A few weeks ago, Trade Secrets reached out to me and asked if I’d like to try the new CND Vinylux Weekly Polishes.
They let me pick a couple of shades from the line, and they also sent me the CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat, which is meant to be used in conjunction with the Weekly Polish.
One of the colours I chose was CND Vinylux Daring Escape because I don’t have too many dusty blues, and I thought the shimmer in this one would be interesting.
Although I don’t typically wear the same nail polish for a full week straight, I was still intrigued to test them out because I know that a lot of my readers would be interested to see how well it holds up.
To properly test out the longevity of CND Vinylux Daring Escape, I wore it for 6 consecutive days without any touch-ups.
I am pretty hard on my hands, and at work, I need to be on the keyboard constantly. (No princess fingernails here! I guess they’d be called peasant fingernails! Hehehehe!)

CND Vinylux Daring Escape Review
Colour
Daring Escape in the CND Vinylux line is a shimmery blue with a slight dusty quality. It still looks fresh, but not as bright as an aqua.
I love this shade because sometimes you don’t want something too loud or bright, but you also don’t want to wear a traditional colour. This is great for those times!
Finish
This has a shimmery finish, but it isn’t extremely sparkly. It’s on the subtle side, but it’s still noticeable, whether or not you’re in bright sunlight.
Application & Formula
With even a single coat, I was able to get great coverage due to the pigmentation. But I applied 2 coats, out of habit.
I found that the formula was on the thicker and slightly dryer side, so you shouldn’t go over the same spot too many times or it could clump up. Also, you should use medium coats instead of thin coats because if you use thin coats, the drier formula may not spread as well ont he nail.
How to Use the CND Vinylux Weekly Polish
CND Vinylux Daring Escape is formulated to be used on bare nails, so don’t add a base coat before applying your first coat of colour. (The base coat is supposed to be built right in.)
Also, you must use the special CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat with this, or you may not experience the same long-lasting effects.
This top coat dried the polish quicker than regular polish, but I found that it was on the thin side and didn’t leave as glossy a shine as my beloved Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.
For shimmery finishes like Daring Escape, it may not have made much of a difference, but you would notice it for a creme.
Longevity
I took photos each day for 6 days that I wore the polish. I didn’t do any touch-ups, and I didn’t go easy on my nails.
Below are the results of the test, starting with Day 2, since all the above photos are from Day 1.
As you can see, even by Day 6, the polish still was in pretty good shape. There was noticeable tip wear at the end, and I just had to remove it. Also, you can see my nails growing out a bit from the cuticle, so I felt like I had to remove it. I’m confident that it would’ve held up just fine, had I left it on for another day or even a few more days!

Final Verdict: 9/10
If you have trouble getting your manicures to last for days, try checking out the CND Vinylux polishes. They may work for you, but keep in mind that everyone’s chemistry is different, so my results may not be the same as your results. (Some people have drier nails than others, and that could also influence how well the polishes wear.)
With my chemistry, I don’t usually have trouble getting regular nail polishes to last. It’s a very rare thing when a polish chips on me in a day. I can normally get great wear for up to 4 days easily.
Have you tried any of the CND Vinylux Weekly Polishes? What’s the longest you’ve ever worn the same nail polish?
Edit: It’s always great getting encouragement from a company that takes the time out to notice ‘the little guy’. 🙂
I want to try this polish, but I’m just not sure about the whole “no base coat thing”. My nails tend to peel something terrible if I don’t consistently use a strengthening base coat. I wonder if 1 week of wearing this without the Base coat would damage my nails?
Hey Melissa!
I was nervous about not using a base coat prior to wearing this. Previously, I pretty much always wore a base coat to prevent staining. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I got zero staining with this one!
Hmm, I wouldn’t be able to comment on whether it would damage your nails. My nails are pretty tough (due to genetics), and I hardly have any peeling or splitting issues, despite having to type on the keyboard constantly at my full-time office job.
Hi Melissa,
I have very soft nails and always use Nail Envy or Nail Magic to toughen them up so I was also very reluctant to use Vinylux. However, my nails are harder than they have ever been in 51 years and it’s Vinylux. I am now able to grow them as long as I want and the colour does stay on so long as you apply it carefully. Good luck.
Hey Alison!
I’m happy to hear about your success story with Vinylux. That’s pretty impressive, and it speaks volumes as to how effective the formula is! Thanks for sharing that with me and Melissa!
Pretty colour! Might be interesting to try sometime…with my body chemistry, I generally don’t get more than two or three days of wear before I see significant chipping. Although lately I’ve been testing the HK Girl base and top coats and am pretty impressed so far!
Hey Jess!
Good to hear that the HK Girl base and top coats are working out well for you!
My favourite base coat is actually a nail strengthener – OPI Nail Envy! I heard so many people saying awesome things about it, so I had to try it. I don’t need a strengthener (due to genetics, my nails are really tough), but when using it as a base coat, it has prevented a lot of stains that other base coats couldn’t protect me from. Highly recommend!
Wow! That is some pretty good wear. Impressive. Nice color, too.

Hey Lizzy!
I was surprised how well it wore, especially because for my full-time office job, I have to constantly type on the keyboard!
Interesting concept! I could see wanting a couple of polishes like these, but honestly to me personally longevity doesn’t mean a whole lot. I’m a sucker for variety, I rarely wear the same thing for more than three days. Besides, I almost always do some kind of art, which means I *need* base coat and top coat.
Still, it might be worth picking up a couple from this brand for times that I know I’ll be too busy to pay attention to my nails.
Hey Fedoraharp!
I also love variety, and I tend to paint my nails very often (except when I’m feeling under the weather like I have been lately). But, for when you go on vacation or are super busy, I can see these being a lifesaver (or ‘nailsaver’). 🙂
