Nubar Wildlife Swatches & Review

Nubar Wildlife SwatchesNubar Wildlife comes from the Going Green Collection that stopped me in my tracks when I first saw it. (A collection full of all green nail polishes? Heaven!)

In the bottle, it looks like a shimmery dirty olive green with a pinkish glow. It definitely is a neutral green bumped up a few notches.

I’d consider this an elegant green rather than a fun green. And the soft pink duochrome effect makes it extremely unique.

Although this is a nice green that I’m glad to have in my nail-polish collection, it didn’t wow me as expected. Want to know why? You’re in the right place.

Nubar Wildlife Review

When you look at my Nubar Wildlife swatches, you may think that it looks similar to another polish I reviewed: China Glaze Peace On Earth. And you know what? You’d be right. It even has a similar shimmery almost-metallic finish.

But what sets Nubar Wildlife apart is the duochrome nature. It looks like a yellow-based green in some light, in other lighting, it looks like an antique green, and sometimes it looks really pink.

I’m all for duochromes, but I like my duochromes like I like my men: strong. Unfortunately, Nubar Wildlife is a weak one, but it’s still nice.

The formula was totally fab! Went on as smooth as butter and was almost opaque in one coat. If you accidentally put too much in one section of your nail, it self-levels and perfects itself!

And the dry time was impressive. It was already dry to the touch in a few minutes, and after slicking on the Seche Vite quick-drying top coat, my nails were thoroughly dry in no time.

All Nubar polishes wear very well for me – on average it’s over a week. But this one I didn’t test-drive the longevity. I wore it for only 3 days because I wanted to wear China Glaze Party Hearty (layered over Orly Meet Me Under the Mistletoe) for my Christmas manicure.

Pros

  • Duochrome polish
  • Free of Formaldehyde, Toluene & DBP
  • Cruelty-Free & Vegan
  • Dries Fast
  • High pigmentation
  • Smooth, perfect formula
Cons

  • Duochrome is subtle
  • Nubar can be hard to get hold of if you’re not American
  • Nubar Wildlife is part of the limited-edition Going Green Collection (once it’s gone, it’s gone!)

Final Verdict: 8/10

I like this color, but it doesn’t completely floor me. Even so, I’m glad to have it in my nail-polish collection because it’s a unique green-pink duochrome that you don’t often see. That being said, I don’t consider it a must-have. And that surprises me because this was the one polish in the Nubar Going Green Collection that I thought would wow me the most.

Do you like Nubar Wildlife? What are your favorite duochrome polishes?
