Continuing on the Hallowe’en theme, I have for you a review on China Glaze Bat My Eyes, which is from the Monsters Ball Collection!

The name is cute, and it reminds me of some fake eyelashes I saw last night at a costume shop. They had little bat cut-outs attached to the tips.

Oh my gosh! China Glaze Bat My Eyes is so gorgeous with its dark base and high-contrast glitter.

To me, it looks really luxurious, like crushed up gold used as confetti for some pompous party. Hehe!

China Glaze Bat My Eyes Review

Colour

The combination of gold and black is a classic. There’s just something so rich about it, and I absolutely love how the ominous base allows the glitter to truly bring a manicure to life!

It’s a yellow-based glitter that reminds me of gold bars (not that I’ve ever seen any in person). Regal would be the word I’d use to describe it.

The base appears to have a jelly-like quality because it doesn’t come across as flat or completely opaque when I used the first coat. (After you use more coats, it becomes increasingly difficult to determine whether it’s a jelly because the nail polish is so jam-packed with glitter.)

Finish

Bat My Eyes by China Glaze has a lot of chunky glitter in various sizes, and they all mesh together like a mosaic.

There was some texture, as you would expect from this type of nail polish. But the cool thing is that after I applied my favourite top coat (Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat), it completely smoothed out to the point where if you closed your eyes and felt it, you could only barely feel the minute texture. It’s a sliver away from being completely smooth like a creme! I didn’t expect that, so it was a pleasant surprise!

Now for the part that’s predictable – I found this polish challenging to remove. With so much glitter, they really interlocked with one another, I suppose.

I highly recommend you use the foil method, or if you dare, bring out the ‘big guns’ (aka 100% pure acetone polish remover). I hear that pure acetone removes even the glittery beasts, but I am still too chicken to use such a powerful chemical on myself.

Instead, to remove this, I applied some non-fast-drying top coat, let it sit for a few seconds, and then used my polish remover and cotton ball to wipe it away. I find that for stubborn glitters, this method is the easiest and fastest for me.

Application & Formula

As I’ve mentioned on Swatch And Learn many times, I have a habit of applying medium coats, as opposed to thin coats.

With Bat My Eyes by China Glaze, I got great coverage with just 2 coats. The pigmentation is awesome, and while the formula was on the thicker side, I didn’t have to struggle to get it to go on smoothly or evenly.

You won’t need to use more than 2 coats for complete opacity. This is good news, especially with glitters because the fewer coats you use, the easier it is to remove later!

I also noticed that it dried faster than a typical nail polish, but this is a common characteristic of many glittertastic lacquers.

I am in love with China Glaze Bat My Eyes (which, by the way, I always seem to type as “Bath” My Eyes!) because it looks so luxurious. I’m not used to seeing my nails blinged out with a regal personality.

Normally the glitters I wear often are super colourful or probably geared toward the younger crowd.

This one is great for anyone, but I feel like it has a more ‘grown-up’ vibe, haha, if that’s possible for a glitter! 😉

I’ll certainly be wearing this again. Great colour combination and tons of sparkle to make you smile.
