China Glaze Colours from the Capitol Collection Press Release & Promo Pictures

Hey everyone!

Here’s a quick second post for today.

I received the official promotional pictures from PR for the China Glaze Colours from the Capitol Collection and wanted to share it with you. Maybe you’ve already seen it, but I’m posting this just in case you haven’t heard the news.

This is all the information that I have, but when I get more, I’ll either edit this post to include it, or I may publish a whole new post and just link to it here.

Note: I received more press release information and bottle pictures. Scroll down to the red “Press Release sent to me by PR” to see.

Promo information sent to me by PR:

“This collection of 12 new nail polish shades is inspired exclusively by one distinct setting in The Hunger Games – the Capitol of the nation of Panem.  Awash in lavish fashion, food, and entertainment, Capitol citizens enjoy extreme cosmetics and body modifications, bold wigs, and outlandish costumes.”

I haven’t read any of The Hunger Games books. *Gasp* Yeah, I know, right? 😛 So I can’t put any of these names into context. For those of you who know more about the books, what do you think of the names of these polishes?

From the above promotional picture, I have a feeling that I’m going to fall in love with Agro, Smoke and Ashes, Luxe and Lush, Harvest Moon, and Electrify!

What are your picks? Have you read The Hunger Games books? Who’s your favourite character and why?

Full-page ads will run in the March issue of teenVOGUE, People Style Watch and InStyle.

I was so excited to finally see these finalized/official! I was really sad when I heard about the law suit so to know they’re pushing through with it is pretty awesome. 😀 I can’t wait to get my paws on ALL of these. Never mind that I might not like some of the colors, I still want them all. Guess who’s stalking Trade Secrets come late Feb? 😛

PS. You really should read the books. I think you’ll enjoy them. 🙂

      Hey Carmela!

Holy smokes, you are Ms. Speedy! I literally JUST posted this, and the next minute I looked, I saw that you already commented! Must be really good timing. Either that, or you are a major stalker. Hahahahahaha…just kidding! 😉

Oh my gosh, you’re going to get the ENTIRE collection? REALLY? WOWWWWW! I can’t wait to see your swatches of them and to read your thoughts on each of them.

I hadn’t heard of the law suit. Oh my!

Oh, psssh. I thought you already knew I was one of your major stalkers. Side note: Anyone want to join a club if i start one? 😛 Lol! Seriously though, I saw you link to it on twitter on the few times I was on yesterday. Plus, it’s one of the best nail news (apart from the FLAKIE Fingerpaints collection coming in January *squeeeee!*) I’ve heard in a while. How could I not comment? 😀

Well, assuming the hubby lets me. XD I really do want them all if I can find them. It would be sooo cool to tie up reviews of the color with the parts in the book that they represent! *squeeeee!* Books and nail polish! How can you go wrong?? 😀

Yeah, Lionsgate said it wasn’t official when China Glaze first released a pre-lim color set and China Glaze sued Lionsgate saying it was already a go and they were going back on their agreement. Glad to know they’ve ironed all the details out. It’s actually still the same color set but renamed to represent the 12 Districts in the book.

        Super excited for these!! 😀

What do you mean ONE? There are others? *Gulp* 😉

Yes, the flakie collection looks incredible – can’t wait to see them layered.

I am INLOVE with this collection. I’ve been following the drama of this collection since the whole lions gate/AII disagreement. I’m just glad that these will be released after all. As far as the novel… heh, I don’t have much respect for the book/author. I find that it’s much too similar to Battle Royale, which was written ages before Hunger Games. For context, the japanese movie release of Battle Royale was 1999 (the acclaimed novel written years ago), which was also coincidently the year when the first Hunger Games novel was published. The repetitive concept of taking a group of kids to fight each other because of civil disobedience is too similar. Much too similar to my liking. I was hoping that hollywood would remake Battle Royale. Now the chance of that is less to none because of Hunger Games. *sad panda*

      Hey Vivian!

Wow, I haven’t followed a darn thing about the drama. I must’ve somehow been distracted by The White Rabbit or other tardy furry creatures who carry watches… 😉

Hmm…interesting information you’ve brought up about Battle Royale versus The Hunger Games. I wonder if many of those who are into The Hunger Games are familiar with Battle Royale…and if so, if they also feel the same way that you do.

P.S. How did your finals go? Or are you still making your way through them?

Oh! hehe you remembered about my finals. Yea I’m still trudging through them… last 2 are on the 16th and 17th (final on a saturaday!! grr).

