China Glaze Sunsational Collection Swatches & Review

China Glaze Sunsational Collection Swatches, Reviews & PhotosSome time ago, I finished reviewing all 12 shades in the China Glaze Sunsational Collection.

When other bloggers do ’round-up’ collection posts, I find them very helpful because you can really see which shades are similar. Those kind of posts also help you scratch off a few from your list to save you some money.

I wear my manicures for at least a day (and often longer). During the time I wear them, I take photos and then review them on here individually.

Since I have done in-depth reviews full of swatches in various lighting conditions and bottle shots for every single colour in the China Glaze Sunsational Collection, I whipped up this post in case you’ll find it helpful. Plus when you see all the colours together, it gives you a better sense of the overall personality and theme. (Normally, I don’t have entire collections.)

In this post, for each colour, I share my ‘snapshot’ opinion on it and a photo. Then, if you’re interested in learning more or seeing multiple swatches of it, you can head over to the provided link for the in-depth review.

Which are your favourites from the China Glaze Sunsational Collection?

Note: All the shades in the ‘Cremes’ half were purchased by me. All the shades in the ‘Jellies’ half were provided by China Glaze.

P.S. Stay tuned this week! I have something very special planned for Swatch And Learn readers. If you like nail polish, you’ll be interested! 😉

The China Glaze Sunsational Collection consists of 12 shades split into 2 parts:

China Glaze Sun of a Peach

China Glaze Sun of a Peach Swatch & Review

China Glaze Sun of a Peach (Creme – 2 coats in natural light)

Sun of a Peach was one of my favourites in the collection because I found it to be very flattering. It’s a creamy, pastel, sorbet-like peach that I’m fond of wearing, particularly in the spring and summer.

China Glaze Neon & On & On

China Glaze Neon & On & On Review & Swatch

China Glaze Neon & On & On (Creme – 3 coats in natural light)

Neon & On & On is a playful bubblegum pink that’s very Barbie-esque. While I enjoyed the colour, the formula was trickier to work with than most of the others in this collection.

China Glaze Bottoms Up

China Glaze Bottoms Up Swatch & Review

China Glaze Bottoms Up (Creme – 3 coats in natural light)

Bottoms Up is a cool-toned pink with a touch of purple. It’s a super girly shade, and I loved how, after using a shiny top coat, it looks like pink plastic!

China Glaze That’s Shore Bright

China Glaze That's Shore Bright Review & Swatch

China Glaze That’s Shore Bright (Creme – 2 coats in sunlight)

That’s Shore Bright is perfect if you’re a fan of lilac nail polish like I am. You’ll enjoy this one. I loved how it applied smooth and very creamy.

China Glaze Too Yacht to Handle

China Glaze Too Yacht to Handle Review & Swatch

China Glaze Too Yacht to Handle (Creme – 2 coats in sunlight)

Too Yacht to Handle was another of my favourites from the collection! I feel that aquas and turquoises are especially beautiful in the warmer months because they’re bright, cheerful, and very flattering on many different skin tones. Plus the name is so cheeky!

China Glaze Highlight of My Summer

China Glaze Highlight of My Summer Review & Swatches

China Glaze Highlight of My Summer (Creme – 2 coats in natural light)

Highlight of My Summer was also one of my favourites in the collection because while it’s definitely minty and pastel, I found that it looked very neon on me. A pastel neon is something I rarely come across, so it was pretty special to me. And I didn’t find that it pulled the redness out of my hands. (Me no likey Lobster Hands!)

China Glaze Shell-O

China Glaze Shell-o Review & Swatch

China Glaze Shell-o (Jelly – 3 coats in natural light)

Shell-o is such a fun shade, and if you could translate the taste of watermelon into a nail-polish hue, this is the colour that I imagine would be the result! It’s downright juicy, and it’s obviously a summer shade.

China Glaze Heat Index

China Glaze Heat Index Review & Swatches

China Glaze Heat Index (Jelly – 3 coats in natural light)

Heat Index was a really bright pink on me, and I absolutely love wearing pinks like this in the summer! It’s not quite as neon in real life as my camera captured, but it’s still very lively!

China Glaze You Drive Me Coconuts

China Glaze You Drive Me Coconuts Swatch & Review

China Glaze You Drive Me Coconuts (Jelly – 3 coats in natural light)

You Drive Me Coconuts is a pretty pink with just a touch of purple/fuchsia. It’s fun, and it definitely wakes up your nails!

Click here for my China Glaze You Drive Me Coconuts in-depth review, swatches & bottle shots!

China Glaze Are You Jelly?

China Glaze Are You Jelly Review & Swatches

China Glaze Are You Jelly? (Jelly – 3 coats in natural light)

Are You Jelly? is another top pick in the collection because it covered so well, and I think this would be a flattering purple on many different skin tones.

Click here for my China Glaze Are You Jelly? in-depth review, swatches & bottle shots!

