OPI Nordic CollectionIt’s the summer, but I have the OPI Nordic Collection Press Release to share with you. (This is the OPI Fall/Winter 2014 collection, and it will hit stores on August 6th.)

Haha, after such a long winter, I’m sure that you don’t want to be reminded of the cold, but at least you can feast your eyes on the wide variety of shades!

PR was very generous, and they’ve already sent me a few shades to wear and review, so stay tuned.

If you followed me on social media, you may have seen the little clip I posted on Instagram, showing you some shades of the actual bottles.

OPI Launches the Nordic Collection,
Featuring 12 New Shades for Fall/Winter 2014

Inspired by the great northern lights in Finland, deep blue fjords in Norway, and colorful houses in Copenhagen, Nordic Collection by OPI brings the diverse colors of its namesake region to nails and toes for fall/winter 2014. This new collection of 12 lacquers features a palette ranging from spicy browns in shades of bronze, cinnamon and caramel to rich purples in wine, black cherry and blue-violet hues, with accents of creamy coral, pink and sea green.

“When creating colors for a new seasonal collection, I always draw inspiration from the food,
music, art, landscape and street style of a particular destination,” remarks Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder & Executive VP. “While conceptualizing the shades of the Nordic Collection, I ate cinnamon buns and drank glogg, snapped photographs of brightly painted houses, and gazed in wonder at the region’s topography – from the northern lights and midnight sun to lava flats and deep fjords. All of these diverse elements came together to inspire an equally varied array of colors that capture the aesthetic of the Nordic region.

“Contrasts were also seen on fall runways, where sheer fabrics were paired with fleece and
woolen plaids were embellished with colorful beadwork and intricate lace,” adds Weiss-Fischmann.

“Nordic Collection by OPI complements the oxblood, coral and earthy tones seen this season and offers a variety of hues. With so many color choices, the Nordic Collection makes it easy to experiment with new nail looks and cultivate personal style. I believe strongly in experimenting with beauty and fashion until finding a unique look. We are sure of only one taste – our own.”

    Hey Mary! I’m most excited about My Voice is a Little Norse and My Dogsled is a Hybrid. I’ve never had glogg before! Have you? As for a destination…I’d have to say the Caribbean Islands. There’s so much color to draw inspiration from!

      Hey Stephanie!

      While it’s not conventional, I’m all for it! I like wearing shades, even when they’re not ‘seasonally appropriate’. The way I see it is that they add a pop of colour to weather that can sometimes be dreary.

      I’ve been noticing that more and more nail-polish collections are including shades that aren’t ‘seasonally appropriate’. It’s interesting!

    I like the bright colors from this collection.. The green is awesome. 🙂 Not so sure about the brown shades, since those usually don’t suit my skin tone but overall this is a nice balanced collection. I’ve seen some swatches in the meantime and I must say: the collection is kinda growing on me.

    I’m still ambivalent about this collection. Somewhat it seems to me it is a mish-mash of different styles: summer neons brown shimmeries and autumn darks. I really love the coral one, especially since it’s still warm and sunny where I am 😉

      I can see how this collection could be critiqued for having colours that aren’t as ‘cohesive’, but I like how it’s all over the place. It’s like there’s something for everyone!

    I’m pretty sure I say this with every OPI collection but, this one is my favorite! I am super pale (think Wednesday Addams) and this collection has some gorgeous shades that would work well with my skin tone.

    From the entire collection, I’ll say I love ‘My Voice is a Little Norse’ the most. ‘Skating on Thin Ice-Land’ is another good one for Canadian winter.

    I love every color that is in this collection. I use to be a manager at a beauty supply store some twenty plus years ago and that’s when I got my first and only bottles of OPI. I haven’t been able to afford OPI in years so I am entering this contest with all the hope in the world to get a few more added to the 13 I have. Wonderful colors!

    The one that immediately draws my eye is the bronze shimmer, and I would definitely like to see it reviewed here. It looks like it could be incredibly streaky… Plus, “Do You Have This Color in Stockholm?” looks amazingly intense and I would love to see how the color looks on a real person.

    Quite intriguing collection: so many purples and a green (unusual for fall). I’m a bit on the fence about all those brownies, and the pink seems already seen, but, all considered, I’m excited enough about this collection.

    Love this collection! I love, love love that they didn’t make it all full of “fall-appropriate” colors, but decided to sneak in some funnier ones! “My Dogsled is a Hybrid”, “Do You Have this Color in Stock-holm?” and “OPI with a Nice Finn-ish” are already on my wishlist. 😀

    The more information I read about this collection, the more I really like all of the colors. I am leaning more towards the vampy darker colors, but the tans and brighter colors are really growing on me

    To be honest I’m tired of OPIs fall collections already. The release the same old navy blue/dark plum and neutral shades … This collection rings between San Francisco and Euro Central.
    The only polish I love is My Dogsled is a Hybrid and I will be buying it.

    Do You Have this Color in Stock-holm? looks like a colour I already own, but of course I also want this one… 🙂 I do love the OPI brush! Viking in a Vinter Vonderland looks lovely, I have been debating on which vampy purple to get… maybe it’ll be this one? (or A Grape Affair or Vant to Bite my Neck… so hard to choose!!!). I’m looking forward to your swatches and reviews on those especially.
