Alright, guys and gals. If you love you nail color that’s anything but flat, this one’s for you. From the 3D Holographic Collection, Milani Hi-Tech offers you mega depth. And depending on the light you catch it, it looks like either a warm color or a cool tone.

This nail polish features Holographic Image Technology, which is supposed to give the nail color a reflective rainbow effect. What does that mean? It claims that you’ll be able to distinctively see seven different colors traveling across the nail color. Can you?

Milani 3d Holographic Hi-Tech Review

This is the first time I’ve ever tried a Milani nail polish, and I must say that I’m very impressed. The formula is smoother than liquid silk – it’s not sticky or goopy, and it’s not too thin.

And I was surprised by how quickly it dries! It only takes about 5 minutes before my nails feel smooth and not tacky to touch. And when I say smooth, I mean SMOOTH. It feels a little bit like glass after it sets. It looks like it, too, with the shine that it naturally has.

Now, let’s talk about color. Milani Hi-Tech reminds me of spring with its lime-green hue. The base green looks really fresh and light, but the real focus is the glitter flakes.

While Holographic Image Technology is supposed to give off a rainbow effect, Hi-Tech doesn’t actually offer you seven distinctive colors. You mostly get either a warm gold/yellow/orange glow, a cool blue/green/silver reflection or both at the same time! It’s very interesting to look at.

Holo nail polishes are usually more evident in the sunlight, but Milani Hi Tech shows its true color more in artificial light or with flash. In natural light, you see more of the silvery reflection instead.

Milani Hi Tech is really sheer though, so you’d need at least 2 coats. I actually wear 3 to get the maximum color intensity and glitter effects.

How about the wear? Thumbs up on this point, too! Without a top coat, Milani 3D Holographic Hi Tech lasted me a good solid 5 days without chipping. I’m trying it with a top coat to protect it now, and I’m getting even more wear mileage from it.

    Pros
  • Affordable
  • Great wear
  • Dries quickly
  • Interesting holo effect that’s not flat
  • Free of toluene, formaldehyde, DBP
    Cons
  • Very sheer
  • Don’t see a “rainbow” effect

Final Verdict: 9.3/10

The bonus of Milani 3D Holographic Hi Tech is that the formula is Big 3-free, so for those who pay attention to the ingredients list, this is a big plus.

I really like the depth of this shade. What do you think? What’s your fave holo nail polish?
