The spring weather seems to be slowly but surely creeping up on us, and I’m all for it! (Warm weather, I welcome you with a cup of iced tea!)
So maybe a little colour therapy will let the remnants of Old Man Winter’s chilly weather leave in peace.
The Neons by OPI Collection contains 6 vivid shades that’ll be available in full-size bottles and in a cute mini set starting this May!
Additionally, they’ll be releasing the OPI Put a Coat On!, which is a white base coat designed to up the Wow Factor of a neon nail polish.
I whipped together a photo showing all the new shades so you can better determine which ones will be ‘jumping into your shopping cart’. 😉
I could never get tired of neons, so I’m very much looking forward to trying the shades and the OPI Put a Coat On! base coat. And, as usual, I’ll share my in-depth review and swatches of the ones I wear as full manicures!
P.S. I’m a little embarrassed to admit that the reason why I missed writing and scheduling a blog post for Tuesday was because I got all worked up watching the exciting head-to-head NCAA National Championship game on Monday night. I was so tired afterwards, I literally went to bed to “take a short nap”, but I ended up falling asleep and waking up with barely enough time to get ready for work! (Did any of you watch the game?)
Edit: I’m having a worldwide giveaway for the entire full-size OPI Neon Collection and the new white base coat, OPI Put a Coat On! Enter until May 31 at 11:59 pm EDT for your chance to win big!

OPI Releases Six New Neon Nail Lacquers with
Accompanying White Base Coat to Boost Bright Color
OPI Adds Its First Full-Size Neon Shades to Permanent Collection
OPI announces the launch of six new neon nail lacquers, the brand’s first full-size neon shades, along with Put a Coat On! – a special white base coat that instantly boosts neon color. Neons by OPI arrives just in time for summer, with electric hues in shades of lemon-lime, tangerine, hot pink, coral, lime and purple.
“With hands and feet constantly on display during warmer months, wearing nail lacquer is a
must,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder & Executive VP. “I am a big fan of bright colors for summer, and Neons by OPI delivers a bold look that pairs perfectly with sun-kissed skin. To really make the neon shades pop, I recommend using Put a Coat On!, a new white base coat developed to be worn with bright lacquer hues to further enhance color.”
“These six shades are the first full-size neons OPI has ever released,” adds Weiss-
Fischmann. “With large demand for new bright lacquers, this collection is a welcome addition to OPI’s permanent line.”

Neons by OPI will be available in both nail lacquer and GelColor (for professionals only)

Which of these shades is calling your name? Will you be getting the full-size bottles or minis? Did you watch the NCAA National Championship game?
I’m usually not that enthusiastic about neons, but that light green definitely looks interesting… and the pink… and the coral… but I’m waiting for swatches to appear before deciding (as these are going to be part of the permanent collection anyway so no need to stalk the salons to make sure I get them all before anyone else has the chance to steal the nicest colors 😉 )
Hey Joyce!
Hehe, I knew that you couldn’t just pick one. With neons, they usually need to go with a buddy or two! 😉 Hehehe!
PR will be providing me with some neons, so when I receive them, you can bet that I’ll be wearing them ASAP. I’m really feeling brights now!
These look nice, and I’m interested to see swatches, but honestly I think they might be stretching the definition of “neon” just a liiiiitle bit too far 😛
Fedoraharp recently posted: Swatched: Superficially Colorful Giggly
Hey Fedoraharp!
It’s possible. I need to try them out in person, especially with that white base coat that’s supposed to make them brighter. When I do, I’ll share my thoughts with you all on here! 🙂 Looking forward to doing so!
I’m really excited to see this collection in person. I am really loving the look of both greens 🙂
Erin-Paint Those Piggies! recently posted: My Mannequin Hands Polish?
Hey Erin!
Same here! 🙂 I’ll be sharing a photo on my social media (Instagram and Twitter for sure) when I receive these. Then, I’ll have to wear them and see how neon they actually are! So excited!
I’m interested to see more about the base coat. I want to know how smoothly it will go on with just one coat, or if you’ll need two.
Nail Polish Society recently posted: Heavenly Pastels
Hey Nail Polish Society!
I’m also curious about it. PR will be sending me some items from this collection, so I’m really looking forward to seeing how well these perform and how bright the shades are with the white base coat! Stay tuned!
Neons annoy me because you basically need two polishes (white and the color) for them to look proper, so I find that a little obnoxious, however it’s like that across the board (all brands) so I think OPI is smart for marketing the white base coat along with them so your every day nail polish consumer knows how to make them look best. I hope that the white base coat is like almost a one coater, because otherwise they might as well have sold alpine snow alongside it, but again- marketing- so even if the polish is identical, I’m sure they wanted to tie it in w the neons. I would really like to get the lime green, depending on the exact color once I see actual swatches of them, but as for the others, I peobably have polishes that I’m happy with. Although idk if I have a good neon coral so if it’s really retina-wearing I’ll want that one too. Oh and the purple- if the purple is crazy bright I might get that. 😉 You know what other neon collex I’m excited about- Essie. Swoooooonnn. 😉
Hey Nicole!
Aww, sorry to hear that neons annoy you! I almost never wear a white base under neons, but now that OPI has come out with a new base coat, I’m just too curious about trying it to see what I’ve been missing by wearing my neons solo! 😉
Essie has been putting out some pretty shades lately, and in the past few years, they’ve really been upping their game, that’s for sure!
The white base coat DOES NOT make a neon polish any brighter. A total waste of money
Hey Rose!
Aww, sorry you think so! Well, if you already bought it, maybe you can still use it as a regular white polish?
When I wear neons, I tend to wear them solo instead of layering them over a white polish. But lots of nail lovers out there have told me that white makes neons pop!
Very cool set. A can’t wait to see a review of the colors. They all look like great colors with cute names. Yet another set to add to the never ending wish list. LOL 🙂
Hey Melissa!
I can’t wait to review them as soon as I receive a few from PR! Haha, you know what I’ll be itching to wear – I’m totally craving brights now, so it’s good timing!
Yep…I’m in trouble. (goes to make more room in the polish collection)
Hey Karen!
Haha, the life of a nailphile! 😉 No worries – we’re in it together! Hehe!
I love them all, except the pink. I hate pink. I’ll start off with the green & lemon first, the white too.
Hey Melissa!
Haha, I used to never care for pink. In the last few years, I’ve gotten more comfortable wearing that colour on my nails, but the interesting thing is that I’ve ALWAYS had a soft spot for neon pinks. I’m not sure why I make that exception, but neons just get me excited in general, I guess! 😉
Yeah, same here – the green makes my heart race the fastest!
I love brights for summer – it HAS to be coming, we still have snow here.
Hey Kathi!
Haha, we got snow last week, and I thought that enough is enough! It’s supposed to be SPRING! Sheesh! Hehe, but then the weather warmed up a bit. I can’t wait for summer, though, because I really want the temperature to be more consistently warm!