China Glaze Isle See You Later

China Glaze Isle See You Later Review & Swatches

China Glaze Isle See You Later (Jelly – 4 coats in natural light)

Isle See You Later really was the big disappointment in this collection. While the watery finish could be used in many glitter-sandwich-layering manicures, I wasn’t fond of the extreme sheerness. This one showed the worst Visible Nail Line.

China Glaze Keepin’ It Teal

China Glaze Keepin' It Teal Review & Swatch

China Glaze Keepin’ It Teal (Jelly – 3 coats in natural light)

Keepin’ It Teal was ones of the colours I was most looking forward to. I liked it a lot because it’s fresh and bright, but it does show Visible Nail Line.

Click here for my China Glaze Keepin’ it Teal in-depth review, swatches & bottle shots!

All of the China Glaze Sunsational Collection nail polishes looked better with a shiny top coat. I wouldn’t recommend you wear them solo.

Overall, I really enjoyed these colours because they definitely reminded me of the warm weather and great memories associated with it.

Which are your top picks? If you could add an additional colour to this collection, what would it be? Do you like ’round-up’ collection posts?

I really like this collection! I bought Bottoms Up, Highlight of my Summer, and Too Yacht to Handle. I’ve been looking for the purple cream but ulta is always out. I live in a rural area so that’s the only place I can find them. These polishes look stunning on you!

      Hey Erin!

Wow, interesting how the purple is the most popular at your Ulta. If I had to pick one, I would’ve thought Highlight of My Summer would’ve been the crowd favourite just because mint greens are always so hot.

Aww, thanks! I think China Glaze did such a great job giving us a summery assortment. I enjoyed wearing all of these manicures! 🙂

I really liked this round up! It’s fun to see the whole collection together, and your swatches are great as usual. I hope you’ll do this for the OPI San Francisco collection too! It think my favorite is Too Yacht to Handle. It’s the perfect summer shade.

      Hey Allison!

Since I’ve already reviewed all of the shades in the OPI San Francisco Collection, I should do a ’round-up’ post for it. It’s not too often that I have entire collections to share. So, hopefully I can get that up next week or so.

I want them all, but I think that next time I go to the store, I’m going to get That’s Shore Bright, Too Yacht to Handle, Son of a Peach and Shell-o. I also love Highlight of my Summer, but I probably have a color like that. I wish I could afford whole collections, ahhhhhhhhh! @_@

Haha, I know that feeling of wanting them all! I was really lucky to have bought the cremes set and then be offered the jellies set from China Glaze. 🙂

You’re most welcome! I’m glad that you found it helpful. I’ll need to do the same for the OPI San Francisco Collection – think that readers would find that useful.

Awesome picks! Please let me know how you like Sun of a Peach and Highlight of My Summer!

      Hey Carly!

Yes, I’ll have to do one for the OPI San Francisco Collection since I’ve reviewed all the shades. 🙂 I’ll try my best to get the ’round-up’ post next week.

A roundup post! I like that you go into such depth about each polish individually, but the roundup post gives us the best of both worlds- because this way you can get an overall impression of the quality and color scheme of the collection. Thanks!

Off topic, but after seeing your swatch of RiRi Woo, I tried to buy a dupe of it. The color I got ended up not being a dupe, but it is the first time I’ve been brave enough to wear actual red lipstick to work. It’s a bit of a boy’s club here, and I usually dress maybe… tomboy plus? (aside from blingy nails of course). So wearing bright lipstick is a huge step for me.

      Hey Fedoraharp!

It’s definitely very rare that I have every shade in the collection to review, so I felt that it was the perfect opportunity to do so. Next on my to-do list is a ’round-up’ post of the OPI San Francisco Collection since a lot of readers have requested it. 🙂

Congratulations on wearing your first red lipstick to work! Doesn’t it make you feel so empowered? It’s such a strong statement – very classic!

Now I’m wondering – did any of your co-workers comment on your new bright-red lips?

I have actually ony an entire collection once. I do own four full collections, and maybe one day I’ll finish swatching the first one since practically every member of that collection is now a staple for me (although by now it’s been out for over a year!). The thing is, mostly the domestic brands around here don’t do collections, or if they do there’s no real announcement. You just spot the new shades on the shelves and try to guess if they’re related.

I don’t recall if I got any lipstick comments, although I did ask one of my female coworkers if she thought it was too much (she said she thought it looked fine). I felt great though! I was a little paranoid for most of the day that the color would bleed and make my lips look sloppy and weird, but they stayed fine 🙂

Wow, that’s pretty amazing how an entire collection was a real winner for you. Rare, but really cool!

Sounds incredibly confusing how the consumer has to ‘put the pieces together’ when it comes to new collections. You’d think that companies would want to promote their products properly to drive sales. Strange!

I’m so happy that not only did you try something different, but you really enjoyed it, too!

Haha, yeah, I used to get nervous about red lipstick, but the formulas of MAC Ronnie Red and MAC RiRi Woo really stay put – love the long-lasting formulas!
