so whenever I see one, it’s extra special.)
Haha the first thing I did when reading this was to try and say “One Chic Chick” five times fast! So excited for this collection. I’m hoping It’s a Boy! might be a dupe for What’s With the Catt-itude since I missed out on that one.
Hey Jessica!
Hehe, it’s quite the tongue twister, isn’t it? 😉
Oh – it would be awesome if It’s a Boy! was a dupe. When I see that polish in person and swatch it, I’ll pull out my bottle of What’s with the Cattitude and compare them. In that post, I’ll try to remember to mention whether it is or isn’t a dupe.
Hey Jessica!
Just wanted to let you know that I did comparison swatches of OPI It’s a Boy! and OPI What’s with the Cattitude? for you.
I published the photos in the post called “OPI SoftShades 2016 Collection Swatches”, which you can find here: http://www.swatchandlearn.com/opi-softshades-2016-collection-swatches/
They aren’t dupes. Turns out that they’re very different. It’s a Boy! is much paler and more white-based, compared to What’s with the Cattitude?, which is more saturated.
Hope this helps!
Wow, I can’t wait to get my hands on this. I am a sucker for soft shades, and these are all so pretty. I am sure I have dupes, but nothing in my collection of OPI’s that would dupe these..
Hey Rachel!
Out of the SoftShades collections from the past few years, this is the one that I’m most excited about! 🙂 Hehe, plus there’s a GREEEEENNNN!
