Nicole by OPI Kendall on the Katwalk Swatches & Review

Sunlight Nicole by OPI Kendall on the Katwalk Nail PolishBy now a lot of you have seen many of the shades from the Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors Collection. They’ve already popped up in some stores last month.

I’ve worn a few colours from the collection, and my favourite hands down is Nicole by OPI Kendall on the Katwalk!

When I saw the promo pictures of it, I thought that it would be really similar to China Glaze Skyscraper. Nope – it’s completely unique!

Kendall on the Katwalk is a blue-green-purple glitter polish!

It sparkles like a diva upping the ante. This truly is one that you need to see in person to understand how special it is.

My photos don’t do it any justice. For some reason, my camera mainly picked up just the blue. This is not a flat, run-of-the-mill glitter polish! In person, you can see the purple and green glitter a lot. It’s like wearing a galaxy on your nails!

Claim: TRUSTED

A head-turning blue-green with a “sparkling” personality!

Key Notes

Nicole by OPI Kendall on the Katwalk Review

Colour

If you think that you’ve seen every kind of glitter out there, check this one out! It has my two favourite colours (green and purple), plus blue. If that’s not a triple threat, I don’t know what is!

This collection is unique to my 500+ bottle collection, so I was really excited to wear it. From the second I saw the bottle, I knew it was really special. It’s one of those polishes with that Wow Factor, and there are a lot of gorgeous, sparkly blue polishes on the market, so that’s really saying something.

If you only want to buy one polish from the Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors Collection, Kendall on the Katwalk is my recommendation! It even beats Rainbow in the S-Kylie for me.

The overall look is mainly blue – this really vibrant, glowy kind of blue. But even at first glance, you can quickly see that there’s also bold purple glitter peppered throughout. I love this striking contrast because it really adds visual interest and a dramatic twist on a funky blue glitter polish.

But the Awesome Train doesn’t stop there! You’ll also see stunning green glitter in the mix! While the purple glitter provides contrast, the green complements the blue. I really enjoyed this because it adds depth to the overall result. Without the green glitter, it wouldn’t look nearly as lively.

Finish & Grittiness

This is a glitterbomb! There’s no doubt about it. Slick this on, and your nails sparkle like crrraaazzzyyy! They catch the light, and if you’re like me, you’ll find yourself staring at your nails a little too often throughout the day.

It’s also gritty as hell! But that comes with the territory. You can feel the texture, but it’s not super scratchy. You could wear it as is, but it’s when you add a shiny top coat that it really comes to life!

Nicole by OPI Kendall on the Katwalk eats top coat. You put on one layer of top coat, and it looks really smooth, but then when it’s completely dry, the glitter sucks up the top coat and it becomes textured again.

This doesn’t bother me, but if you want it to be slick, this is what you can do: apply a regular non-fast-drying top coat and then apply a thick fast-drying top coat over it. Of course, the more layers of polish you apply may make your manicure more prone to chipping.

Application & Formula

I was quite pleased with the formula. It’s highly pigmented, so you’ll only need two coats to achieve full opacity. And it goes on fairly easily. My bottle had a great formula – it wasn’t thick and goopy like I thought it would be. Very easy to control and apply it where you want.

Another plus is that this polish dried fast, so you can finish your manicure in no time!

Pros

  • Stunning blue-purple-green glitter combination that you don’t often see
  • Sparkles like crazy
  • Formula is easy to work with
  • Dries quickly
Cons

  • Eats top coat
  • Finish is gritty

Final Verdict: 10/10

It should be obvious that I’m in love with Kendall on the Katwalk from Nicole by OPI! It’s a brilliant colour with superb application and pigmentation. Truly impressive and inspiring!

Have you picked up any colours from the Kardashian Kolors Collection? Are you a fan of the Kardashians, or do they turn you off? Do you have a soft spot for blue-glitter nail polishes?

I love this color! Just yesterday I went to Shopper’s Drug Mart and they weren’t there. Also, if you saw the rainbow in the Sky-lie polish, can you tell me if itt’s a dupe of Rainbow Connection or Happy Birthday? Just curious. The review was spectacular! I wish I had a bottle of this!

      Hey maddy!

They should be out already. Maybe your Shoppers is just getting ready to put them on display. (The one near me is usually one of the last to get new collections.) Maybe try checking again later.

Actually, I have a comparison post scheduled for tomorrow that you’ll be interested in checking out. 😉

I’ll check my shopper’s tomorrow or if i get a chance to today. I’ll also definitely be reading your new review tomorrow. How do you get all this free nail polish?

          Hey maddy!

Hope you find it – this is a pretty one to have. Most of the polishes I’ve blogged about, I bought, but I did get quite a few complimentary polishes lately. PR contacted me. 🙂

      Hey Rainbowify Me!

Even though it’s gritty and takes a lot of effort to remove, this is one of the polishes that’s so beautiful to wear that it’s worth the trouble. And I like how even with so many blue glitters out there, this really stands out.

      Hey PinkGlitter!

Yes, it’s gritty and requires a top coat to be smoothed out and lot of effort to remove, but I expected that from such a blingtastic polish. 🙂 I think it’s worth the additional removal effort.

      Hey Amber!

Haha, yeah, I spent a long time removing it because glitters reallllly cling onto the nail. But, for a glitter this beautiful, I can overlook it. So pretty, and it’s now one of my favourite blue glitters.

      Hey Chrissy!

Haha, I’m glad that you can overlook your dislike of the Kardashians because this colour is a beauty! Even if you aren’t normally a fan of blue glitter, this one is so special with the purple and green glitter that it goes beyond the typical blue glitter.