I’m sure Hunger Games is a great book, I just don’t have the interest to read the same kind of book. Kind of like you can only read so many variations of wizards/witches like Harry Potter before you get tired of the genre (at least for me lol). Most young adults nowadays in America probably don’t know about Battle Royale (since it was published a while ago), which is why hunger games is a favorite for hollywood. The author of hunger games stated she knew nothing about Battle Royale – I don’t believe that when themes are almost identical and also… “The novel [Battle Royale] has been adapted into a film and a manga series, and translated into Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Norwegian, and Hungarian.” If you’re a literature enthusiast, how do you not know about it??

and oops I got my facts wrong. Hunger games was published in 2008, and BR in 1999. but still…. lol! Anyways, enough of my rant haha. If you end up reading Hunger Games, let us know if you enjoyed it!

Hope you ace them! You’re on the final stretch, so hang in there, Vivian! 🙂 Aww…a final on a Saturday? I wouldn’t like that, but at least once it’s over you can relax.

I know what you mean. After reading all the Harry Potter books, it would take a really original concept to get me to read any other books with a very-similar wizard/witch theme. If I wanted to read something that’s so similar, I would just re-read my Harry Potter books.

Sure, if I wind up reading The Hunger Games, I’ll let you know what I thought. 🙂

I haven’t read the books either, but I was given them as a birthday present a few months ago. I started to read the fist one when I was sick so I couldn’t really focus all that well and sometimes I read a page over and over until I continued haha. I only got through about two chapters but from what I read it was pretty good. I’m going to go back and read it soon since I’ve been wanting to for a long time and the movie is coming out in a few months.

I’m really excited for the collection since the colors are really pretty. I’m glad they’re actually going forth with it. I wasn’t sure if they were going to continue it when I heard the news about the law suit taking place. I’m a tad bummed that the original names aren’t sticking with the colors, but at least the colors themselves are still here. I think they’re really pretty. I’m especially looking forward to Smoke and Ashes and Luxe and Lush. I basically like all the ones you chose and a few others, but it’s just the cremes that I’ll probably pass on.

      Hey Melissa!

Glad that you’ve been liking the books. I’m really curious about them – might give them a go. Right now I’m reading “Seriously…I’m Kidding!” by Ellen Degeneres. It’s the kind of book that makes you smile, and you can finish it one sitting. (But I’ve been trying to make it last longer by only reading a few chapters before going to bed.)

I love glitters and shimmers! More than half this collection looks like glitters or shimmers so might get a lot from this collection. I love Luxe and Lush, Electrify and Smoke and Ashes! I never read the books but I saw the movie trailer while watching Breaking Dawn and it looks interesting so I’ll give it a try. My brother says the books are good and he suggested to read most of the books I read. I first saw this collection while I was looking for the China Glaze Electropop collection (the Lady Gaga one), I never actually saw the collection in stores but did it ever come out? There are only 2 stores I know which sell CG so I’ll keep a watch on those stores. By the way, the 2 stores are Sall’ys and this store called VaVa Beauty Care (or something like that) in Markville Mall, Markham, Ontario.

China Glaze is def hauling out their polishes. I can’t even count the number of collections coming out. It seems like there’s a new one every week!

        Electropop
        Colors from Capital
        Prismatic Chroma Glitters
        Magnetix
        Glitter Crackles
        Neons Collection for summer 2012

Am I missing any? I’m sure they’re only getting started! haha. Someone needs to round all of them up in one post

Hehe, that’s why I love China Glaze, though. They’re always up on the latest trends and even start their own.

Okay, I know that neons have been done to death, but I still REALLLLLY love wearing them any time of year. 😀 I’m curious to see if they’re going to put a twist on their Summer 2012 neons.

      Hey maddy!

Now that you mention it, I remember seeing some photos of China Glaze Electropop crop up after people went to Cosmo Prof, but I never actually saw this collection officially released. I’m not sure what the deal is on that…if it’s going to be coming out in Spring/Summer 2012 or not at all.

I’ve been to VaVa once a couple of years ago, but I didn’t see any China Glaze. Is this a recent addition? Do they tend to carry new collections? How much do they usually charge per bottle?

I’m not sure if the CG polishes are a new addition to VaVa or not. They cost $6.99 CAD but they’ve been having a sale on it for a while now so it’s currently $5.99 CAD. They usually have new collections.
