Quick Look: OPI Hawaii Collection Swatches, Photos & Press Release

OPI Hawaii CollectionLast week was pretty amazing because I got to attend back-to-back exclusive nail-polish events: the Nicole by OPI 2015 Collection Blogger Dinner on Thursday and the OPI Hawaii Collection Media Launch on Friday! (Many thanks to PR for the invitations!) 🙂

Today, I have a Quick Look Post on the OPI Hawaii Collection for Spring/Summer 2015, which will hit stores on February 4th, 2015.

At the OPI Hawaii Collection Media Launch, PR was generous to provide me with all 12 shades contained in a beautiful collectible keepsake box! 🙂 They also graced me with the official press release, promotional card, and nail-swatch board, so I could share further information with all of you.

Included in this Hawaii Collection by OPI are bottle shots that I eagerly photographed, so you can see each shade up close and personal!

My initial reaction when I first ‘lei’-ed eyes on the OPI Hawaii Collection? *Jumps up and down after seeing two greens* (Hehe, I couldn’t resist the corny pun!)

Also, I thought that the gold with glitter was so different than the rest. It’s wild, crazy, and unexpected from OPI, which makes me curious to wear it even more! 😉

Overall, the Hawaii Collection by OPI explodes with a wide variety of colour, which jives with my mental images of Hawaii’s lush scenery! (What a wonderful way to temporarily ‘forget’ about winter coming and focus on spring and summer, right?)

This is one of my favourite OPI collections since the OPI Brazil Collection, and I’m excited to wear and review a bunch of them. (Check back soon for my separate blog posts on select shades, and feel free to let me know if there are particular ones that you’re most interested in seeing in-depth first!)

There are 12 colours in the OPI Hawaii Collection:

Let’s take a peek into the box, shall we?

OPI Hawaii Collection Press Release

Aloha from OPI!

OPI Launches Hawaii Collection Featuring Twelve
New Nail Lacquer Shades for Spring/Summer 2015

Hawaii Collection by OPI brings the fresh, bright colors of its namesake islands to nails and toes for Spring/Summer 2015. This new collection features a palette ranging from muted tones of mint, peach, pink and nude to bolder hues of coral, green, purple and gold to deep tones of mauve, violet, brick red and shimmery blue.

“After the long months of winter, women are eager to embrace color – from soft pastels to bold accents to gleaming metallics,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder & Brand Ambassador. “Caught in a perpetual state of spring, the Hawaiian islands were the ideal inspiration for this year’s seasonal collection. OPI looked toward the surf, sand and sunsets found at Hawaii’s beautiful beaches, as well as the islands’ lush greenery, tropical flowers, and colourful fish, to create 12 fresh new nail shades.

“Printed, flowing fabrics dominated spring runways, with patterns and graphics in both bold and muted hues. Warm, ethereal neutrals in shades of rose, peach and mint added a soft, feminine note,” continues Weiss-Fischmann. “That’s Hula-rious!, a pastel mint green from the Hawaii Collection, was seen at Charlotte Ronson’s Spring/Summer 2015 New York Fashion Week show; this shade was used to create a cutout half moon manicure that complemented the designer’s youthful presentation.”

Hawaii Collection by OPI includes the following shades in both nail lacquer and GelColor formulas:

I always have to laugh at the names they chose, they are so creative! Love a good pun, lol.

Also, the colours in this collection are fantastic. I’m totally in love with That’s Hula-Rious!, Lost My Bikini in Molokini, Do You Take Ley Away?, This Color’s Making Waves, Is Mai Tai Crooked… well, with more than half of the collection. Ouch.

      Hey Carla!

Yeah, they usually come up with names that make me smile or giggle. And some are just so funny, and you have to get them for your collection, even if it’s solely based on the name!

Haha, wow, yeah, you like a lot of the colours in the collection, but I’m not surprised. The OPI team did a great job with this collection!

I really like Suzi shops and island hops and Go with the lava flow! I’m usually very much into greens and blues, but not this time I guess. How awesome by the way that you got to go to those events!

Looking forward to your posts! Not really seeing the Hawaiian theme in all the colors, this collection seems less cohesive than the Brazil ones. Kind of all over the map, right? Like an Essie collection! LOL and I would have really loved it if the model on the black sand beach(hello, Big Island!) looked Hawaiian. So many gorgeous models in Hawaii looking for work OPI could have come up with a local girl for the campaign. Speaking of black sand beach, where is the ubiquitous black polish in this collection?? I am eyeballing the shimmery ones, the blue, Lanai (mauve is not a color you associate with hawaii at all, but I love it) and the Lava Flow one.

      Hey Lorraine!

Yeah, I’ve been noticing that lots of nail-polish companies have been putting out more variety in each collection. It’s like a web that “traps” us nailphiles because it appeals to pretty much everyone! Clever!

Hmm, I think they probably left out a black because they didn’t want to stray too far from the Spring/Summer theme. But if they included one, it surely would’ve made a dramatic statement!

I was in Maui last summer and fell in love. So when I saw that OPI’s 2015 Spring theme was Hawaii, I couldn’t wait to check it out. While beautiful and probably nicer in real life, they all seem dull and uninspired to me given the magnificent splendour of Hawaii. There should have been at least 3 blues, since the ocean and sky change a million shades of blue in one day. Also, what about the gorgeous sunset colours? That one orangey-red doesn’t cut it. Sorry, but I am completely disappointed. I think I would buy the mint green just because it is something different. I may change my mind once I see them for real…

      Hey Shar!

Ohhhh, soooo lucky! It’s a dream of mine to vacation in Hawaii, but that doesn’t look like it’ll become a reality any time soon. One day, though! 🙂 We all need to dream!

Aww, sorry to hear that you feel disappointed by this collection. Yes, it’s surely difficult to capture all the beauty of Hawaii, which is so rich in beauty, colour, and culture. Hopefully the colours speak to you more when you see them in person, and even if they don’t, at least you’ll save money. It’s a win-win situation either way!

I like both of those greens! I went to Hawaii as a middle-schooler and it was the vacation of a lifetime. If you ever go, be sure to see the black sand beaches. I hope to get back there someday. 🙂