I had previously resolved not to get anything from this collection as a way to boycott the Kardashians. I don’t know what it is about them but I’d personally not want to have anything to do with them, including their merchandise. And then you show me this polish and now I’m torn! The triple threat is making fast work of my resolve, with my weakness, blue, dealing most of the hits. Since I haven’t seen these in store yet, I still have time to think about it. 🙂

Btw, when did you break the 500 count?? Amazing!

      Hey Carmela!

If you’re serious about your Kardashian boycott, don’t support them by buying anything from them, including this polish. In the end, they’ll profit from it. Standing true to your beliefs is always more valuable than even the prettiest glitter polish.

Hehe, probably 3 months ago was when I broke the 500 mark. I keep an Excel document to organize my collection (hehe, “NERD!”), and when I was updating it the last time, I noticed the number was inflated. 😛 Uh-ohhh….

True. But it’s blue, purple and green glitter. *pouts* Must mull it over more. Hammie says nail polish knows no bounds. Should I listen to him?

Wow! How long did it take for you to reach 500? That’s pretty amazing. I’ve just hit the 100+ mark myself with all the Color Club sets pushing it closer to 140. 😛 I applaud your Excel organizational skills. 😛 I only have mine on paper and nail wheels. Maybe I should make an Excel spreadsheet before it grows even more and I’d have to worry about storage next..

Haha, maybe this polish is the apple from the Garden of Eden. So this must mean that I am the snake. :S

I only started seriously collecting polish back in the fall of 2008, when the OPI La Collection de France came out to be exact! They really hooked me when I found one of their polishes matched one of my purses exactly! After that, I started looking up reviews and swatches. It was all downhill from there. 😛 (I’ve always really enjoyed wearing it and painting my nails myself, though…just I wasn’t as fanatical about it as I am now.)

Yes, I can see how it’d remind you of mermaids. 🙂 It’s definitely a nice, rich blue…and the green and purple glitter make it ‘dance’ on your nails.

It’s gorgeous! I love all the different colors it in, it kind of makes me think of mermaids or something to do with the ocean. I don’t own many Nicole by OPI polishes but I might have to get this one. Nice review and swatches!

This is gorgeous. I am not a fan of the Kardashians – to me they are part of the cult of the rich and clueless that dominate reality TV. However, I doubt they are making money directly from the sales of the polish. I am guessing they are paid at the start for the rights to use their family and given names. Then all proceeds go to OPI. Or at least that is what I am telling myself to justify buying the polish!

      Hey mellinail!

      Hehe, that’s a good justification. 😉

If the collection sells really well, OPI will be more inclined to partner with the Kardashians again so that they make more money. So, even if it’s indirect, you’re supporting them. But if you can overlook that, this is a gorgeous polish to have – very different.

wow that’s gorgeouuuuuss!! The true color sure puts those promo pics to shame, eh. From the promo, I thought it was just going to be blue glitter with some lighter particles hrown in. I can’t wait to see other swatches from this collection.

There sure is a lot of Kardashian-hate going on here! I personally don’t have any issue with them. They are smart and savvy business women who doubled their fortune many times over and know how to stay relevant. Also I find them incredibly entertaining. So what if they aren’t book smart? They are definitely intelligent in many other ways. I love love this polish. Such a great mix of colors …but must be a PAIN to remove lol.

      Hey Natalia!

Seems like the Kardashians spawn a lot of love and hate. Although watching their shows is a guilty pleasure of mine, I can’t say I love them. I watch them because they’re entertaining, the shows are mindless, and it always amazes me how there never seem to be any severe consequences. Maybe that’s strange, but that’s why I watch some episodes. It’s fluffy and light. When I’m feeling down, I tend to watch shows like this instead of serious murder-mystery-type dramas.

YES – this polish is TOUGH to remove!

Yesterday I was at WalMart looking for a cute nail polish and I saw this color and I tried it on my hand, not my nails because I already had polish on them and the color was cute! Now looking at the color here in your website I seriously regret not buying it, it’s too cute! My favorite color nail polish is dark blue which is perfect and I just love the purple sparkles. Gorgeous.

You know,… if my friend wasn’t sending me Essie’s “trophy wife” I would reach for this polish… now I know these two are completely different blues… but Trophy Wife will satisfy my blue craving for now!

Your swatches are incredible by the way!

Thank you! 😀 This is one of those blow-your-mind colours. When you wear it, it’s hard to stop being so self-absorbed and stare at your nails so much…haha! While I wore this, I’m fairly certain that all strangers perceived me as exceptionally vain. Even in the elevator, I found myself glancing down!

Looking forward to hearing your take on Essie Trophy Wife! 😀

This colour was very popular when it first came out, so maybe they’ve sold out. Aww…that’s really a shame. But at least you’re able to get the amazing Nfu-Oh 52! 🙂 Flakies are even better, don’t you think? 😀

Thanks for your answer. It was never available here (in Belgium) and well shipping costs are very expensive (sometimes they cost five – and more – times as much the actual polish price). Nfu oh n°52 is my first flakie polish I love it!

I have this as a pedi right now – and while it’s pretty in the bottle, it is actually really full and flat on. It’s also a very hungry glitter – so it eats top coat and it not smooth at all. Completely disappointed by this polish, as I absolutely love it in the bottle.

      Hey Satori!

Wow, really? I’m sorry that you were disappointed. I was blown away by it both in the bottle and on my nails!

Have you tried applying two layers of top coat to smooth it out?
