I had been drooling over China Glaze Your Present Required from the Happy HoliGlaze Collection ever since I first heard about it in the press release.
NailPolishCanada was kind enough to send it to me to try, and I’m so excited to share my review and swatches of it with you.
Christmas is the perfect time to bust out the glitter, but, really, whenever I want to freshen up an older manicure. Plus sometimes if you need a little pick-me-up, glitter is the easy and quick fix.
At first, I was going to layer it over a blue or purple, but since I was already wearing OPI Love. Angel. Music. Baby. from the Gwen Stefani Collection, I thought it would be cool to see what it’d look like on top of it. (I feel like the glitter really contrasts against the pale-gold base, so you can better see each piece.)

China Glaze Your Present Required Review
Colour
There’s a whole rainbow in this bottle, and it’s like you went into the craft room and had a fit, throwing all the glitter around and having a great time (haha, until it comes time to cleaning it all up).
You’ll see white, blue, purple, gold, green, and orange. And since the glitter is suspended in clear polish that means you have more freedom to layer this over a wide variety of lacquers without worrying about altering the base colour.
If you layer it over a blue or purple like what I originally thought of doing, it’ll give a completely different look.
I chose to layer it over gold because it helps you to see each little piece of glitter. Also, I like the contrasting for a bolder manicure.
Finish
Since there are small, medium, and large hexagonal glitter, it’s really chunky, and you’ll notice the texture. Applying a top coat will help to smooth everything out.
Removing this polish took more time than the average polish, but that was to be expected when you have so much glitter. (That’s why I prefer to use a single layer of chunky glitter like this. It makes it less difficult to remove.)
Application & Formula
Your Present Required by China Glaze has glitter that tends to pile up in certain spots, so you can’t just paint your nail normally. You’ll need to first paint it on and then go back with your brush to manipulate the piece and push them around to get the desired distribution.
Since there’s so much glitter, it dries very quickly, which is typical of these types of nail polishes.

Edit: Yay – NailPolishCanada retweeted my blog post on this polish!
Love this combo, it has such a happy festive look!
Hey Liz!
YAY! That’s exactly what I was going for when I wore it. I was feeling a bit down, and there’s nothing like some polish therapy to boost the spirits, right? 😉 It seemed to have done the trick!
I want this one-it’s so going on my wish list. Happy Holidays to you and your family! I’ve enjoyed reading your blog this year and can’t wait to see what the new year will bring. 🙂
Hey Melissa!
Thank you so much for being very supportive and caring! It means a lot to me, as there are always days when there’s a lack of motivation, and kind comments like yours do wonders at pushing me to persevere.
I’m happy to hear that Swatch And Learn has been an enjoyable read for you. I’m also looking forward to 2014! (There will be some exciting things to come!)
I was eagerly waiting for this review, I just like it so much (not as bad as This is Tree-mendous or Mingle with Kringle). I’m wearing it right now and this is the one for Christmas’ Eve’s dinner. I layered it over black and it looks gorgeous, I feel like a disco ball somehow (well, my hands feel so). I don’t care about the chunky part, but about the fast-dry part.
As always, love your swatches and reviews.
Merry Chirstmas!
Hey Angelina!
I was looking forward to wearing this polish, too! 🙂 It’s just so fun and glittertastic. Love how it perks up virtually any base colour!
Hope you had a great Christmas! 🙂 Thanks for all your support and love!
