Illamasqua Stance Swatches & Review

Illamasqua Stance Swatches & ReviewIllamasqua Stance is the colour that I was hoping Misa Girls’ Night Out would be. It’s a lively fuchsia violet that reminds me of the summer.

And how appropriate considering that lately, it feels like Mother Nature gave us summer weather right when winter ended. (Thanks!) 😀

Stance comes from the Illamasqua Human Fundamentalism Spring Summer 2012 Collection that I previous blogged about not long ago.

This is a fun colour to wear, but the reason why I love it so much is because the formula is pure perfection! With minimal effort, you get a great manicure with tons of shine.

Claims: TRUSTED

√ Fuchsia violet
√ Packed with pigment
OK – High shine (It dries somewhat dull, but with a top coat, it becomes shinier than most polishes)

Key Notes

Illamasqua Stance Review

Colour

The colour is like candy to me – sweet and enjoyable. I think it looks fresh and flattering on my skin tone, and I found myself admiring my manicure a lot. (Oh how some polishes make us so vain!) 😉

If you remember a while back, I published my Misa Girls’ Night Out swatches & review. I was expecting that one to be a bright purple, but then when I wore it, it looked more pink than purple to my disappointment. (But the formula was perfect!)

Stance by Illamasqua is the purple I was craving! I think this shade would be flattering on a lot of people from light to rich. 🙂

Finish

This is a creme polish. Although Illamasqua claims that it has a high-gloss finish, it actually doesn’t…at least not when worn solo. It dried a bit duller. However, when you use a top coat over it (which you should be doing for your manicures anyway), oh my goodness! It ends up looking as shiny as a jelly polish! I’m in love with the finish!

Application & Formula

There’s absolutely nothing that I can knock about the application or the formula of Illamasqua Stance. It’s excellent in every single way!

Stance is very pigmented (much more so than a jelly polish) – you only need 2 coats to fully cover your nails. But, you know how jelly polishes always apply so perfectly because they’re self-leveling and virtually foolproof? Well, Stance is exactly like that!

(If you have trouble applying polish, you should seriously try this one because it’ll blow your mind. You’ll get a gorgeous manicure with very little effort.)

Price

I don’t have many Illamasqua nail polishes because the one thing holding me back is my pocketbook. They’re more expensive than typical nail polishes. But, in this case, Stance is totally worth every penny because the colour and formula are perfect!

Pros

  • Vibrant fuchsia violet
  • Highly pigmented
  • Has a high-gloss finish like a jelly polish if you use a top coat over it
  • Perfect formula that’s self-leveling
Cons

  • More expensive than your typical nail polish

Final Verdict: 10/10

I’ll surely be wearing Stance by Illamasqua again – it never gives you any application difficulty. And you know that I love a polish that’s easy to work with.

Stay tuned for a future blog post. After a few days, I decided to do a layering experiment using this polish. 🙂

What are your prized Illamasqua nail polish colours? Are you going anywhere on vacation this summer? What polish have you tried that has a perfect formula in your opinion?

      Hey Robbie!

You should get this – it’s a smooth purple that’s perfect for the summer. Am I convincing you? 😉

I agree and I don’t even have this one yet – 10/10!!!! I adore the shade. It looks a bit like a combo of OPI Flashbulb Fuchsia and OPI I Ate Berries At The Canaries. I am a huge fuchsia/magenta polish fan.

      Hey beachgal!

Ohhh, if you’re big on fuchsias, you’ll LOVE this one. I’m actually not the biggest fan of berry tones, but certain ones really do it for me. 😀

      Hey MariJo!

I understand – Illamasqua costs a pretty penny (mannny pennies, actually…haha). If I come across a polish that’s similar, I’ll try to remember to get back to you about it. I love seeing purple, berry, and pink polishes on you.

      Hey Marcia!

I’m seriously debating getting the green. If it applies as well as Stance, it’s realllllly tempting. I’ll need to go through my stash first to see if I have something that’s too close already. (Trying to save a bit of money, but it’s tough!)

    Well, that seals it.

Was considering a trip to the mall (shudders) this weekend to get my hair whacked off again and now that ‘consideration’ has become a plan. Time to amble on into the Sephora store to see if they have these babies. Stance is gorgeous, but am absolutely drooling over Nomad.

      Hey karen!

What hairstyle do you think you’ll get? A trim or a completely different style?

I want to see Nomad in person, too. Very tempting! 😉

Were you able to pick between Nomad and Stance? Because if you were, I’m surprised you went for Stance! I mean, not to knock on it or anything because it’s ridiculously gorgeous (although I probably won’t get it as I have Julep Helena and it looks close enough) but with your penchant for green, it’s a shocker! 😛 But wow, love it on you, Mary! 🙂

I’ve recently just gotten my first Illamasqua polish in a swap (Marisa is <3) but I haven't worn it yet bec the brights and pastels have been singing so much to me lately!

      Hey Carmela!

Nope, I didn’t have a choice. But even if I could choose, I think I still would’ve went for Stance. Nomad looks gorgeous, but lately I’ve been trying to steer away from greens a little. I still love/lust them, but when I stray, it reminds me that there are so many other fantastic colours out there – like corals and lilacs! If I keep wearing too many greens, I might get burned out, and I don’t want that to happen! 😉 Gotta make the relationship last and stay in the honeymoon stage…hehe!

YAY for getting your first Illamasqua polish! What shade did you get from the lovely Marisa? 😀

Good point! Maybe that’s why I haven’t worn my blues in a while either.. Oh, wow, I’ve been soo into lilacs myself! But instead of coral, I’ve been gravitating towards mints. It’s so weird since I don’t usually wear green and now I can’t stop wearing these pretty pastels.

She got me Phallic. I don’t know what’s up with that name but it’s the kind of blue that makes me weak in the knees. It’s kind of like a navy Ruby Slippers. 😀

Hahaha, knowing Illamasqua, their decision to make the colour blue and call it Phallic was entirely intentional! Hahaha!

In addition to the pleasure I get from looking at your swatches, I have to say I’m always in awe of how perfectly you define/describe the shades you wear…
This is such a lovely vibrant and playful shade! Gorgeous for the spring/summer
