OPI Hallowe’en 2011 Press Release & Pictures

OPI Halloween 2011 Duo Pair Em Scare EmWhile I’m saving my Hallowe’en nail-art tutorials for October, that doesn’t mean that I can stay tight-lipped about Hallowe’en stuff in general. You know that it’s one of my favourite holidays! 🙂

Since the first press release I posted on Swatch And Learn got a warm reception, I’ve decided to share the latest OPI Hallowe’en 2011 press release with you just in case you haven’t seen it yet.

This year there are two sets available: OPI Pair’em Scare’em and OPI Spookettes!

OPI Halloween 2011 Mini Spook-ettes

What am I looking forward to the most? The green glow-in-the-dark Zom-Body to Love, of course! (And what an awesome name!)

But I also think the mini bottles are really cute and collectible. I have a bunch of mini sets from previous collections. They’re good value and an excellent way to test out colours that you either don’t want to commit to or you just don’t need a full-size bottle of. But keep in mind that the brushes are also tiny. (This may be a plus if you have small nails!)

Keep reading to see larger photos of both of these sets.Up first, we have OPI Spookettes:

(Check out my swatches and review of the OPI Spookettes set here!)

If you’re just getting into nail art, I think the mini set is great because you’ll get black and white polishes, which you’ll find yourself using a lot to create eyes.

And then there’s OPI Pair’em Scare’em, which has full-sized bottles:

In case you’re curious, check out my OPI Black Shatter swatches and review that I’ve previously posted on Swatch And Learn to see what a cool effect it creates!

Here’s the official OPI press release:

Look Frighteningly Fashionable with OPI!

No Tricks, Just Treats with New OPI Halloween Nail Lacquers

Celebrate the scariest day of the year with OPI’s Halloween-inspired nail lacquers, available in two promotional gifts sets. For a limited time only, OPI will offer the new Spook-ettes mini pack, which includes four mini lacquers: He’s My Boo (a scary orange), Mummy Knows Best (a spook-tacular white), I Only Date Werewolves (a bewitching black) and Zom-Body to Love (a glow-in-the-dark green).

The Spook-ettes mini pack also includes free nail decals, along with instructions on how to create different nail art designs using the lacquers and stickers. For example, create a two-toned look with “Jack-in-the-Moon,” featuring a grinning face in a white full moon on a black nail, or go bold with “Welcome to Spider’s Corner,” showcasing a creepy-crawler layered over a bright orange hue.

Additionally, the Pair’em Scare’em duo pack will bring Zom-Body to Love and OPI’s bestselling Black Shatter together in a hair-raising pair. Inspired by graffiti art, Shatter leaves behind a crackled, two-texture finish when painted over completely dry OPI nail lacquer. Paint Shatter over two coats of Zom-Body to Love and add a top coat for a one-of-a-kind, glow-in-the-dark manicure.

“Halloween motivates us to express wild, imaginative concepts through hair, makeup, nails and costumes,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “The Spook-ettes and Pair’em Scare’em lacquers allow consumers to get fun and creative with our Halloween colors by pairing them with themed nail decals or adding the captivating shatter effect.”

OPI products contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and feature OPI’s exclusive ProWide™ Brush for the ultimate in application.

Spook-ettes ($16.95 CAN) and the Pair’em Scare’em duo pack ($20.95 CAN) will be retailed at Professional Salons and Spas.

A very long time ago (1970s), I would get glow in the dark EVERYTHING. Posters, stickers, paints… but I don’t remember polish available then. A group of friends went to concerts and we girls would paint our nails and outline our eyebrows with glow in the dark paint. That was fun!

I don’t currently own any glow in the dark paint and I gave up all my crackle polish to my friend – she works wonders with the stuff and I can’t make it look like anything but a mess. But real polish that glows? Oooh, I might have to go shopping!

      Hey Debi!

Haha, you cracked me up with that opening: “A very long time ago”… 😛 When I read something like that, I think of the 1920s or earlier. 😛 Hehehe!

Being born in the 80s, glow-in-the-dark was still very cool. I even had these dinosaur toys that glowed! I used to play with them in front of my cat and he’d be mesmerized by them. Also had glow-in-the-dark bracelets, but never any face paint.

I’m definitely going to try the glow-in-the-dark polish over a light green or a white polish and take photos. How cool would it be to walk around at night with glowing nails? Uh…VERY! 😀

How exciting! First time I’ve seen any press release for an OPI Halloween collection. I really want that green glow in the dark polish but not at all interested in the black shatter. Any chance they’ll sell it by its lonesome? I’ve been on a green kick lately and that would be a perfect addition to my green line up! Plus, I’ve never tried glow in the dark polish so it definitely makes it a must have. 😀

      Hey Carmela!

YAY for seeing this for the first time! 😀

So far it looks like, in Canada, they’ll only be selling it in these sets…unless you get it on eBay well after Hallowe’en (and most likely for a price that’s a real rip-off). Hmm…do you have a friend who likes the Black Shatter? Maybe you could split it with her (or him).

I’ve never tried glow-in-the-dark polish, either, but I really want to. When I do, I’ll have to swatch and review it on here! 😀 Very exciting!

Hehe, oh, I’m sure you can convince her! Enablerrrrr! 😛

Oh, that’s a great coupon! But I really shouldn’t go into Bath & Body Works. It’s dangerous for my wallet. Haha, I just bought a bunch of things just last night. Must. Resist.

I’m really excited about the Pair’em Scare’em set! I really like glow in the dark polishes but don’t wear them often enough.

I like the OPI mini sets. They let you test the colors without spending a lot of cash. Unfortunately when I was trying to save money by buying the Katy Perry mini set it convinced me to want the bigger ones!

      Hey Katie!

Haha, I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes the mini sets are like fishing rods that reel you in and make you want the full-sized bottles. And the OPI Katy Perry Collection was amazing! Can’t blame you for wanting the colours in a bigger bottle. 🙂
