Ready to pump up the color volume? Then you’re in for a treat with the L’Oreal HiP Bright Shadow Duo in Showy. This duo definitely is intense, and it’s perfect if you’re looking for something that grabs attention.

I personally like more subtle and natural colors, but I also like to punch things up sometimes. And boy, was I knocked out. I wouldn’t wear these shadows for every occasion; they’re just too-in-your-face. They’re fun though! However, I can’t pass this shadow just based on the color.

L’Oreal HiP Bright Shadow Duo Showy Review

When I first tried Showy, I was a little shocked at how intense the color really is. But I guess when L’Oreal says “bright,” they sure mean “bright.”

There’s no better place to put a bright color than your eyes. It instantly draws attention to your face. So if you’re feeling bold, then L’Oreal HiP Showy is awesome for you. The darker shade is a rich true blue, while the lighter one is a sparkly sky blue. The two complement each other very well, but you can also wear them separately with other colors or on their own.

While the colors themselves live up to the brightness, let’s talk about the formula. I hate it. It creases like crazy! And it’s not like it creases at the end of the day. It only takes 3-4 hours for this shadow to form that ugly line – on both eyes! Now, I’ve been wearing the shadows on my naked lids because I like to test them out on their own without any help from a base or primer. And they totally fail.

I also use the darker shade as a liner, and that too melts more than other shadows. I have to keep wiping the lower part of my eye to take off any melted color. I am not liking the L’Oreal Bright Shadow Duo at all.

Plus, it doesn’t go on evenly. I didn’t expect this at all because the L’Oreal HiP Metallic Shadow Duo has such a nice formula. But for some reason, the L’Oreal Bright Shadows goes on blotchy, and you really have to work hard with your brush to smooth out the color.

Pros

  • Intense color
  • Complementary shades
  • Comes with brush applicator
Cons

  • Creases like crazy
  • Doesn’t stay put
  • Doesn’t go on smoothly

Final Verdict: 4/10

The L’Oreal Shadow Duo scores points for the bright and happy colors, but it should be in the negative for the formula. I don’t know why there’s such a big difference between this and the HiP Metallic Shadows. I’m saying no to the other colors in this line.

How do you like the colors? Think you’ll still give the shadows a try just for the shades?
